I had the burger, fries, and a 7-up and strangely (for me) consumed every bit. It was all hot, fast, and of a high quality. Service was fast and friendly as well. We sat on the street and watched the many multi-national tourists walking by with their kids and dogs heading to and from the beach and other restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. When we return to HK a stay in Stanley will definitely be on our list to break up the noise, hustle, and bustle of the city. DEFINITELY give Stanley a try, you won't regret the 38 minute bus ride from Happy Valley.

Driving out to Stanley is always a treat, and on the 4th day of Chinese New Year, some of the shops are still closed. So when I got to Stanley Plaza and found that they are all open, it really made my day! After parking at the plaza, we walked along the promenade line with eateries and pubs, we decided on Pickled Pelican! This is a traditional English type pub serving mostly pub food with a focus on their burgers. Since, I just recovered I thought I would reserve the Burgers for a later date!! ( Yes, as they were paraded in front of me, I tell myself to make a point to come back for their burgers, they all looked so good especially when you cannot have it!!) So the healthy choice: Grilled Chicken Caesar it is...and sometimes your body will tell you what is good for you and what is not and I have to say, the whole order of Caesar would have been a perfect meal for anyone recovering from cold or flu, it consist of very very fresh Romaine Lettuce, cherry tomatoes, avocados, hard boiled eggs, air dried parma ham, anchovies and more! With a tall class of Ginger Ale, I felt rejuvenated and refreshed!! To add on the the festive mood, during our meal, the Loin Dance was performed at the restaurant to bring everyone Good Luck and added a bit of extra cheer for all!! So, thank Pickled Pelican! Thanks for the great salad and also the extra joy you have brought me during this Festive Season!

As of today,…read moreNovember 8, 2016, The Ocean has no star yet, bit if Michelin has their heads screwed on right, The Ocean will have one or two stars soon. With a Japanese trained Argentinian chef, the food at The Ocean has a zen like appearance, a delicate French touch, and an explosion of flavors. We opted for the smaller set menu at lunch, but we had plenty to eat. Our oyster pineapple starter was smashing, and each dish that followed was creative, unique and special. Service was very elegant and so Parisian. Yes, the waiter was from Paris. Management is also French, by way of Marseille. Our bill for four courses came to about 1000 Hong Kong dollars for two persons. Everything about The Ocean was tres magnifique. Go now, before it becomes too popular and passé. The trip to Repulse Bay is a short journey for such a divine meal. Bravo and Brava!

One of the dishes had comte cheese foam which brought Top Chef to mind. Molecular gastronomy displayed, but it did not feel forced or random. Favorites include the marinated scallops, snapper crudo, charcoal grilled sea bass and the passionfruit coconut dessert.

One of Hong Kong's most unique establishments, Tri gets kudos for some of the most beautiful decor…read moreI've ever seen. The gorgeous interior is matched with equally incredible views of Repulse Bay beach, making this one of the city's most romantic spots. Visually, this is the gem of the Le Comptoir group. As expected, the execution of their largely SE Asian (Balinese) menu is beautifully presented. Higher end Indonesian is serious business around here, commanding a higher price range and instagram worthy plating. During their dinner service, I've only had their beef rendang, nasi lemak, and a sample range of sates (satays). All were on point, even if the portion size leaves much to be desired. I've been told brunch is a good time to come here, but the menu choices (which include poached eggs, fried chicken for kids, and baby pork ribs) seems uninteresting by comparison. At around 130HKD a drink, their cocktails are pricey, but are a good vehicle for playing up the Bali resort experience. The Nusa Dua Grog (rum + lime/grapefruit juice + palm sugar syrup) is sweet yet potent, while the Padang Padang Lemonade (vodka with pimms, sweet + sour) is an easy choice for novice sippers. My favorite drink overall has been the Uluwatu Runner (tequila + maraschino liquor, bergamot juice, grenadine, cinnamon). I wonder if these drinks are actually available in Bali itself. I have had mixed reviews with the service from stellar treatment to slower than expected experiences. Most of the time, the bartenders are friendly and the wait staff is on top of it. Don't worry about mispronouncing the Indonesian dishes / drinks, chances are the staff is doing the same. Note: The massive long table in the main dining room is literally a tree. It is stunning. I wish I could've thrown a party here.

Overall great, but had higher expectations on the food. Everything tastes well but nothing really was memorable enough to mention in a review. Don't worry - our furry friends got their share of free flow water! The patio is the place to be, with great views of the water and it's 100% dog-friendly. I enjoyed some ice-cold Sapporo on draft which was a bit spendy at $50 HKD a pint, but I'm sure the excellent scenery is calculated into the prices. Also, the thin crust cheese pizza delighted and surprised: it was actually pretty good for an unassuming casual beach bar! I know I'll be back as this environment makes for one hell of a Sunday funday. Cheers!

It's the perfect spot for a beer or some food before or after a day at Deepwater Bay, or as a reward for the pleasant walk down to Repulse Bay and back. The food is a standard snacky menu, which matches the atmosphere. The pizza is thin crust and tasty, cut into small slices and great for sharing (a personal favorite). Fries and other items fit the bill for a beachside joint. They have a quality beer selection for a small bar, from the standard Tsing Tao and San Miguels to Sapporo on draft, while other more interesting beers are also available in the beer coolers. A full bar is also available, though I haven't tried their drinks. Perhaps most importantly (for me, anyway), it is extremely dog-friendly and is a frequent endpoint for us on walks or hikes with our dogs. The staff is really kind to the dogs and is always right there with a bowl of water for them (hey, they just finished a hike and deserve a cold one, too!). This is really appreciated, as not everywhere in HK is so accommodating to dogs, especially near the beaches. The only downside is that the prices for beer have shot up recently -- from about $25 to $50 in the span of a year. I'm not sure if it's a seasonal spike for the summer or if their rent went up, but it's a noticeable difference. However, the extra money is a small price to pay for such a laid-back spot, and we will no doubt continue to visit regularly.
