Almost 20 years later, nothing has changed. It's still the cash only 24/7 donut shop that I remember. The donut racks are always stocked, and there's a variety of muffins, sandwiches, smoothies, coffee and cold drinks to serve the community's cravings. When you need something different, you can also get some Siapo! (a steamed bun with your choice of sweet and sticky filling). Crest donuts is a staple of Ridgecrest, CA serving everybody from Early morning truckers to late night students.

Great place to stop for coffee on your way to work. Service is quick and everyone is always friendly! I usually just get coffee but they have a variety of smoothies and frappuccino-style drinks as well. Prices are super reasonable at only $4 for a latte. Would recommend to anyone staying in town who wants something better than hotel breakfast coffee at a good price.

The Ridgecrest Farmers market is now starting to feel like the Farmers markets that I've been to in larger towns. The vendors are selling everything from homemade furniture to fresh and locally farmed produce. There are several food booths selling breakfast and baked goods like cookies, pies, and bread if you're looking for something to munch on while you shop. Get out of the house and check it out. Information about this week's market can be found on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/RidgecrestFM/

There were about 3 vendors, two were produce, the last was pastries and jars of what appeared to be jams/jellies. My impression was that this is not a true farmer's market, because most of the produce seemed to be collected, and many had stickers with barcodes on them, ready to be scanned in a supermarket. Prices were almost exactly what you'd pay in a supermarket. One lady asked if the produce was organic from the larger vendor, and he replied that it was not, but it was pesticide free. He told her that even with "organic" food, it's hard to determine exactly how organic it is, and that oftentimes it's not. She gave him a snooty "I only eat organic" and went to the other vendor, which made me laugh. People like that just crack me up. I'd like to sprinkle some Monstanto RoundUp on her wheatgrass and run it over with a Prius, just for good measure. I left there with a bunch of kale, a few apples, and some avocados. I didn't even really want an avocado, but my family owns an avocado farm, so I figure I'd throw the industry a bone. The kale and the apples were great (juiced as soon as I got home), the avocado was crap. Just my luck. Bring your eco bag, your hungry eyes, fire up the hybrid or Subaru AWD, and enjoy shopping in a fun setting (a movie theater parking lot).

Delicious Obsessions does not refrigerate their Dubai Chocolate bars, but their kenufa filling is smoother. One of our buddies wants to have a Shabbat evening at the event, and while he's Jewish, he's not ALL THAT Jewish, so he's into joking around. Shabbat made me think of Labatt's Beer... we could have a Labatt Shabbat. He loved the idea so the hunt was on. This is a hard beer to find. After checking in to every place in town, we wandered into the Beer Cave. They didn't have it either, but a member of the staff (and so far the staff has been awesome) said The Guy could order it, if we came in the morning to talk to The Guy. I cannot, that just doesn't fit my schedule, and so we were bereft of Labbat. NOW... the Labatt website is incredible and it show what stores have the product and how much. It said Sage Mart had two units. We hopped in the Beer-Mobile and headed to the Mart. There it was on the shelf, in its beautiful blue packaging. I promptly bought both. I can only assume that The Staff talked to The Guy and he bought a couple six packs. Just today, I checked the Labatt website again, and it said there was more at the Sage Mart. I just bought their last six pack. I needed one for myself, before the Labatt Shabbat. Labatt Blue is DELICIOUS. It reminded me of drinking Moosehead as a lad, except it didn't have that moose-fart flavor. It is excellent. Anyway, that's my story. Good mini-mart.
