I took a live online course with Ethan with Chris Speck as our TA. I was wary before taking the course for a few reasons. First, I had already taken a Manhattan Prep course and I hadn't seen a score improvement. Second, it was an online course and I thought it wouldn't be as good. Finally, I didn't think anything could help me improve my score. Well. Ethan (ET) was an AMAZING teacher. He brings the class to life, is incredibly engaging, and is hysterically funny. I have a full time job and work 11/12 hour days which is all to say that I'm exhausted when I get home. So it's a true testament to how excellent a teacher ET is that I am excited to learn and feel 100% engaged by the material he's teaching (my course was from 8-11pm). I can't speak highly enough of him. During my practice tests I hear him in my head saying: "NOBODY EXPECTS THE DIFFERENCE OF TWO SQUARES!!" And I know people talk about his great fool's strategy but seriously, it sticks with you and it's hilarious. His strategies stay with you during the test. Believe it or not, he makes studying for the GMAT (well, GMAT class at the very least) fun and makes the test feel beatable. He's excited to teach and it comes through the screen. Take his course, you won't regret it. I thought I was a lost cause but in the 6 weeks of his class, I improved by 70 points (!!!!) and I'm not done yet! Still not at my dream score but I CAN TASTE IT. Chris was extremely helpful and provided great feedback throughout the course. He would check in during class to make sure you were understanding. To add to that, I emailed Chris and ET a few times with questions and updates. Both were very helpful and Chris's responses were amazing. He answered every aspect of the question and sent me very detailed responses, helping to comfort my fears and sending useful tips on how to study. The only negative is that the MGMAT foundational books are more thorough for people who need to learn the math skills than the Veritas books are. But after you've mastered the foundations, Veritas does a far better job of teaching you how to actually take the test. The strategies for taking the GMAT that Veritas teaches are excellent. I am NOT an engineer or a finance kid and while I do math for my job, it's mostly percentages and I hadn't taken a math class in 6/7 years. ET and Veritas teach you that this is actually a logic test and the idea is to do as little math as possible. In fact, when I see a complicated problem, I know to pause, think of Ethan (WWED) and consider what this question is actually trying to test. So thank you. To calm people's fears about an online course, it's actually extremely convenient and it's as engaging as you make it. You won't get cold called (maybe other teachers do that but ET doesn't) but you're very engaged. Any questions you have, any at all, you just type into the chat box. I loved my fellow class mates and we all interacted very well together. ET and Chris created a points system (not sure if other teachers do this as well), which helped to foster classroom interaction. The system was excellent and my computer, which normally can't handle a basic skype call, was perfectly able to live-stream the class. I never encountered disturbances in my connection I was unable to fix with a basic refresh, which only needed to be done during one of my classes. I don't know what kind of magic you Veritas people are working but it's great. HIGHLY recommend this course and take it with Ethan! HE'S THE BEST!!!!! read more

I recently completed the Veritas GMAT prep course, offered in the online format with Ethan Todras-Whitehill as the instructor. On test day, I scored a 48Q/41V (730), with a 6 and an 8 on the essay and IR, respectively. Though I did not take the GMAT before I enrolled in the Veritas class, I would conservatively estimate that my score would have been 70-80 points lower if I had not taken the course. Between time spent attending class and studying/completing problem sets, I would estimate that I dedicated about 120 hours to my GMAT prep over the course of 2 months. Overall, my experience was superb, specifically breaking out my thoughts on 1. The Veritas curriculum, 2. The online course format and 3. Ethan's instruction. 1. The Veritas curriculum was extremely thorough, and very closely resembled the types of questions I saw on test day, in both the verbal and quant sections. Materials provided come with a "pre-class work" section and a problem set for homework, so you will have plenty of practice and time-on-task if you complete every practice problem provided. Additionally, Veritas provides answer explanations through their website which can be super helpful. If you're aiming for a 750+ score, you may feel the need to purchase additional problem set books that are tailored toward the most difficult problems. 2. Going into this class, I'll admit that I was skeptical of the online format, having never taken an online class before (at university or otherwise). Looking back, I can comfortably say that the online format does not hinder the learning experience at all--if anything, it makes asking questions easier because you can simply post a question to the chat board without having to stop class. I never had trouble reading what was on the screen, and during the entire 6-week course, we only had one minor hiccup with the video feed that was fixed in under 5 minutes. 