My boyfriend and I had a couples photoshoot in Volunteer Park with Young about 2 weeks ago. His team were very responsive to our emails and questions about photoshoots since this was our first one together. Young, himself was also very professional and friendly throughout the entire shoot. Our session started at 4pm, and we arrived about 3:40. As soon as 4pm arrived he was quick to bring out the camera and start the shoot which I was very happy about. He had great locations throughout the park, plus the sun shining through the clouds from the recent rain fall so it definitely helped with the lighting. We utilized the full hour towards photos and we were very content with the shoot overall. We received our photos late last night and I am very happy with some of them however most of them I think could have been better with direction. I'm usually very self conscious when it comes to photos so I was delighted to see that I looked great in the them. There were many photos that could have been better if my boyfriend had better direction or we both could have switched positions in general. Whether he wasn't looking, wasn't smiling, caught off guard, or I was turned too far away, etc. In the end not all of them were up to my expectations, but let me tell you, the ones that we both love ARE AMAZING. We love our pictures, It was our first professional photography session and really didn't know what to expect, Young made us feel like if a friend of ours was taking the pictures, he made us laugh and made us feel so comfortable at all times. If I could make this a zero I would. RUN! I had a Groupon that I used and was excited about getting some engagement photos done. IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. Everything is a add on and I believe is a strong oversight in customer service. It took some time together our appointment scheduled and then we were off to our Europe wedding. We didn't get the pictures by the time our wedding - which is fine there was an extra fee for that - but they did come a day or two before. We were in a foreign country and having our wedding and missed the 2 week window to have the pictures "reviewed". When asked if we could simply review the pictures they wanted hundreds of dollars just to repost. we had all intentions of buying a larger package but just wanted to see the photos. they wouldn't budge and were slow to respond. I have never seen my engagement photos - something that we put a lot of time and energy into - they are heartless and it is all about getting more money from you. I have multiple friends in Seattle that were waiting for a good recommendation and I was prepared to give them the best - there are too many great deals and photographers out there to waste your time, money, or energy on this one. I think it is a relatively new business, so I feel bad leaving a negative review, but I hope Young will use it to improve the business. I bought a groupon, so I think I got what I paid for. Customer service is VERY slow - it takes them a week or two to respond to your email (particularly if there is an issue). Seriously, I responded to their email within a minute after receiving the email and the response would follow a week or two later. Scheduling is not easy due to the EXTREMELY slow communication. I did not get the date (and I mean the week) that I wanted because I was worried I would get nothing after not hearing from them for a long time. The availability is not superb, but the communication makes it so much worse. The pictures were okay - I am somewhat camera shy, I do not know cool poses etc. And that is exactly what I looked like on those pics - camera shy, extremely typical/standard poses (which were so not me). Some things could have been photo shopped or corrected by the photographer (like underwear showing!!!) Really? I can't see myself! Poses and gestures should have been corrected or improved to point out the theme of the photo shoot (if I had a mirror I would have done it myself, but I could not see myself, so when I got the pics much much later, I was like why didn't he tell me?!?!). Also, I had pics taken with a different photographer - she asked me about my "favourite side" of the face and focused on taking pics from that angle. Young did not bother (or know) that faces are asymmetrical, so most of my pics came out on my less favourite side. On one picture half of my foot was cut off! Even I do not do that. If you want any improvement to the standard (poor) resolution it will cost you $$$. Finally, I had an issue with the final product, which was clearly a mistake on their part. It took me over a month to get the issue resolved. I received responses a week or two later after every request for correction saying that it was somehow in the contract, or it was fine the way it was etc. I did not like the experience. Last weekend I visited Seattle for the first time ever. There were 8 of us girls n we had a special birthday & girlfriends shoot scheduled with Young. We were nervous bc it was snowing when we arrived and our shoot was scheduled to be outdoors in a couple hours. When it was time for the shoot, the sun was out to greet us and so did Young. Young is a nice person to work with, on time, prompt replies. However, the quality of the photographs forces me to give this review. I took a groupon coupon initially. Upon seeing the proof album, I had some issue with the photos which I emailed back. They said that was natural. I thought may be the original (100% by 300ppi) photos will be better. They had offered a 200$ price for the entire album for two days. I took that up and paid 200$+ taxes along with the groupon that I had already bought for the pictures, costing me a 250$ net price. However, when the copies arrived, they were the same, with same and more issues. Listing the issues which I observed in Young's photography : 1. Framing - I asked if this was the original or cropped, I would like to see the original. But they said this is how they were clicked. Issues were - unnecessary cropping of head when the pose doesn't really demand that, tilting of frame when not necessary and it makes the frame look worse than better. 