I used to take my African Grey parrot to see Craig Hunt at Chine house vets. My first impression was positive as he was very knowledgable. However that's where the positives stopped. I feel Craig suggested a load of tests and procedures that I felt were not necessary. My parrot had a small lump under his wing. Craig took samples of the lump and apparently ran tests and never got to the bottom of it. He suggested amputation of the wing. I think this is completely ridiculous as he never got to the bottom of the lump which most likely could have been solved with antibiotics which another vet told me.
If you had a small lump on ur hand and the doctors suggested to amputate your hand without getting to the bottom of the problem, I dont think you would be happy!?
My parrot spent several days at the vets for treatment, Craig promised to call every day with an update, which he failed to do. When he did eventually ring his phone manner was terrible and talks over you and doesn't let you get a word in!
The second visit with the same problem with my parrot he suggested straight away to have the wing amputated. I suggested he run a biopsy first and it was like money bells rang in his head and he jumped at the chance to take even more money from me as he didn't suggest this himself.
When I payed the bill, after studying the invoice I realised duplicate charges on the invoice which I had to call up to get refunded.
Considering my parrot was very ill and he suggested we come back for a check up the following week and potentially more treatment, he has not had the courtesy to get in touch with us to see how our parrot is doing and why we haven't returned for the suggested check up. After paying near £1000 I would expect this courtesy at the minimum.
I would definitely NOT recommend taking your pets to see Craig Hunt at Chine House vets. read more
