I went to Verizon today to upgrade my phone. I specifically chose the Woodbridge, NJ location because it is a Verizon store and not an authorized retailer. Spoke with Alex, who informed me that secondary to the 5G 'starter' plan that I have, I was not eligible to upgrade at the store. I asked for an explanation and was informed that there are 4 levels of 5G plans. I have the least expensive plan and would be required to upgrade to a more expensive plan, in order to qualify for in-store service. Wow. I never have been so blatantly denied service. I did a review a week ago on Google but the store decided to hide it. Responded to the link they replied with but no response. Shows they don't care so I contacted the FCC & was able to get a executive to contact me about the matter. If you have a valid issue that is unresolved please file a complaint with the FCC it will help others. Original Google review below. This "corporate" store is a joke. I came in looking for a prepaid plan & asked the salesman if there would be a fee since it is a "corporate" store. He said there is & tried to tell me a $30 fee until I asked him "is this a corporate store?" he said yes. So I told him the website said a corporate Verizon store does not charge a fee to sign up for prepaid. Then he said there won't be a fee now don't worry. I even called Verizon & they said there wouldn't be a fee. I leave because he says I can't get service without a device connected & my phone isn't unlocked yet to activate. That's understandable so I call Verizon customer service to see if I can buy a sim from the store for now and they say yes. I come back asking to buy a sim & he says no he can't sell me one. That's fine, so we try to sign me up by connecting my phone a different way. I ask about acp & he acts clueless like he doesn't know what acp. is. There was a big sign right behind him that said acp. Dumbfounded I ask "do you not know what acp is?" after a minute he finally understands what I'm talking about. He then says I can't do acp with prepaid, only postpaid. I leave because I have to go, but I call Verizon customer service & the prepaid service department. Both departments say I can do acp & send me an email with a link to the acp program with Verizon. Webpage says "Home Internet, Mobile,Verizon Prepaid". When I walked in I knew what I was about to deal with. I came in looking to get service same day & leave with confusion. I came to this Verizon with my mother to help her upgrade to the iPhone 6. We waited 1 hr to speak with a sales rep. One. Hour. When we first walked in, we were greeted by an associate who lacked any customer service skills. He never made eye contact therefore would probably not be able to identify us even if we were both dressed in clown suits and makeup. He stared at his iPad entering data while asking us about what services we would need. The greeter spent his time hanging on the door like it was a tree. At other moments, you could catch him with one leg leaning on the glass door. I'm not blaming him, however. He was trained by their management, I'm sure. This store seemed like a better option than the Verizon stores located inside the malls since it appeared to be empty inside. This one is located just outside the parking lot of Woodbridge Mall. Well at this one hour mark, we have decided to leave -without being serviced. Two customers have already left asking to have their name removed from the waiting list before exiting. Very disappointing. Update: We were finally approached by Noelle who made the rest of our time at VZW very pleasant. We called over the manager, Therman, before we left who apologized for our wait. He admitted that they underestimated the rush they would have during the holiday weekend (?). There were more excuses shared than any resolve. Noelle's competence and personality deserves 5 stars. I had an unpleasant visit here. My mother and I both had an iPhone 6, so we were looking to upgrade to the iPhone 11. It has been a while since we upgraded, and although I looked online at the different features, I made an appointment with Verizon so that the sales rep could explain more of the features and show me more about the phone and review my plan and prices. My sales rep was Jenice. She basically told me that I would get $200 off if I went to the iPhone 11 Pro or the iPhone 11 promax. Not much was explained. I mean what is the point if this appt? I could've ordered the phone online and at least wouldn't have to feel like I was annoying the sales rep. Bc I did do some research before going here, I decided that I would go up to a higher model to fit my needs but I would have liked someone to really show me the features so I didn't walk out wondering if I made the right choice. There's nothing like investing $2000 into some thing and you have no idea what you're getting. Either way, I purchased the iPhone 11 Pro, and my mother purchased the iPhone 11. When I asked about the different features of each phone, I was given a generic, "more storage, better camera". I say generic statement because I can look that up online and find the same answer. Then I asked if they could set the phones up in the store, and she told me no I would have to do it at home due to Covid reasons. So wait, let me get this straight, I can go and purchase the phone in person and someone can sit with me for a half hour adding up all the different figures and making me get on my email and signing things, but no one can set up my new thousand dollar phone? Jenice did help me see how much it would be for my bill upon request, but that was it. When I asked if it was an easy to do the set up of the new phone at home, her only reply was, "I can't answer that. It would be easy for me because I would be able to do it in five minutes, but I'm not sure if it would be easy for you. However, you can always