3. What really made this class so wonderful was the quality of instruction provided by Ethan Todras-Whitehill and his teaching assistant, Chris Speck. Ethan has a gift for communicating dense, nuanced (and often boring) information in such a way that you stay interested and engaged. He is able to take daunting concepts and deconstructs them down to their building blocks, which he then pieces together gain, adding a layer of well-thought-out intuition to help hold things together. Additionally, Chris was phenomenally responsive at answering questions both in class and via email outside of class hours. The GMAT is a difficult exam, and a great deal of that difficulty is due to the fact that the GMAT is deliberately written to reward people who have the most diverse array of skills. The Veritas program, particularly under the instruction of Ethan and Chris, will provide you with the tools and the confidence you need to achieve your best score. That's not to say that success will come automatically, of course--I put in about 120 hours of prep over the course of two months--but if you are highly determined to achieve an elite score, this is your ticket. read more

When I started to prepare for the GMAT I felt like standing infront of a high mountain, without knowing a path to climb to the top. After two weeks in which I had solved random problems from the official guide I realized that I need a more basic and structured approach to attack the "GMAT-mountain", because I was missing some basic concepts which are essential for the GMAT (but how often do you do a prime factorization after the fifth grade) and some strategys that help to solve the tasks faster. After some online reserach I decided to take the Veritas Prep course because of the following reasons: 1) An extensive supply of prep material, online resources and online courses 2) Online courses that were offered at times when I was able to participate from Europe 3) Great reviews and recommendations at pages like these I took the 36 hours online course, which included all of the GMAT-prep books from Veritas as well as a year long access to all online resources. The structure of the course is really student friendly and helps you to stay focus all the way. Before every lesson there is a skillbuilder section in the book belonging to the class that helps you to refresh your basic knowledge and gives you a strong basis to build on. First I was a bit sceptikal about the online course thing because I am a person who prefers personal interaction over online communication. But Veritas found a great way to make the online courses as enjoyable as possible - even for people like me. The live sessions are always fun because you can interact with you instructor and classmates live via a chat function. In addition the interface offers a poll option to see wheather you woud have gotten the right answer. I have to admit that at the end I really enjoyed the online thing - sitting at home and not spending useless time on the subway or bus is great! But the greatest and most valuable asset of the course was Ethan, my instructor. He has a very easy going and entertaining manner of showing you how to improve your problem solving and how to attack even the hardest GMAT problems. His didactic abilities are extraordinary and you can feel how much fun he has in every lesson. He also provides you with a lot of additional problem solving strategies that are not mentioned in the Veritas books and he as well as the TA of the course will be avialable to help you with any additional questions during the course as well as after the course until you took your GMAT and got the score you are satisfied with. All in all I only can hardly recommend to take a course with Veritas, and if you can, get into Ethans course. read more

Veritas Prep is an amazing GMAT prep experience. It is evident that the organization gave careful thought to the structure of their student experience, from the sales experience, to the comprehensive online student portal, to the creative (and sometimes appropriately wacky) teachers. During the sales experience, I spoke with someone over the phone and he quickly answered all of my questions and then some. He also followed up diligently and concierged me into the experience (I purchased the package about two or three weeks before the course started and the sales associate helped me get up and running during that lead up time). Once you enroll, Veritas Prep gives you access to an online student portal that houses a study plan, practice tests, practice problems, videos and recordings of your class. I found this one-stop shop very intuitive and helpful to help organize my efforts (because we all know that GMAT studying can go in multiple different directions). They also sent me 12 dense lesson books; spend the time to read through them, they have some good content in there. I really liked the philosophy of Veritas Prep (focus on strategy and reasoning, rather than content memorization). A previous course that I took did not touch on strategy at all and I think that's what prevented me from realizing my fullest potential. I took an online live class with a teacher by the name of Ethan