2. Editing - over exposure, excessive contrast combined with excessive saturation resulting in weird colored light appearing in the edges, cloning of pictures without proper blending of the image. 3. Resolution - checking the EXIF of the images, they use Sony camera. I do not have much knowledge about the technicality of the camera in particular. The resolution is 2667 x 4000, which is good enough (although I usually use a higher one). However, may be due to overexposure and excessive editing, the pictures are very grainy when enlarged, in its colored version, making them inappropriate for printing. Some of the pictures were really good, so I decided to take the album since it comes at 100% by 300ppi. But I was dissapointed. I emailed them again asking for the corrected version. Awful customer service and serious lack of professionalism. I booked this photographer for a maternity photo shoot in early May, and scheduled my shoot for early July. She later rescheduled me for the end of July, at 31 weeks pregnant. The night before my shoot, she canceled due to a family emergency. The part that frustrated me was that she offered no solutions to this problem. She said she was booked out for 2-3 weeks (mid-August), but could offer a refund. I explained that I was well into my third trimester so I needed to reschedule ASAP, and that a refund wouldn't help me since I'd never be able to find another photographer on such short notice. Her response? She informed me via email that she was sending a refund and had no openings until late September...apparently she booked 6 solid weeks in less than 24 hours! It wasn't even a discussion. Now I'll likely not have any maternity photos from my first pregnancy. I bought this photo package on sale, and it's my honest opinion that the photographer simply decided she didn't want to honor her agreement because of the discount. Young's customer service and professionalism is very poor. I initially bought a coupon for a couples session, first, it was a hassle to get an availability during the weekend as all weekends were booked for the next 3 months, then when advising that Id rather book in March because I was pregnant, they told me that I could not use the coupon because rates for a Maternity Session are different. I clarified that I wanted a couples session with my husband and the fact that I am pregnant should not be an excuse for denying a couples session service or to try to charge higher rates. My family and I (family of 4; 2 adults/2 children) purchased the $25 Groupon. I was a little skeptical, at first, because photo sessions of this caliber usually cost SO much more. However, if the pictures didn't turn out great, I thought, hey, I'm only out $25, so we went for it. I agree with a few reviewers that is was difficult to schedule a session. He mentioned being extremely booked, but that made sense since i'm sure many were taking advantage of the Groupon deal. We lucked out because we ended up taking the spot of someone who canceled, so we were able to get our session scheduled a lot sooner than expected at Gas Works Park. An added bonus, the weather forecast for that day was supposed to be rainy with thunderstorms/lightening, but we received gorgeous sunshine. I have to disagree with a couple comments regarding Young's customer service. Prior to our photo session he was sure to keep in contact with us--confirming dates, time, location, participants involved, and even sent a link to his website where he lists notes to help improve your photo session and to help it run smoothly. He was also great at following up after the photo session, ensuring that we were satisfied with the finished product. I appreciated how detailed his information was, and I also appreciated his quick responses to my inquires. He made himself accessible which was great. Young was really friendly and patient with myself, my spouse and our children. He even cracked a few jokes to warm us up a bit (I would stick to photography if I were him though, haha). Our session lasted about 35 minutes, and since we finished prior to the 60-minute mark he offered to let us choose some poses, backdrops, and so on. We ended up getting a great picture with downtown Seattle in the background. Additionally, I agree that the turnaround for viewing all of our photos and receiving the final product was quick. He estimated it taking 1-2 business days before we would get the final 5 digital copies, but I ended up receiving them a couple hours later. Overall, we were pretty pleased with the end result. We've received SO many positive comments on our photos and people can't believe we only spent $25. Talk about a steal. I'm really looking forward to getting our photos printed and hung in our home. read more