call tech-support. " oh yeah? Thanks!!! Now, that's all fine and good, but I went home with absolutely no knowledge of what to do. The only other thing she told me was to make sure both phones were on Wi-Fi, but she never told me that I had to have both phones next to each other in order to transfer the data or any part of the process whatsoever. I actually did not figure out what that meant until I was sitting with both phones and I couldn't transfer the data because they were on different wifis. I had to go on YouTube and watch a few videos in order to instruct myself on how to set up my two phones that are equivalent to $2000 of merchandise. (this is a lot of money ESP in times like this) I looked up the commission that sales reps make. And it seems that they make a 10% commission on the merchandise sold, which would be close to $200 commission for the sales rep who rushed us out of there, did not explain any features of the phones, and really wasn't polite or warm. I was observing another customer that was in the store with a different sales rep, and I was listening to the sales rep explain in detail about her phone, and I noted how appreciative the customer was Bc customer service goes a long way. I really should've walked out of the store and not given the sale to the sales rep, because it's really unfair how uncomfortable my mom and I felt. We got in the car and talked about how she was with us. Like why couldn't she be friendly? Is that an extra commission to receive kindness from the rep? Why was she in a rush to get us out of there? Why didn't she put the phone in and show features? It was such an awkward experience, and I will say I will take pause next time Im up for another upgrade. Maybe I'll just go elsewhere Bc other companies help the customers set up the phone. I have been a loyal Verizon customer for over 10 years, and the first time that I go to upgrade in years, I'm treated like I'm a nuisance and that maybe perhaps I'm annoying. To boot, I had to call tech support and the very nice rep Julian informed me that I had not finished the deactivation if the old phone and walked me through the steps. Why couldn't Jenice do that as well??? I mean, If the sales reps are not allowed to go through the set up process of the phone with the customer in person, yet they are making commission off of the phones sales, why can't they take their time out and call the customer once the customer has her phone set up and ready to be activated and #DATA to be transferred. Verizon needs to do much better if this is their policy that phones are not allowed to be set up in their store,. Perhaps they should give a $500 discount since they're not really providing any service other than cold selling of a phone. Kindness goes a long way.... let us never forget that. We should have, if anything, walked out of that store feeling good about our close to $2000 purchase and the way we were treated. read more

I REALLY try not to write any negative reviews of any business but if I don't it'd be insensible for anyone who tries to come to this location. A year ago I went to this Verizon store for to set up a family plan. A couple days later I found out that the specifics regarding the plan such as data and minutes were made incorrectly which were later rectified through a call. A couple weeks later, I notice I'm being charged on my bill for things I didn't agree to which were all traced back to the day I visited the store and set up the plan. The second time I visited the store was when I went inside with a damaged phone that was inoperable due to the battery. My main intention was to get a replacement since it was still relatively new as well as knowing that I was eligible for phone after verifying with customer service. Long story short, the employee who was trying to resolve the situation stated he could not give me a replacement unless I buy a bunch of accessories (even after he spoke to his manager) which cost in the ballpark of around $80-$90. I immediately left the store and spoke to corporate who resolved the situation by sending me a replacement with next day shipping. I decided to give them another chance today and within the first 30 minutes I already left. Reason? Multiple employees but nobody had the decency of asking me to sign in. Here's my tip: Don't come here. Avoid this place at ALL costs and go somewhere else more reputable. read more

Dear Verizon, I really do not appreciate the price hikes, the not being grandfathered and fighting for it- hate that I am so loyal that I have stayed with Verizon for over 15 years. hate that every time my cell breaks I have to fight to have my plan that I was grandfathered for. BUT- I went back and my representative was amazing - Astro of the Woodbridge store was out of this world- Never in my life with Verizon have I had a rep who knew his stuff. It's a very large store and they do have a lot of people working here and I usually leave here satisfied, whether it be for sales or service. Went in yesterday to buy a phone...Picked the phone and went to pay for phone and they told me I couldn't buy the phone and pay in full that I had to do monthly payments. Told them I never heard of not being able to pay cash up front for a phone and that I didn't want to be on a monthly payment plan....Representative went in the back and to talk to manager, came back and told me I could put a down payment on the phone for all but 1 cent and that would leave me with a balance of 1 penny to pay off the following month on the payment plan! Told the rep to put phone back I was buying from Amazon instead and he told me to wait while he talked to manager again, when he came back he said how lucky i was that special tech was there that evening and could punch in a "special key" that would allow me to pay for the entire phone that day! Called customer service