Todras-Whitehill. He is a little bit out there, but at the same time, you almost need someone like that to help bring the content to life, engrain it in your mind so come test day you remember certain techniques. The classroom environment he created was extremely collaborative (I've never taken an online course before, so I was pretty impressed with the technology as well). Ethan also went 'off-book' at points, supplementing the prescribed Veritas Prep material with his own creative slides to help further enforce the strategy and content. Ethan also focuses more on strategy and helps you understand why strategy is so important on the GMAT. At first I didn't trust some of the strategies, but once I gave them a try, I became a believer....THEY WORK! It's evident that Ethan has invested additional time to facilitate a robust learning experience, which I can say was effective at engaging me and keeping me coming back for more. All in all, i'm in believer in Veritas Prep and would highly recommend the course. read more

The company: Veritas Prep is an EXCEPTIONAL company. I was blown away by Veritas's customer service. From the first time that I called them to the last time I talked with them, I always received the same representative who had my file pulled up and was ready to help. I had to delay my books being shipped because I was out of the country and they did it in a matter of 30 seconds. They even call you from their end in the middle of the course to make sure you are getting everything out of it or if they can help make it better. Highly recommend the company for their customer service and more (See below)! The materials: When the materials arrived for Veritas it was really well packaged and honestly it was a little overwhelming because there was so much! They have something like 12 books each on a specific topic. The books are REALLY well organized and laid out. Having seen some books from Manhattan Prep from a friend, Veritas's were far better in my opinion. The books are detailed thorough, and have lots of practice problems. The instructor: Ethan is AWESOME. He is a fantastic instructor who does everything in his power to make sure students are engaged and learning! He came to every class full of energy even though our classes were from 7pm - 10pm. He is incredibly, incredibly smart and he is very good at explaining his approach which is what makes him a great instructor. He provides his own material along with the Veritas material and it's all really helpful! As a graduating senior, I've had many, many professors over the last four years and in the few weeks that I had with Ethan, I'd rank him as top 3. The Live Classroom: If you're concerned about the love classroom format, don't be! It is actually the perfect mix of getting live instruction without having to go somewhere. it was REALLY convenient and easy to use. The way the system is set up, you can see and hear the instructor, but you can only type from your end (he can't hear or see you). I can't recommend Ethan Todras-Whitehill enough. When I signed up for my course with Ethan, I had already taken the GMAT once and was worried that I wouldn't be able to break through the ceiling I had hit after a few months of study. Almost all the test materials I had previously encountered centered on the idea that to beat the GMAT one must master and apply certain necessary tricks and strategies. In his instruction, Ethan covers these tricks and strategies and is quite adapt at illustrating when each should be applied; however, what sets him apart is his ability to transform each GMAT into a series of decisions. I think this is what most companies are trying to get at when they say "think like the test maker," but there is a distinct difference between memorizing and identifying patterns and truly understanding the test's underlying logic. To do this isn't easy, but Ethan's ability and willingness to work through the underlying logic on questions, and even answer questions about how the answer would change if a certain piece of information were to change, is exceptional and made all the difference for me. I would recommend the in-person class; however, with Veritas there is always the option to retake the course. In my case, I started, but did not complete Ravi's online course, and then a few months later took Ethan's in person class. Given that the formats differed, I can't make a true comparison between the two instructors, but do feel there is more depth to Ethan's instruction, which can make all the difference if you find yourself able correctly answer questions, but struggle to do so efficiently. There is huge difference between taking the time to prove without a doubt that something is correct and being able to quickly know that something is logically correct. After much deliberation, I pulled the trigger and went with a Veritas online class. Veritas has a phenomenal reputation among Junior Military Officers, and offers a discount for all IAVA members. I loved that the course forced you to relearn basic math and English on your own time via the skill builders instead of wasting precious class hours. 