George is such a steal. I don't want to give him good reviews because then his prices will go up! He loves hair and is kind of like watching a violinist when he performs. He's a very talented artist, provided great customer service and overall just a really sweet and genuine guy. I hope Vero takes off, but not too quickly, because I don't want to pay salon prices for salon treatment! Parking is easy - lots of open spaces on Victory. Easy access all around. Usually I go to my barber but I went here just because my guy was off and I found this place is close to me and have a good reviews on Yelp I said let me try them out, honestly I made a big mistake because the hair cut was really bad (imagine I went to another place to fix my hair) and guy charged me a lot. They say "if you do what you love for work you'll never work a day in your life" and I think this completely encapsulates what George has created at Vero design. I've been going to George for a couple of months now and I can say with absolute certainty he is the best in the area. Not only in skill but in work ethic as well. When I first went to George I was in a weird place with my hair, I was trying multiple barbers with multiple styles and never really felt completely satisfied with their work, then I found my way into Vero design and never will I go to another barber. Not only was he willing to put up with my indecisive nature with my hair but he helped me to grow confident about it. On top of cutting it to perfection he showed me possible styles with my hair length as well as offered insight on hair products and hair care, which to me was a step beyond what was necessary or done by any of his competitors. He's very professionally trained and it shows. After many conversations with him I've learned that since he was a kid he has always dreamed to own a hair salon and I value this highly. It shows that he's doing what he does because he truly has a passion for it, he is genuinely an artist of his craft. He cuts men women and children and continues to explore his craft which is not necessary but damn is it appreciated, he remains current with style. He gives the sharpest fade I have ever seen and I can say with complete honesty that it's the best that others have seen as well. Just by walking around I've had family and co-workers ask where I go for my haircut and now I have people coming from as far out as Eagle Rock just for his work. There was a man I met at his shop that lives in Arizona and has usual business in L.A and waits to come back to L.a so George can style him, I think that speaks volumes. And the best part about George: he's worked in salons where they charge an arm and a leg for half-assed labor. And yet he charges less than all the competition in the area (there are lots) for no less than 100% of his effort. When I asked him why he would do that he humbly told me "it's what I believe is fair" which is not only something I admire immensely in business but as a person. He is a blessing to this city and I, as well as many others, will follow if he ever chooses to relocate. Do your hair a favor and visit Vero Design, and if you want the full treatment and education engage George. He at first seems a man of not many words but if you engage him he is a wealth of knowledge and an invaluable asset when it comes to style. After months of business together I consider not only my hair mentor but my friend as well. George is fabulous! My children, husband and I have come here for our haircuts and love it! His prices are reasonable, especially when a family is on budget. His business is in process of setting up for credit cards, but currently only accepts cash. I purchased their groupon a couple months ago (it's valid for several months), I called to make an appointment to get my hair done and a man named George absolutely refused to accept the groupon. Nice stylists and very attentive. I tried this place as it just opened up in my neighborhood and I love to be able to walk places. George quoted me $140 for highlights and a cut which I thought was a fair deal since I have paid upwards of $200 in the past. He ended up only charging me $115 as he felt that was all the highlighting I needed. I appreciate his work ethic and honesty and will be going back!