Young did my engagement pictures and my wedding and I couldn't have asked for someone better!! *Engagement pics* I got in contact with him from a craigslist special he was running. He was very attentive and professional even before our session. He did homework trying to find the type of location we wanted, and was extremely helpful with outfits and props and what not. The day of, he went and scouted out the location earlier in the day and had everything planned out. He made us feel very comfortable and relaxed and basically became our friend. We joked around and all our pictures were very natural and candid, just like how we requested. I even told him some photoshop pet peeves I had and he was very accommodating about it! We were very happy with our engagement pictures and there were a TON! Turnaround time was quick too! But I had remarked that some of the angles weren't very flattering for a bigger girl like me, and he automatically offered to do a sort of 'supplemental' shoot (which was unexpected and unnecessary, RARE but very much appreciated!!). He spent just as long with us that second time and even brought an assistant along to help! *Wedding* After we decided to hire him for our wedding, he was very professional with all the paperwork, payments and explaining the contract terms to us clearly. He was VERY personable and EASY to contact. Very quick responses for questions and other stuff. The day of our wedding he arrived early (our location was probably almost 2 hours drive for him, so he must've gotten up EARLY) and introduced himself to everyone, scouted the place out and was very professional and helpful with everything. He isn't one of those photographers that make you pose and even get in your way, he captures the moment. He made my bridesmaids feel really comfortable and got some great getting ready shots. He was very cooperative with our cultural ceremony and didn't complain when my family got in the way of him taking pictures. Everyone had their own cameras and phones and tablets and he was VERY respectful and understanding even with a language barrier and all. Never got annoyed even when Grandpa walked into his shot or something :) At our ceremony/reception location, he took his time to find the right spot for portraits, and utilized the time when we were all running around with last minute stuff to take pictures of the decor, surroundings and all. I really liked that, he didn't just sit around waiting for us and wasting time. He was very cooperative with all the special shots and portraits we wanted and did an amazing job throughout the night. He made sure to get the right shots, but not get in the way. That was very important to me. I wanted to actually capture the day, not just a bunch of posed pictures I could honestly get anytime. He stayed till 10ish in the evening, which made his time with us over 12+ hours!!! He gave us sneak peak pictures within a couple days of our wedding, which is impressive considering it was in the middle of wedding season and he was so busy. Our entire photo package was ready much quicker than others! I know people who were married the same day as us and still haven't seen their pictures! Again, there were a TON of pictures. He isn't the type to only provide you with a handful. Everything was edited beautifully but not OVERLY edited. Everything was still natural and his editing only enhanced the photo itself. Overall, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Young Image Photography for all your photography needs. I certainly plan to come back for every life event I have that needs photographed. Young is professional, friendly, TALENTED, and affordable. You honestly cannot find a find a better value anywhere. Either you pay thousands upon thousands for a big name photographer that will barely remember you, or you get what you pay for with an inexperienced photographer. Young is neither! He's experienced in many kinds of photography AND he is great at working with you, whether it be hiding the double-chin with different angles or on your budget or whatever. I WISH I COULD HAVE GIVEN THEM 0 STARS!!! My wife and I had planned a date months in advance and were very excited to get our maternal photoshoot done but we kept getting rescheduled over and over again because of weather. They (Syri) kept emailing me saying we might have to reschedule because of the weather. They don't deal with clients through the phone so it was a rough process of communicating through the email. When I finally got tired of them rescheduling on me I asked for a refund and they responded by saying "we have a no refund policy". That's as good as stealing if you can't provide the service and keep rescheduling. Just be prepared they have weekend charges of an additional $200 or locational change charge of $200. I mean if you can't shoot because of the rain ( in Seattle in November), as a client I would expect them to be more flexible. Then they have the nerve to email me saying " we will we fund you $70 and the remaining $100 is for the service provided in the scheduling rescheduling and emails. They were the ones that kept rescheduling over and over and they wanted a service fee lol. I finally got fed up with their BS and called Paypal to get my refund. I got my full refund but it was a headache which I hope you guys out there can prevent. Good luck if you guys choose them as your photographers. There will be a lot of rescheduling. read more