and was told that was not a policy but that even though this is a company run store, the manager can run store whichever way he wants....wow.. so the store doesn't have to sell you a phone for full price I wasn't looking for a discount and I'm not on any payment or contractual obligation, no outstanding balance, always pay my bill on time.., I've always bought my phones up front and paid for them in full. We need 2 more phones and have decided to go back to the store to shop for the phones and compare then we will buy them on Amazon, get prime shipping and bring them back for activation... Something else not disclosed, even if you bring your own phone in or buy from them, they charge you a one time $20 Upgrade fee...that's on top of the full retail price... Phone returns within the 1 week 100% refund policy are still subjected to a $35 re stocking fee which makes buying your phone on Amazon just a better option, Amazon is an authorized seller so as long as you don't buy third party your warranty will be good for 1 year with Verizon. UPDATE 11/5/17 Why I pay for my phone upfront...If you do the math, it is cheaper. When you are on a phone payment plan, your typical line fee per phone is $40 and that price continues even after your phone is paid off.. If you own your phone outright, the line fee is only $20 per phone per month, so if you do the math, you are paying an extra $240 per year per phone line on top of the fact that you are being charged full price for the phone on the payment plan. Say we both pay $1000 for an iphone, your payment plan after 2 years costs you $1480...which makes it easier to understand why they want to sell me a phone with a 1 cent balance to pay the next month. That would have put me on the hook for an extra $240 in line fees per year for as long as I kept the phone . read more

First impressions always count and the store Manager (dark skin, older, medium size) incredible rude. I called Verizon in the morning and they contacted the store on my behalf. They set the phone aside for me. The name of the person who was holding the phone was Justine. In a very authoritative and condescending way said "thats not MY policy". I provided her with the name (Justine) and with a vindictive tone said HE IS NOT HERE AND IM GOING TO CALL HIM. This certainly sets the standard for this store and the customers impression very low. So MANY competitors and options out there that superior customer service SHOULD be a priority. However, is quite the opposite. Needles to say I will NOT be recommending the name brand "VERIZON" since it does not live up to its standards. Over the phone service its 100000 times better. It makes sense to downsize as more companies are doing. Employees (at this store) give great reason to customers to go To a competitor. I've been a Verizon customer for many, many years now; literally since the age of the flip phones. I am truly disappointed and upset with the services I recently received, hence why I'm sharing this. My brother was due for an upgrade on his line so we went to the Woodbridge store to check out if his phone was available. Kenny was the one who assisted us. He stated my brothers line can be upgraded early but only if we purchase a package bundle with the phone. So basically buy the phone and a tablet. As per Kenny, the accessories for the phone were FREE, and the tablet line was 50 dollars for the device then 10 a month for the line. My brother paid off for the phone in full. Everything was smooth that night, went home happy. Then the bill came; the bill was more compared to before and I saw charges that weren't supposed to be there. Went to the Verizon store around 11, demanded to speak Kenny because he was the one who made the transactions and messed up. Kenny wasn't going to show up To work till 1 pm, so I was told to either come back to the store, or Kenny will have to call me. Sure enough, Kenny did call me back, so I went back. Explained to him why my bill has these charges, and why they weren't taken off. He managed to take off one portion of the bill off because it was A GIFT CARD reimbursement from my brother paying off the phone and selling his old phone. But there was still 90 dollars remaining which came from accessories that was supposed to be FREE from the package deal that was 50 dollars, and a charge of 40 from the activation fee for the tablet that Kenny did not even explain to me when we first got it and was supposed to be waived off anyways. Kenny "claimed" that he was going to remove the 90 dollars off my bill later that day, and will call Me to let me know it's been done...5 pm comes...no call, so I asked my brother to call and follow up with him since I wasn't available to Make the call. My brother stated and said Kenny already took off the charges, and it would show up in 24 hours. 24 hours came, the deductions were never applied. Called Kenny AGAIN, he said to wait again till the bill changes....48 hours pass by...still no change ! So basically Kenny did not do his job. I was completely fed up with his services, so I decided to speak to someone on the online services. Tiesha was the one who assisted me this time. She was able to take off the 90 dollars charges after explaining what Kenny was supposed to do but did not. The charges came off within a couple of hours...so...why did it take more than three days for Kenny but only hours for Tiesha ? The world may never know. Or maybe Kenny just didn't do what he was supposed to do. All in all, thank you Tiesha for assisting me. If I am ever to come back to the Woodbridge store, best believe I will make sure not have Kenny again. Moral of the story here is; if you say you are going to do something, then DO IT. read more

