I don't understand the reviews with 2 stars and below but to each their own. I came upon this gym…read moreafter researching gym around the Hudson area and checked it out. The owner Jason is a military vet and was super kind. He even gave me a military discount since I'm an Army Vet which was nice. The gym has everything you need from a small boxing area, trx/crossfit area and of course your traditional cardio machines and weight lifting equipment. It's really a great atmosphere to get an amazing working out in. I enjoy coming here because it doesn't get packed in the AM like other gyms and the best part is if you have any questions the staff is alway there to help you and point you in the right direct. If the owner Jason is there he will even come spot you which I've seen him do a numerous of times to different individuals working out. There's also lots of parking, so if your'e around the Hudson area of NH be sure to give AMC a visit if you're looking for a gym.

I've been going to AFC for nine months now and love it. My favorite thing about this gym is the…read moreatmosphere. Besides being clean and well-maintained, it really feels like a community gym. It's unpretentious. As someone who is curvy and wanted to go to the gym to improve my physique, I was initially very nervous about people staring at me or judging me for using the weights. I've gone to other, bigger gyms like PF and I always felt like everyone was looking down on me, and worse, I was fighting for equipment. Not at AFC. Everyone here is going to the gym to work on themselves, whatever that means for them. While of course you have many physically fit people here, there are also people of all ages, sizes, races, men, women, etc, each sharing a common purpose. I've never had a problem snagging equipment I needed or felt like I was in anyone's way. In fact, trainers and members alike have told me they've seen great improvement in me, which makes me feel so great. That's the benefit of a smaller gym - the people there remember you and root for you. I also love the boxing class. It's really popular here! I had never done boxing before and fell in love. It makes me feel powerful. Strong. And, best of all, disguises the workouts a bit! It's so much easier to work out when you're concentrating on pads and bags, and I end up burning 400-500 calories a session. Jason, and all the trainers, pay attention to your moves and help you improve your form. The classes are smaller too, usually around 10 people, so you can ask any questions you want and the trainers can pay attention to your form. If you're a nervous first-time gym goer like I was, or if you just moved here and are looking for a clean, community gym, this is the place.

Pros: Its…read moreimmaculately clean, the standard workout area free for residence of Tara heights and supposedly open 24hrs, has enough barbells and dumbbells up to 100lbs for all strength levels. Cons: It is 62 degrees in this gym, better bring a jacket. They have some rearly great additional rooms such as a CrossFit style room, cybex room, trx room, but they cost $59/ month to get access. If you are a Tara heights resident, they will not let you pay the difference from the included standard membership to upgrade and will charge you the full rate. The premium membership does not seem to include classes either, not sure of additional costs for those. The Regular gym room used to have enough free space to do pushups/core/small HIIT workout without being in the way of others however they have since filled that space with rowers and bikes to supplement cardio equipment for their CrossFit studio, a studio which the standard members are not allowed access too. This significantly cuts down on the available space as it's already a small gym. Its ok for a quick close to your apartment workout, but I don't think I would spend the money for a membership if it wasn't free. This gym could be a hidden gem, but it isn't there yet.

In earlier this year I spoke with Matt Dispensa SR. about returning to the club. He said I could pay a monthly fee of $29.99 since I was a former member & I wouldn't be taking any classes. In early June I went there and joined. I gave a young man (Matt jr?) there my info & a credit card to put on file. He gave me a keycard, he showed me that it worked and all was good. I went to the web site to get info for health insurance reimbursement purposes & discovered that my account wasn't up to date. I emailed Matt and found out that they were not taking out the monthly fee and they needed a credit card to settle the account. I offered to come down on a Friday to get this resolved but didn't hear back. A few days later I received another email repeating the need for a credit card to settle the account & that the amount due was $359.88. I had been at the club for 5 months so I was a little shocked at the amount and questioned the additional $209.93 ($359.88-$149.95). I was told that my company owed them money. I told them that I was an employee and not responsible for the money. We continued to exchange emails to try & resolve the issue (the additional money was not brought up again). I offered to come to the club to give the info desired & was told that I could give the credit card number over the phone. I gave my cell #. A few days later I received an email stating he had called me twice & the calls weren't answered. I apologized for not answering, explained my actions & offered a solution. I twice called 603-809-6756, got the voice message service, left messages & didn't receive a return call. Another email or two were exchanged then on 10/1/17 I went to the club & discovered that my keycard was deactivated. On 10/2/17 I called 603-821-0084 to settle the issue. I spoke with Matt (Sr, Jr?), provided credit card #, asked if my keycard was active & was told that it was. The following morning I went to the club & found, to my displeasure, that my keycard didn't work. I went home, sent an email stating I wanted the keycard activated or I would demand October's fee returned & find another club. On 10/3 I was told to find another gym & that my fee would be returned. My fee was returned on 10/6. So to summarize if you want a health club which is incompetent & disingenuous Gateway Hills is the place to go. I am also canceling the credit card given to them because I don't feel comfortable knowing they have that information. Also don't say anything negative about them or they will threaten legal action.

I was informed while in the pool that I was not allowed to be in the pool during swim class time. I said " I think my contract says I can be in the pool during open hours, other than water aerobics" " He literally yelled at me and said, "it's at the pool staffs discretion and you signed the contract, if you have a problem with it talk to the front desk and tell them Bobby said it's the rule" I reported this encounter to the owners son. He shrugged it off and said "ya, Bobby can be like that" After that I went back a few times. but felt uncomfortable, always looking to avoid him and this was not worth the stress. I am a leukemia patient. Stress is very bad for me. I initially signed up for exercise and swimming to relieve stress. I than decided it was best to not return. I never went back. 9 months of wasted gym membership. I felt uncomfortable and very unsafe. Afraid he would come at me with comments about reporting him to the owner's son. Bobby is a loud, disruptive self-centered inconsiderate and very rude person. I was sad to not return. however, his professionalism and communication were unacceptable. Everyone else was very professional and kind. No other issues. Clean & maintained nicely. Valerie
