I had my first car insured through them, the only reason I went with Vern Fonk, was because no one else would insure someone with only a learners permit . Their rates however were double that of anyone else. But my biggest problem was the way I was treated on the phone, I am a woman with a deep voice, so when I first called about a quote and to purchase a policy , the price was hiked up. And when I asked why, I was told it was because I had put female on my form. I told him I was female, he then told me nice try man. I told him he that it does in fact say female on my I.D after that I was given the female price. If I had the choice of going with someone else at the time I would have. read more

I have had numerous insurance policies thru the Everett Vern Fonk Insurance agency. R.C. GREEN is my agent. My first policy was for my 18 year old son 8 years ago who needed special insurance because of his driving record. R.C. is very a very dedicated insurance agent. He is honest and upfront with the needed information about the available insurance policies. He is very kind and empathetic to the circumstances. He is a very detailed oriented agent who ALWAYS returns phone calls and emails promptly. He definitely found the best rate for this type of automobile insurance. In 2016 my wife and I purchased a house in Eastern Washington that was one of the few houses in the area to survive a a wild fire in 2012 because of fire proof construction building materials. Our house survived but the neighbors house burned to the ground. Even though the house survived we needed specialty insurance thru Lloyd's of London because of the fire zone where the house is located. R.C. worked very diligently to go thru all the hoops to get this homeowners policy. Like before he ALWAYS returned every phone call and email very quickly. It was crucial to get this policy for our house. R.C. took the process to completion and we got the homeowners policy that we needed at a fair price for this type of risk insurance. I cannot say enough about the Vern Fonk Everett office. And the same for R.C. Green. Customer service is HORRIBLE. Went in circles for SIXTEEN days and finally got it canceled! I got insurance and paid for it on 7/23/19. When they email the documents to sign, my name was spelled wrong. So I called immediately stating that it's spelled wrong and I need updated documents. I talked to a rep and he said he would send it over. The next few days, I went on a vacation but checked my email constantly for updated documents. NONE. I called the following Monday and the rep said I needed to scan my ID and email it to them to change my name. WHY DIDN'T THEY SAY THAT LAST WEEK?? I sent them an email with my ID and called the next day to follow-up. I told the rep that my name is spelled wrong and he said I need to send an email of my ID. Obviously, I'm more upset because I already did that and there's no communication on their end!!!!!! They looked through their email and found my email so they finally changed my name. That day I waited for an email but STILL NO DOCUMENTS sent to my email for me to sign. I waited an additional day and decided to just cancel my insurance altogether. I called again and they said I need to send a document with my name, policy, date, signature, and reason for canceling. I hang up and immediately type up the document and emailed it to them. I called the next day to confirm but the rep said I need to handwrite the letter. Why didn't they say that the first time?!??! I quickly wrote my cancellation document, email it to them, and called an hour later to confirm they got it. They did and mention to call two days later because of processing. Today, 8/9/19, I call and they say oh you need to wait until Monday 8/12/19 for it to be finalized. It took SIXTEEN days and a lot of phone calls to change my name, to never receiving documents for me to sign, and to cancel my policy. THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!!! DO NOT GO WITH VERN INSURANCE. With my name spelled wrong for half of the time and no insurance card sent to me at all, I would like my money fully refunded but with their horrible service, I just want to get away immediately and not have to deal with them anymore. read more

Anthony Chavez from Vern Fonk called me after I submitted a request for a quote online. I didn't know he was from Vern Fonk because I never heard him say exactly which company he worked with, and the website I requested a quote through was a third party place that basically went through several different agencies to find the lowest rates. When I googled his number (5035587232) I found it under that name and this business. Our initial conversation was fine, until he gave me his direct number and told me to call him with whatever I decide to do in terms of choosing an auto insurance provider. I don't have much experience dealing with salesmen, but this guy was too flirty and jokey to seem professional. He asked slightly personal questions that could relate to my eligibility for low cost insurance but still didn't seem necessary, and the way he spoke to me made me uncomfortable. On the form I submitted online, I marked my gender as non-binary, but somehow he could see that my sex is female, and addressed me as a "nice young woman" when first meeting/learning about me, which just seemed disrespectful and ignorant considering he could see all my other info and that was clearly marked. Anyway, I agreed to call him back later because he asked me to and because I didn't want him to call me again, but I later decided not to. He called me the next day six times between 1:54pm and 3:50pm, and the following day three times between 9:00am and 2:03pm. He called once more today, which is three days later, at 10:10am. I only answered the last of those first six calls, in which he made it seem like I'd already agreed to purchase a policy. I told him I decided I didn't want it and that I would keep looking around, I explained that his quote was too expensive for me and that I had a couple other options to look at. He said he would call back the next day at 5, but instead he called three times before 3pm and never actually called at 5. This is harassment. If most salespeople are like this, then I hope some of you are reading this and I hope you learn to stop harassing potential customers. I don't care if you work on commission (I do too, so I know what it can be like) but you cannot continue to harass people. You will lose business and you already have. I'm blocking Anthony's number and I will report any future calls from Vern Fonk. read more

