Airosurf Communications - Airosurf antenna, still on my roof after service cancellation.

    Airosurf Communications

We had Airosurf for nearly 10 years, in Arcadia, Oklahoma…read more For the most part, their internet service worked. It was slow and not super reliable, but we lived in the country and Airosurf was our only "non satellite" option. But then we started having real problems. Every day at 6 pm (on the dot, like clockwork), our internet speed crashed to almost nothing. We could not even watch streaming service on one television -- everything else was unplugged. It's like someone flipped a switch at 6 pm every day and turned off our internet. So we called to ask for assistance. What followed was 2 months of extreme frustration with respect to Airosurf's poor customer service -- and 2 months of no internet or television after 6 pm. The front office lady was nice, but couldn't really help us. She would send us to the tech people who actually seemed to be angry -- Airosurf techs would say everything looked fine on their end, and it must be something in my house that caused the problem. They literally said it wasn't their problem and I was the cause, and I needed to fix the problem myself! Holding an electrical engineering degree myself, I troubleshot the problem, looking for any transmissions violating the FCC that could interfere with my wireless internet. I added chokes to everything. I unplugged everything. I went as far as unplugging my home alarm system to verify nothing in my house was causing the problem -- Airosurf continued to be angry, unhelpful, and dismissive. They just didn't care. After about 2 months of my internet shutting down at 6 pm (not coming back until sometime around 2 am), they sent a tech out to my house and said they moved my connection to a different tower. It seems Airosurf was in the process of upgrading their system and they had too many customers on a single tower. When everyone came home from work and turned on their TV at 6 pm, it overloaded the system and nobody got internet services. After that, our internet service was somewhat "normal", though it continued to be slow and not super reliable. A few months later, we started seeing other short internet outages that always happened at the same time every day. These outages were only 10 minutes or so long, so we just accepted it and didn't ask for any more "dismissive help" from Airosurf. Airosurf likes to tell people they are a small family owned company, and therefore customers should give Airosurf a break and accept their poor quality service. I firmly believe the problem with Airosurf is the NEPOTISM -- I think the entire company is made up of family members who got their job because they are family (not because they hold an engineering degree or have any idea what they are actually doing). Since they are family, they have no fear of losing their job, so they just do not care. This is a real problem! When we were offered much faster, much more reliable, fiber optic internet service for LESS MONEY than Airosurf, we jumped at the opportunity. When we called Airosurf to cancel, they didn't even ask why. They said they would later make a decision about picking up their equipment (modem and antenna on my roof), but they never called back or came to pick up their equipment. Just bizarre people at a bizarre company. I do not recommend Airosurf.

Love, Love, Love this company. Forever, I thought AT&T probably hung the moon. I was even afraid to switch because I'd been with them for somewhere close on Cellular to 40 years. Try to stop something you don't want through AT&T. You literally have to go into the store to stop something. Go to T Mobile. See what you can get thru the. I really enjoy my Netflix, Hulu. TUBI AND Pluto. All free on your phone, and you can hook it up to your home TV. Best switch and only switch I've ever done for cell phone. I would not go back to my illusion of the Granbury of the other cell phone company. I know this was supposed to be internet service but if it has AT&T on it attached in anyway or buying out an existing company. I'm out. I can't stand this company. Be aware if you go with these people. Make sure the letter they send you either says do what you want with their equipment or they tell you to return it. I stop using them once. Got an email tell me to bring in my used equipment. About a week later I got another email tell me to just keep it. They didn't want it back. Then they sent me another email several weeks later telling me they were going to sue me because I hadn't returned their equipment. I called them and told them let's dance. I've got all my documentation of what you told me to do two different times. In fact I still have their equipment just I'm case. You do business with them if you desire but look at their rating.

So beware of these con artist because the reviews also had a few customers telling others to watch their bank accounts .Warning do not use this company unless you want shitty service and them to steal from your bank account .

I asked how fast it was and they told me that if it wasn't sufficient it would only cost $99 to cancel the service. First, it is so slow that I CAN NOT send pictures in my emails. My husband can load a youtube video on his 3G iPhone and watch it before the computer can even load the page. You can not stream video at all so Netflix is out of the question. Facebook will hardly load and when it does you can not play ANY games or watch the linked videos or anything. Then for Christmas our boys got iTunes cards so my one son bought Diary of a Whimpy Kid... approximate download time on Hughesnet? 37 hours. Ya I said thirty seven. So it started downloading and after only 2 hours it stopped and we got an error message saying we had exceeded our bandwidth for the day. So I called and was told that between the hours of 1AM and 5AM you can download all you want, but all other times you are limited... obviously limited so much that you can't download a simple movie off of iTunes. So for over 17 days I stayed up until 1AM to start the download for this one stupid movie for my son. It took 17 days because there were days that I had gone to bed and the internet 'lost connection' and stopped the download. Grrrr. So, along with all this, we get the second bill that was for $60 instead of $47 so I called and got a supervisor who said that he found the problem and had fixed it. All was fine for another couple months when my account (btw, they auto debit my account which I never authorized) and they had charged me $77 so I called again and was told that the $47 was only good for 3 months and that I had a two year contract not a one year contract and that it would cost $368 to cancel my account. When I asked for a supervisor I kept getting the same thing. So I asked to be transferred to someone who could do something about it and they said they couldn't. I said "so let me get this straight... you have an American reel me in, and American explain and have me sign the contract and an American come out to install and once I sign and am hooked I now get someone overseas who can't do anything about it and can not ever talk to another American again?" and then man said "yes, unfortunately that is the case"... He said that he has two options, the billing and cancellation department are in the Philippines and the tech dept is in India. Seriously??? Then I read the other review here and called @Link, they will give me the same speed as Hughesnet for only $39/month and NO contracts!!!! AND my neighbor has them and they said that their internet is screaming!!! Way faster than Hughesnet. So... bye bye Hughes net... it is worth the $300+ to get rid of you! Word to the wise... stay away from this company! Hughesnet internet is not only slow but they do not honor their contracts at all.
