I can't say enough good things about the vet who operates this business: Geoffrey Smith, MRCVS -but…read morelet me try! His business is small and run out of a house (that I assume is also his home). He is the only vet there and so you get his full and personal attention (he did take a brief vacation last year when he had a young lady take his place - and she was wonderful too!). Indeed you could imagine a British TV show about this man and his business. Oh wait a minute - that was done already back in the day (1978-1990): "All Creatures Great and Small" The surgery itself comprises a waiting area and his office/surgery. We LOVE the personal service that he gives, so does our beloved little guy "Ricky Martin" our 6 year old Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix born (and dumped roadside) in Houston, TX - thank goodness we found each other!! The occurrence that comes to mind is about 6 months ago when little Ricky (on an extended leash while walking with me) was attacked with no warning by a ferocious German Shepherd (Alsatian) which the owner was allowing to run free (forbidden in the UK) - yes I later found the address of the thoughtless owner, reported him to the police and now he has to keep the dangerous dog on a leash with a muzzle or he will go to prison. However, Ricky was bleeding and we got him immediately to the Doc who calmed him, shaved the area of the bite, studied and informed us that had the bite been 1/4 inch deeper or 1/4 inch to the left the carotid artery would have been severed and he would have bled out on the spot. He explained everything to us, advised why he was NOT going to use stitches, gave us painkillers for the little guy and antibiotics. Follow up a week later and all has been well since he pretty much fully recovered a month or so later. Poor little Ricky will not walk with me through those areas where he was attacked - his memory remains, as does ours of this wonderful, caring vet Two big thumbs up and one little paw up! Arrived 15 minutes early and been told that my cat doesn't registered there even though the email…read morestated that me and my cat is registered in there. Took a day off to make sure my cat got sorted. The lady on the desk make it sound like the fault is on me that I came to the wrong branch, which is unacceptable and quite rude since the email I got is a proof of that. The only good thing is she managed to request appointment in the other branch which is in the other side of the city and is quite hassle to get there because of the distance and there is an repair on the other place so the parking will be a nightmare. Please own it if you made a mistake, that's the point of the customer service. Don't make it sound like your patient made a mistake and make us feel bad about it. My cat is already stressed, me and my fiancé also struggle about it, but please please don't make us feel even more worse with trying to put the blame on us. I really appreciate that you manage to get the appointment sorted in different place on the same day. Thank you for that. This review is for the service from the front desk customer service and the system, not for the vets since this is my first time there. Hopefully the service in the front desk doesn't reflect the quality of the vets for Daisy.

This veterinary practice, actually in Sileby, not Loughborough, has a most excellent avian vet -…read moreCraig Hunt. He is very knowledgeable about pet birds of all kinds. We had a tiny budgie that required an operation and he and his team did a fabulous job. The budgie is fine now and the stitches were so tiny you could barely see it. Also very reasonable prices.

I used to take my African Grey parrot to see Craig Hunt at Chine house vets. My first impression…read morewas positive as he was very knowledgable. However that's where the positives stopped. I feel Craig suggested a load of tests and procedures that I felt were not necessary. My parrot had a small lump under his wing. Craig took samples of the lump and apparently ran tests and never got to the bottom of it. He suggested amputation of the wing. I think this is completely ridiculous as he never got to the bottom of the lump which most likely could have been solved with antibiotics which another vet told me. If you had a small lump on ur hand and the doctors suggested to amputate your hand without getting to the bottom of the problem, I dont think you would be happy!? My parrot spent several days at the vets for treatment, Craig promised to call every day with an update, which he failed to do. When he did eventually ring his phone manner was terrible and talks over you and doesn't let you get a word in! The second visit with the same problem with my parrot he suggested straight away to have the wing amputated. I suggested he run a biopsy first and it was like money bells rang in his head and he jumped at the chance to take even more money from me as he didn't suggest this himself. When I payed the bill, after studying the invoice I realised duplicate charges on the invoice which I had to call up to get refunded. Considering my parrot was very ill and he suggested we come back for a check up the following week and potentially more treatment, he has not had the courtesy to get in touch with us to see how our parrot is doing and why we haven't returned for the suggested check up. After paying near £1000 I would expect this courtesy at the minimum. I would definitely NOT recommend taking your pets to see Craig Hunt at Chine House vets.
