With everything being quite last minute, we didn't plan on having a photographer at all but while doom scrolling on instagram on night I came across one of Calvin's ad's. I went to check his profile and really fell in love with his previous work (and our mutual love for Japan). It fit both my husband and I's style perfectly (not overly saturated or exposed like many of the basic photographers in Hawai'i). I decided to reach out just to see what the process might be like to hire him. During our first call Calvin provided us with a ton of information on locations and best lighting and it really showed how passionate he was about photography. I think pretty quickly into the call we knew that he was someone we'd definitely get along with. He was also just great with responding to our messages in a timely manner throughout the whole process. Going into the experience, my husband and I were both were pretty relaxed. I think we just knew that Calvin would do a great job because we felt so comfortable around him. He honestly blended in so well with everyone that we hardly noticed him at all throughout the day. With all the chaos of the wedding day it's hard to know how the photos will ultimately turn out but as soon as we saw the edited photos we couldn't stop looking at them! They captured the day so well and were more beautiful than we could've ever imagined. Each picture seems to show a different side of my daughter's budding personality. Not only that, but she took such beautiful portraits of the three of us enjoying that early baby time together... AND got a killer family shot that included our two dogs. Above and beyond! At 3 weeks postpartum, I was a little nervous to be included in the pictures, but I shouldn't have been. Satya knows what she is doing and made me feel totally comfortable. When the pictures arrived, I loved how I looked in them. We also went back to Satya for her Santa photos. This really helped me with finalizing our photography vendor decision. The package we chose included an ice breaker shoot which ended up being like an engagement shoot. This was super helpful in getting to know her shooting style and temperament. Marissa is very outgoing and fun to be around. She made my husband feel super comfortable, which he was worried about, not having spent a lot of time in front of the camera and of course she made me feel comfortable too. I had looked at several photography websites, and the photographs on her website caught my attention due to the lighting, color, and creativity. When my fiancé and I met with her, she showed us additional photographs which further demonstrated those initial impressions and an eye for beautiful angles an moments. I also really liked her personality. She was professional and so kind. Her packages were also affordable. Shortly after we signed the contract, Lily found out that she was pregnant and due about a month after our wedding. Therefore, photographing for 8 hours would be unlikely for her on our special day. She gave us information about her back up photographers (who have photographed with her professionally) and because she found out soon after we signed the contract, she offered to let us cancel the contract which my fiancé and I appreciated. We didn't take her up on this, however. After Lily promptly answered numerous emails with questions about her back ups, we decided to stay with Lily. We are so glad we did. Lily photographed our engagement session at Golden Gardens in Ballard, and we received hundreds of beautiful photographs from our time with her. The colors were gorgeous and she captured our personalities and relationship dynamic so well. While Lily did not photograph our wedding, she was with me on that day. She took my "getting ready" photos at the salon and at my hotel. I got married on the day of the Solstice Parade, and I got stuck in the parade traffic after the salon. Lily beat me back to the hotel and waited for thirty plus minutes for me. While stuck in traffic, I realized that the Solstice parade was ending at our desired place for pre wedding photographs, Gasworks Park. Therefore, we had to change our location at the last minute, and I was running late. Needless to say, I was frantic. I called Lily, and she was calm and helpful, and said it would be no problem to contact the other photographers. Lily was waiting for me at the hotel when I arrived, frantic and feeling rushed to get ready. She was so calm and organized that it calmed me down. She helped us figure out another location for photographs, on the UW campus. After the initial photographs, she came to the venue for the family photographs to make sure all was going well. I appreciated how invested she was considering she was not even supposed to be there on that day. I recently received all the photographs, and my fiancé and I are so happy. They are absolutely gorgeous, and there are plenty to choose from. The UW proved to be a wonderful location for the pre wedding photographs. The beautiful brick buildings and trees added so much to the photos. All of the photos show creativity in poses and angles. The photographers captured many perfect candid moments as well. This came as no surprise considering what we had already seen from Lily K Photography.

Even though it was a deal, he treated us like a first class client (unlike some other photograhy deals where you get discounted service because you paid a discount price). It was the best photography session we've had so far (and we've had quite a few). The photos turned out great too, and are our favorites so far. We were allowed to request edits (like B&W, contrast, etc) and we get to keep all the digital copies as well. All in all, I can't recommend him enough!

We have worked with Jordan again since then --in downtown SF and @Crab Cove-- and been just as happy. I should mention that my husband, who is more difficult to please than I am, and NOT enthusiastic about paying someone to take pictures when we own a perfectly good camera, also enjoys working with Jordan and is impressed by his professionalism, creativity and results.

Not to the mall photographer.... to the Petsmart photo day? I don't think so .... So Sara and Ryan are also great if you want professional shots of your pets.... since they are nice and trustworthy, the animal get comfortable around them really fast so the photos come out great! My now wife and I are originally from back east, and never really felt at home in the O.C. The vibe out there is, well...not for us. When we started searching for our photographer, we came across many high-end companies dropping names and peddling their celebrity wedding shots. This was the exact opposite of what we wanted for our small, intimate event. We finally stumbled across www.saraplusryan.com (our photos are posted on their blog) and knew instantly they would get it. And us. We video chatted one time, had dinner another, and it was settled. On the big day, they arrived early and made us feel at ease while we got ready. We had a "first look" session before the ceremony that, to my surprise, wasn't awkward AT ALL. I was worried we'd look stiff and posed, but these two make you feel so comfortable you forget all that and just enjoy the moment with your partner. They flew through the obligatory (read: boring) family portraits in no time, which we personally appreciated. Though I'm sure they'd tailor time spent on certain shots to whatever the couple wanted. During the ceremony, they captured so many emotions in such unique ways. And at the reception, you literally don't realize they're even there. This made for incredibly candid, genuine shots of many intimate moments with our families and friends. After the toast, it was time for them to go. I almost asked them to stay for dinner, at least the 1st course! We received our photos in no time (2 weeks, maybe) via an email system that was very convenient to download, order prints and share with others. Going through them the first time, we were floored. Their style is one of photojournalism- capturing moments as they arise with unique perspectives and small, creative touches that make it seem like you're there when it's happening. It told the story of our day without words. They are truly talented. We couldn't be happier with Sara and Ryan's services, and will cherish the memories they gave us forever. He requested a video of me saying my experience was good, fine I did it. Then a few days later I got the link to schedule a viewing and did. HE reschedules for another week out to select the photo's I want to buy and doesn't say a word to me, FINE. It is now 4/25/26 10:13 AM - the day he wanted to have us review them- crickets. Called his number and no answer, texted him and no answer. I will never book with this place again or recommend them to anyone. If i ever do end up getting the spring photos he took the entire season would have already passed.