99% of the class time is dedicated to showing you the ins and outs of the GMAT and teaching you how to "think like the test maker". The true game changer of the Veritas Prep Live Online Course was my instructor Ethan Todras-Whitehill. I was at first hesitant to sign up for an online class because I felt it would lack the classroom atmosphere necessary to truly become engaged. This reservation was squashed within five minutes during the first class. Ethan's personality and energy made the online experience absolutely phenomenal. Getting a class of 20+ students from all over the world to participate via keyboard cannot be an easy task, but Ethan somehow managed to keep everyone involved from day 1 until the end. Many of the critical thinking techniques that I found most valuable came from Ethan's "E-File". These Ethan-specific strategies and tips were taught using humor and relatable everyday examples. This course was simply amazing. About a few months ago, I realized that getting an MBA may be something I am interested in, and this got me interested in taking the GMAT. Initially, after doing some research about the exam, I was extremely confused. A few friends recommended me a few courses such as Kaplan, ManhattanPrep amongst others. While I was initially sold on these courses, I realized that Veritas Prep was constantly a top rated teaching company with very strong reviews (in hindsight I understand why). I ended up going with my gut and enrolling in the Veritas Prep course with Ethan Todras-Whitehill, and it ended up very well in my opinion. The course is engineered to make understanding and beating the GMAT easiest for you, the person taking the exam. Every trick and trap is explained in a very accessible manner, and what's more, is that the instructor is there to help you in every way possible. In fact, I felt that Ethan was less of a Teacher, but more of a friend who was efficiently guiding me through a problem I was about to face. Moreover, the course is about 3 hours a day, 2 days a week and this was quite manageable due to the way Ethan teaches. He keeps you engaged (often doing little skits, and making great jokes to lighten the seemingly daunting atmosphere which the GMAT creates). Needless to say, however, Ethan knows his stuff. He mentioned scoring a 780 on the GMAT, and he shows you how to tackle the GMAT bit by bit. All in all, a great course. I recommend it highly- you cannot go wrong. It is a little more on the pricier end of the spectrum, but higher prices fetch higher quality, and if you manage to get in with Ethan, you're in for a treat. read more

I am really satisfied with Veritas Prep and, particularly, with Ethan Todras-Whitehill, an excellent tutor for the GMAT preparation and, probably, one of the best instructors I have ever had considering all educational institutions I attended. Needless to say that the GMAT preparation course is well structured, consistent and challenging in order to succeed with the GMAT; Ethan was an excellent instructor for many reasons: first of all, his ability of turning difficult content into simple concepts for better understanding that I am sure that even my grandma would have understood all the content; Ethan's pragmatic approach proved to be for me very effective to learn strategies and call-to-actions to the different type of questions on the GMAT, staying away from boring and not so effective theory that other academies offer; furthermore, I was really surprised with his professionalism but friendly approach to deal with us, different students from different backgrounds spread across the globe, and this was something completely unexpected for me as I was not really sure how effective would be an online live-on course. Moreover, we even had a wonderful Teaching Assistant, Ed Matthews that help in both the operational and the pedagogical sides of the course to make sure that the quality of class was not resented for any technical issues as well as to support the lesson content. Ethan's class was great! So I haven't studied at all since graduating college in 2014 and needed to brush up on a lot my basic grammar and algebra skills. However, the class went at a smooth pace where I was still able to follow through (but not too slow, as there were many concepts that were covered). His passion is reflected in his courses as he really cares that students gain a solid understanding of the material before moving on. A lot of the concepts taught in class tie in very neatly to one another and you will learn early on that much of the materials do not require memorization. He will give you some neat tricks to identify the type of question and exactly how to tackle it, much of the concepts (if studied and practiced enough) become almost foolproof. It's also helpful that he gives students lots of questions to do in class and with each example, he will provide a concrete explanation as to why an answer is right/wrong. You will become an expert in identifying all the traps that are woven into the GMAT and with the in-class practices Ethan provides much of it becomes second nature to watch out for the traps and choosing the best approach for each question type. Ethan is able to make the courses entertaining with real life examples, movie references, etc. which makes the 3 hours of each class go by much quicker than you would expect. At this point, I have no solid date signed up for the GMAT but I feel much more confident when I study on my own (as this course has put me on the right track and provided me with plenty of quality study materials). read more