As a long time customer and in sales myself , I was shocked how the manager couldn't offer me a solution to my phone issue that was caused by a verizon tech and then proceeded to try and sell me an additional line to just have in case this happens again! Seriously ??? I want even asking for a new phone, I just wanted the one I came in there with to work like it did before the tech messed it up. First, let me say I switched from T-Mobile on 7/12/14. On 9/20/14 went to the store and waited not more than 10 min.,great. When asked the reason for my visit today? I explained I was interested in the LG G3. I was told i am not eligible for an upgrade. I know that its a little over 2 months since I signed up. I asked about the new program called EDGE, not eligible. Why? I have to be with them 2 years. Ok, let me buy it outright.Cant.Why? They scan $199.00. Huh? We are not able to scan the full retail price, but if you go to Best Buy or Radio shack we can hook you up.Huh? The "Best carrier" in the nation is directing me to purchase equipment at another retailer. The worst thing I did was switch. Why? I spent over 3 hours on the phone with customer care, making sure the promises made were kept. Otherwise it would have cost me over $150.00. I will find another carrier this weekend, and sue them if they decide to charge me ETF, and have them answer to a judge. By far the best experience at a Verizon store I've ever had. My boyfriend and I both had broken phones and were not eligible for an upgrade for another year and a few months. The first verizon store we went to in Hazlet didn't help us at all and told us there was nothing they could do for us and we experienced such bad customer service there, we were ready to leave Verizon all together. However, upon walking into the woodbridge location, the sales rep, Howay, helped us out right away despite our current situation. He was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and took care of us in every aspect and went over everything multiple times to make sure we were okay with everything. We were never pressured to purchase anything or forced into anything. He walked us through everything one step at a time, and he got us into two brand new phones and so many other perks. I highly recommend you go visit the woodbridge verizon and go see Howay, we're absolutely loving our new Galaxy S6's and our new plan and couldn't be more satisfied. read more

The worst experience ever! I went to the store to change my phone since it just stopped working completely. I spoke to salesperson who said they don't have spare batteries to check if there is a problem with it, no technician to see what's wrong and all they can do since it's under warranty they can overnight me a new one. I spoke to the manager, Greg if there are any other options. He was extremely unprofessional and nasty saying this is the only option. No apologies, no other suggestions. I have had so many problems with this store and their employees. They took my phone that I traded in and never gave me the gift card for the trad in. I work in retail and I know that when the store closes and there are still customers in the store it could be annoying but that doesn't mean that you don't help the customer the way you would if you were open. The lady that was attending me had a Bluetooth speaker that was blasting the entire time she was talking to me, which made it hard to hear, talk and was overall annoying, told me that the manager was too busy to terminate my line because she couldn't do it, so she said the manager would do it later on. Yeah, well that manager never did it. So I was charged for that line. I called customer service who called the store to question them on my situation and the store had told the customer service representative the same story they gave me. Third time calling customer service and I think I'm getting somewhere but it shouldn't need three calls to for me to feel like I'm "getting somewhere". Never going there again. read more

I came into the store today because my iPhone 5s had really bad water damage. The woman who greeted me at the door was very nice and approachable. I was informed that I would be helped very shortly. I would say within 1 minute I was approached by sales person HOWAY. Howay was VERY professional, approachable, and most importantly knowledgable. I explained my situation and he was of immediate assistance. I upgraded to the IPhone 6 (loving it so far). Howay made me feel very comfortable and he answered all of my questions HONESTLY. I never felt like he was trying to "get over on me". I felt the customer service was very genuine. I wasn't rushed. Everything was explained to me in detail and I can honestly say that as a customer with verizon for 7 years, this has been one of the best experiences thus far. I expressed how great the service was to his manager Ericka, who was also very personable as well. I'll only be coming to this VZW from now on ! The energy was upbeat and the music was good too! There are few representatives here that will provide good service. Overall experience with verizon has been below what I expected for the service I thought I was getting. I was grossly misled by in store rep as well as customer service for the services I was looking for. There were repeated errors on my bill that kept popping out. The solutions representative at the store was good at noticing it, and apologized for the inconvenience. It is still annoying to have to go in store and wait in line to finally have the rep find the error, and the outcome was the bill still contained the errors! If you can find another carrier, go for it. I have two lines with verizon and opted to discontinue one line. Went to store to inquire about second line, the staff was very rude after seeing that one of my lines was cancelled and didn't notice that I still had the other line. I was sold a faulty device, mistakes on bill and bad customer service. Decided to remove the second line. read more
