In addition to being really flexible with scheduling, (which was super convenient) he really helped me get exactly what I wanted out of the essays & portfolio. His fixes were spot on and really strengthened my work. They weren't just cosmetic either, we did a lot of restructuring to support the root themes of the stories and make them better. I truly cannot imagine a better experience or a more encouraging teacher. A lot of other writing teachers I've had in the past get an idea in their head of how to fix a piece and try to steamroll you into executing it, but Alex was exactly the opposite! My vision was heard and supported at every step. Alex really took the time to understand me and my pieces, and they were better for it. I credit the confidence with which I submitted my applications to Alex and look forward to working with him in the future once I finish my manuscript draft!

He had us laughing for 4 straight hours...all the while, we learned awesome tips and techniques about how to most efficiently use Excel. It's amazing how much time many of us waste doing things manually. I never realized how simple it is to use the methods/shortcuts that Mike teaches. What I like is that laptops are not needed, and while you're free to take notes, it's not necessary. Mike style of teaching is to keep drilling a concept over and over until it sticks. Quite frankly, it worked. So glad I took this class. Compared to what else is out there, I think $89 for this class is pretty reasonable. Nowww I just have to practice.

STEM was way cheaper when you consider that their problem sessions are all 2 hours long and it only cost me $20 per session. I think it's normally 40 but I got a discount thing they were running. The sessions were just as good as private tutoring and for the price it's totally unbeatable in NYC. Sometimes the instructors are different and so when you find a great one it's not always possible to make sure you get the same one every time so that's the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars. Otherwise, it's an incredible service and definitely gave me a big advantage over the other students in my class.

The only knock was that I wished he provided more of the study material was good, but my son was able to gain such a good understanding of the basics that we were able to find supplementary materials at the NY Public Library.