Veritas Prep is by far the very best GMAT Prep course available, and worth every single penny. I was so stressed and worried about taking the GMAT, and before coming to Veritas Prep I wasted over $1000 on a comparable course and was told genius strategies like 'backsolving'; this would have been fine if I was only hoping for a 550...Instead I needed above a 700. I took the Saturday course in Manhattan with Ethan (who has migrated closer to you lucky West Coasters), but sat in on two weekday courses as well when I had to miss a Saturday due to illness. Although the instructor had a different perspective on certain topics, he was also just as extraordinary. VP thoroughly explains EVERYTHING to you, and does not treat you like a child who forgot how to do 8th grade Math, like the other course I took. Veritas offers infinite online resources, tests, reviews, quizzes, and online real-time help on Sunday nights in a class setting, as well as call-in help every day of the week. I cannot express just how amazingly accommodating Veritas is at every step of the way. They even offer a free, one-time repeat of the course, the only condition being that you do in fact attend the class and complete the homework. I didn't take my test for a few weeks after my course ended due to travel, and my instructor consistently checked in on me, and has been invaluable. I am happy to say I just scored above a 700 on the GMAT, and am comfortable that I will get accepted into an incredible business program. Veritas Prep is worth every penny!! Ethan is a compassionate and dedicated teacher. He literally dreams of GMAT questions, on the first day, he said, "I woke up with a great GMAT question in my head....". He delivered a multitude of strategies for improving on the GMAT, in addition to some highly entertaining teaching methods that make it hard to forget his strategies (this is a good thing!). Specifically, Ethan's Data Sufficiency strategy is mind blowing and if your struggling with DS you should work with Ethan. Having a technique for answering GMAT questions is very important and my biggest take away from the class was learning the different techniques how to apply them. Veritas Prep provides helpful skill builders, lessons, and homework problems for each of the sections covered on the GMAT. If you taking an Intensive course its best to do the skill builders and some homework problems from each of the books before class starts because you will not have much time in the evenings to prep. The course covered two topics each day and had two review sessions throughout the week. I would highly recommend Ethan as a teacher and the Veritas Prep materials. They have a huge data base of questions to practice and detailed solutions available online. They are also hugely supportive of their clients, allowing you to take as many courses as you need to before the big day! Overall, if your nearing test day and want to get the best score possible take a course with Ethan, or Veritas in general. I was positively surprised and motivated by my experince. read more

The Veritas Prep instructor was fantastic! He made the class interesting and maintained a good pace, which was accessible to everyone. The first time I took a practice test I scored 690, but it felt like a bit of a fluke and I wasn't confident that that was a score I could improve (or even replicate) on the day of the actual test so I looked at the various courses. Although Veritas Prep looked a lot more serious and professional than some of the others (with the exception maybe of Manhattan GMAT), I was still worried that the course was not going to address my needs. I signed up anyway, thinking it couldn't hurt, but as it turns out the materials Chris (the instructor) covered, particularly the methods and strategies, proved an enormous help. Immediately after the course I felt a lot more confident about taking the test (including that awful AWA), and I would not have felt that way without the Veritas Prep instructor's know-how and concern. On the day of the test, 3 weeks later, I felt serene, self-assured and was able to score 750 (5.5 AWA) without breaking a sweat... This is definitely a class I'd recommend, whatever your improvement goals. There's something in there for everybody, and it never gets too hard or boring. A friend of mine recommended the Veritas online weekend course. It was Saturday and Sundays for 3 hours each day for 6 consecutive weeks. I had never taken an online interactive course before so I didn't know what to expect. After the first class with Ethan I knew I had made the best choice for both the class and professor. Ethan's teaching and communication style are very engaging and easy to follow. He makes students feel welcome during class and connects with them immediately. He breaks the content down and includes his own notes, suggestions, tricks and tips, which honestly could be the most effective takeaways from some of our lessons. The content he creates in addition to the provided materials are grade A work and worth the price of admission. The whole reason I picked Ethan as my professor was because he had an excellent rating on Veritas' site. I knew that every Prof on Veritas would be sharp, but Ethan was everything I had hoped for and more. He genuinely cares about success of his students and it shows through in everything that he does from start to finish. If you're new to interactive online courses and concerned that you won't get the attention or engagement that you would from an in-person classroom setting, no need to worry, this course with Ethan will eliminate all of those concerns. read more