Normally i don't write reviews but in this case to save anyone from making the same mistake i did, i will absolutely review and share my experience. This company is flawed, dishonest and extremely sketchy. Last month I had talked with an agent about getting liability insurance. She was kind and walked me through all of the steps. I had recently got a DUI and needed Sr-22 insurance to reinstate my license. She told me she put in the information regarding the violation and the added insurance. We agreed on a first time payment of $265 which is typical and then each monthly payment after that being $81 and some change sounds great right? i agreed to the terms and set up an automatic payment. so going into the second month once my license was reinstated i emailed a copy to my agent and all was good. I did not hear from her after that. as it came for my 2nd months bill to be due i noticed there was a LARGE amount taken out of my checking account. Instead of the $81 in which i agreed too they had pulled out $150. furious and confused i emailed her to contact me right away and explain what is going on. no reply. messaged her again an hour later letting her know the urgency and still no reply. So I called Vern Fonk, no one there could seem to help me and i kept being transferred to other departments before they transferred me to National General which was the company they chose for my insurance to go through. As i waited 15mins for someone to pick up i was emailing my agent AGAIN trying to get a reply. still nothing. Once i got to someone with National General they told me that because of my violation that's what changed my rate. I explained to them that my agent told me that would not effect the rate i was quoted at nor did anyone inform me of the change so the $150 they pulled out was not authorized by me and needs to be reimbursed. They refused to listen to anything i was saying or figure out a solution all they did was say they were transferring me to my agent with vern fonk to help me.. as if i hadn't already been trying to get a hold of her. so they transfer me... i sit on hold for 20MINS! listening to a freakin dial tone that never stopped before i hung up. emailed her again still no response and decided FORGET IT! and looked for insurance else where. Decided on GEICO who ended up giving me a great rate and discounts. They emailed me a document that i could forward to vern fonk and National General to get the money they took out reimbursed i sent this to the agent at vern fonk and explained my disappointment for the lack of communication. Still no reply, go figure. I then called National general to get an email when i could send the document to them as well. I did so and they told me they would send documentation of the cancellation and the reimbursement. Ask me if i got either? NOPE. so called again today emailed them about 4 times along with my agent second day now and no response. I have now decided that i am going to report this to the better business bureau for the lack of integrity and professionalism BOTH of these companies have shown me and also put in a dispute with my bank for the money they took out of my account. wish me luck, if nothing changes im surely not afraid to turn this into a LEGAL matter, and for the sake of anyone reading this and figuring out whether or not to use Vern Fonk or National General I say RUN! I do not typically write reviews but I am absolutely disgusted with the way I was just talked to by my "agent" I called last Friday, asking about my SR-22 that was no longer needed, was told it wouldn't really affect my policy rate, but she said she would shop around since I haven't had anything on my record in the past 3 years. Called today to follow up since I had not heard anything and she said that I have been calling her multiple times regarding this, when in fact my follow up phone call was almost 1 week later and was my second call to their office. She said "You don't need to call here everyday, your not due for renewal until May" I am aware I am not due for renewal until May, however she is the one that offered to shop around to try and find me a better rate, but snaps at me when I am following up on my policy. Was not informed my monthly payment was going to triple for the month of July when my policy was changed to a new vehicle. My agent lied and insisted she left me a voice-mail about it which was untrue because I still had the voice-mail and she made no mention of the larger payment, just that she had switched my vehicles and was going to get my new info to my lein holder. Did not appreciate the way the issue was handled or the fact that she did not acknowledge the mistake of not informing me. I've been doing business with this broker for over 5 years and work for a financial institution that brokers insurance as well. In the past when our quotes were too high for the customer I would recommend they check with Vern Fonk. I signed up for a free quote online and sent an email to my assigned agent, Andrea. When Andrea failed to respond for about 4 hours, I called her. She informed me she was with another client and would call me back in 30 minutes. I sat around my home for an entire day, unable to drive my uninsured new vehicle, missing work and picking up the kids from school. It has been 24 hours since contacting Andrea and she has yet to return my email or phone call. As someone who did not have an alternative means of transportation, Vern Fonk has only made my situation more stressful. We had insurance thru Vern Fonk in Everett WA for several years. I had a suspension and the guys at Jim Minnifie in arlington dropped my wife even though my name wasn't on her title, I didn't drive her car, and I wasn't even driving mine until I got the suspension lifted. (but that's another review. ;-) ) So we found that VF would insure both of us. For a price. We paid their high price for quite a while until we could build up a good history of on time payments and not switching companies so that when it came time we could get a better rate. We did get a better rate. Much better. The new company rocks! with VF I had liability only on 2 cars. Now I have full coverage on a new car, "nearly full coverage" on a second car (with twice the liability per vehicle than VF) and renters insurance. So long Vern! We faxed a cancellation notice to VF. No refund. Faxed it again. No refund. Called them, they said resend it. Faxed a third time. Called again and was told they didn't receive it. We started to get upset and they "found it". Still no refund. Then VF somehow told Safeco (our new insurance company that was NOT obtained through VF) to cancel our insurance! What the heck??? So they won't cancel the one through them but they cancelled our new policy? We called SF and they straightened it out and told us what VF did. So we got that fixed. But VF keeps stalling. We called them again and now we're waiting for a manager to call us back. I am NOT holding my breath on that one! So they didn't call my wife (who HAD been trying to deal with them) and I called them and started asking them what the heck is going on, I spoke with someone who was professional, helpful, and she helped me to get it all straightened out. We will see if she does or not and if we get the refund. read more

After a nightmare situation where they raised my rates after 10 months of perfect payment history and perfect driving record, my agent directed me to her COO, Craig Rexroat, who was about as rude as you could possible be. I still could not get a straight answer as to why my rates were jacked up for no reason. I tried to explain to him that most other insurance companies REWARD you for having a good driving record not punish you. He got very rude and said "Well, let me ask YOU a question: Does a loaf of bread cost the same as it did 25 years ago? If you dont understand how inflationn works then I can't help you" and HUNG UP on me. Yep, that's the COO of this company.