Three months ago I hit the wall with my GMAT preparation after having taken the test twice and failing to crack 700 both times. My quant continually let me down and my exam technique was poor. The good folk at Veritas Prep put me in touch with Stuart Park and I signed up for private tuition delivered via online meeting. I was initially uncertain as to how the format would work but Stuart was very accommodating with the time difference and the delivery of the tutelage was seamless. You barely notice that you're not in the same room. Stuart has in-depth knowledge of the workings of the GMAT test itself, and he provided incredibly useful up-front advice about how to handle time pressure and manage overall test strategy. This made a big difference to my exam technique and provided the edge on the day. On top of that, Stuart has an uncanny ability to simplify complex questions and take you through the easiest approach. Anyone who's tried using the GMAT Official Guide will be familiar with how complicated some of the answer explanations can be. Stuart continually showed new approaches that the Guide does not articulate. With a lot of hard work and Stuart's guidance I took my score from 680 to 740. To that end, I thoroughly recommend Stuart Park for anyone seeking tuition. read more

The key thing to remember when studying for the GMAT is that you are only going to get out of it what you put in, so expectations on score improvement and learning need to be kept in check with that qualifier in mind. Ethan made sure to remind all the students in the class with this fact during every class which was a great way to keep reality in check and make sure to put in the work required before and after each class. I really enjoyed my class with Ethan as he kept things from being dry at almost all times (and there are some DRY topics to refresh on). He has a great sense of humor, great at keeping people involved and most importantly, he's smart and a really good teacher. Ethan (and the Veritas digital classroom with Chris as his TA) is great at making sure the class is interactive and encouraging in participation. The material was laid out very well with it's skillbuilders and lessons and Ethan made sure that I learned the underlying reasoning behind answering the questions in order to efficiently answer new ones going forward. Would give nothing but the highest of recommendations going forward to use Ethan and Veritas as the go-to option for GMAT studying (and if you are a fan of The Princess Bride, you'll have nothing but love for this class). read more

I've attended a week-long immersion class (crash course) for GMAT, offered by Vertias. It was taught by Matt Douglas and it was way better than what I could've hoped for. Although it went by quite fast, it covered every important topic for the GMAT and I came out having good idea of my strengths / weaknesses and what is required. Matt was an amazing teacher and super patient when explaining various topics to us (and as a bonus, he was insanely funny). He also went out of his way to make sure he catered to all of us. He mixed up the class work going from easy to difficult, so that students of every level would find what they're looking for. So it served as an introductory course for many of us while some students used this class as a last week review of everything they learned. All of us agreed that this class was super helpful. I highly recommend this course if you want a crash course on the GMAT (especially if its being taught by Matt!). A word of advice: Its only a week long program so it will be extremely intense. If you want the most out of this course, you're going to have to put in a lot of hours outside of the class as well to really get the hang of every topic. BLUF: I would recommend this instruction to anyone looking to increase their GMAT score, but cannot attend live classroom instruction. The live online instruction was excellent in its quality of content. For someone like myself who was overseas and located in a place where classroom instruction was not possible, it was a great choice. However, the internet connection I had was not the greatest and therefore I experienced consistent lags in the streaming rate. This resulted in myself missing some of the finer teaching points that Ethan (my instructor) was attempting to communicate. This would occur for the duration of the 3 hour class, and it left me very frustrated at times. The recordings had the same issues. So, if your internet connection speed is average to below average, I would think twice about spending over $1500 on this option. The Veritas Prep Books are excellent themselves as standalone teaching guides. Instructor Review: Ethan was excellent. His personal tips, tricks, and methods that he adds to the standard Veritas instruction were instrumental in my 70 point increase.