I bought a Groupon from them for $65 for 8 images. However, this was a total bait and switch because the images that was to come had their logos and doesn't give their permission to do anything with the images. To get larger images, you had to buy at least $100 worth to get the 8 images to regular resolution without their logos. This was a definite misconception that wasn't listed on the Groupon. Also, the deal was only for pictures from Monday - Friday, no weekends since that would cost an additional $200. This is a shady business so buyers beware. read more

I couldn't turn down a deal...so we tried again. Let me first applaud our photographer, Young. He was patient with my toddler, who had not had a nap, he had great ideas for photos and offered to continue even when it was obvious my daughter was done for the day. He was prompt, friendly and not pushy. The business itself has a little bit of a bait and switch thing goin on. Scheduling is a pain, everything costs up $100 more for little things. I paid $25 for 5 digital STANDARD photos as well as the session. Let me tell you STANDARD photos gets you: low-ish resolution, not great editing and you can only use the photos for personal use. But don't worry, because you get to choose to upgrade you package (mind you, 5 photos) for $100. With this you get high resolution photos. If you decide not to take this deal, you can upgrade your package for $25/photo. So basically I could upgrade all 5 for $25 more if I really wanted to. I like a good savings and may have done this IF I had been able to see any of my photos prior. You have to buy the deal before you even see if any turned out! So I declined and ended up sticking with my standard photos and upgraded two of those for $50 total. I'm glad I did this because while some of the photos were good, they were all similar to each other. And part of this was because I had a toddler who just wanted to run. They offer you other promos as well all for a steep increase. Plus when I tried to change the photos from family photos to just my daughter, they told me I had to pay $100 more by 12pm of that day or they would cancel my apt, also that day. I ended up doing a few photos with my daughter which I do like but still kinda weird. Overall, read the fine print. Hopefully you will get a good photographer but maybe better edits. They are a bit too saturated for my taste. Also for every photo they show you a B&W of the same photo, so while you think you have 30 photos to choose from, you really only have 15. This place is ridiculous. I bought a groupon that seemed like a great deal and was excited to us it. When I tried to set up an appointment they told me that 1. It would be a $200 fee to do a shoot on the weekend and 2. They couldn't book more than 30 days ahead. So I waited. I waited until it was about a month before I wanted to do the session and all of a sudden they were completely booked for that month. How is this even possible if you can't book more than a month ahead? So I booked for last Monday. I had to take time off of work to do this session. I got an email a couple days before the shoot to confirm, 4:30 on Monday. So we show up. I had my daughter who is two and we waited, and waited and waited. No one showed. I emailed them letting them know that we were leaving bc no one showed up. When they finally called they told me they had given me the wrong time and apologized a lot. That was it. No offer to reschedule. No offer for a refund. The next day I emailed them and groupon and told them I expected a refund which they replied saying of course. Well groupon will only work give me groupon bucks for these kind of circumstances...what the hell?!?! I had looked forward to this for so long and if I had known they were so scammy and ridiculous I would have scheduled something else with another company. What a waste of time and money! read more

Young is absolutely amazing!!! During our first session my now husband scheduled a couple's session, which was odd for him. It ended up turning into an engagement shoot, which Young helped him to orchestrate. He was amazing and our engagement photos turned out gorgeous!!! So of course when we eloped to the courthouse in Seattle Young was first on the list! I received our wedding photos yesterday and could not be any more elated! This is the worst customer service I have ever seen. I got the groupon and have been trying to schedule since October 2016. Syri, the person who answers their emails (no phone number listed), keeps giving me the run around and 6 months later, we still have no appointment. I tried being patient with all of their caveats and 'we don't schedule any appointments more than 2 months out' random rules, but at this point, I have to say it is singularly the worst service and accountability I have ever seen. Even if I respond within in minutes, she responds 24 hours later with that time is gone, try again message. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. I can't speak for quality, but if they are this shady before hand, I wouldn't entrust my precious family pictures with them anyway. .. I wish I could read the reviews and their policy before ordering their groupon deal. It's simply a scam company. We've been waiting for three month to get a photo. We were able to schedule the first time in June but on the day of the session, they told us it was canceled because of the weather, even though it didn't rain, a nice cloudy day. We were then rescheduled in August, after a long long time finally, they canceled our session again due to weather... The funny thing is the forecast says it would be sunny way before our session starts... We had been so excited for this photos since it would have been our first family photos, me, my husband, my two year old girl and the unborn baby. We got all the things ready in the morning just to be informed it was canceled, they didn't even listen to my explanation that the weather would be nice during the session, they just answered in a cold voice, no, it has to be canceled. No more... THEN the funniest thing is, they wanted to charge us $50 extra for rescheduling the third times even though neither times was our fault! Never heard of this... Even if we paid $50, we can't guarantee that we would get the service because they have the right to cancel. And after the deal expires, they can claim the money for doing nothing.... We asked if we can get a refund but they said no. They policy is just ridiculous and i'm not even sure if it's legal. My sister/maid of honor found Young for us after many failed attempts to find and meet a photographer that didn't charge an arm and a leg. I was hasty at first because of all the research I had done about the 'typical' cost of wedding photography and how ridiculous it is that some other photographers expected us to pay over $3,000 (hint it starts with Jay...) When we did meet with Young, however, he exceeded our expectations and we ended up choosing his Silver Package. We had never done a professional photo shoot before, so when we met for the pre-session, we were thankful that he took the time to explain the process and take charge, as well as let us make suggestions. We never felt rushed and he even accommodated to take pictures of our son and parents who attended the shoot with us. He stayed professional and by our side to catch all the special moments that most people would never catch. By the end of it we were all exhausted, but he was all smiles. There's not a lot of photographers these days that are understanding of each client's individual needs and even more willing to accommodate even the slightest bit. Horrible experience! I bought a groupon to do a family photo shoot with my brother's family who was visiting. It seemed completely unprofessional. We could tell it was not well thought of at all during the session and that was confirmed when we saw the pictures. The pictures were not well lighted and the background was not well thought of at all. He didn't even take the time to see if the kids were looking at the camera or if he got any good shots but kept moving on and seemed to be in a hurry to be done. You will have better results if you take your camera and ask a stranger to take a picture! read more

This organization truly has some of the worst customer service I've experienced. They are very difficult to schedule with requiring several emails to book (even though I picked one date after the first email). After several scheduling emails confirming details, they began asking antiquated questions such as confirming repeatedly we were a couple. (I'm engaged to a man...why does that matter in the slightest? same-sex, husband-wife...it's still just two people getting their photos taken at the end of the day...?) Their contract language has weird clauses in it too. Then asking weird questions like if we were pregnant. Then after I said it shouldn't matter, but no we were not pregnant. Just had engagement photos done with Young and the pictures were excellent! We got a groupon deal for a 1 hr on site photo shoot which came with different location options and we ended up choosing pike place. There were several poses/backgrounds and Young made us feel really comfortable even though I was a little nervous. His communication was great throughout the process, and was really quick to respond to any questions I emailed. I would definitely recommend! read more

Worst photography and Groupon experience ever! Difficulty from the beginning with scheduling, had to send multiple emails back and forth as their administration seemed unwilling to accept any emails not phrased a very specific way. The policy they sent indicated we could reschedule once, due to weather, which they refused to honor. We received multiple, pushy emails to upgrade our package immediately or miss out... before we had even seen the proofs! Then we find out that the fine print indicated we don't receive print rights... and they won't sell us print rights to our pictures if we don't also upgrade our package! They appear to have zero concern about whether the customer is happy. What a scam! So disappointed! Buyers beware!           Slow read more

My extended family recently did a photo shoot with Young and we were very impressed! We had a groupon for a 1-hour photo session that gave us 8 digital images and options to purchase more if we'd like. *Professional, Organized, Great Communicator* While Young is "newer" to the business, he is incredibly professional and organized. It was easy to communicate with him. He gave us confirmation for our photo shoot one week ahead of time and gave us a hand out with tips on how to best prepare for the photo shoot. He also asked me ahead of time for who would be in the photo shoot, relation to each other, and key shots that we would want. *Fun Experience* Young made us feel comfortable while being photographed. He has a very fun and easy-going personality. He was great with our 2 year old son, too! He would help direct us if we needed guidance on how to pose better. Everyone in the photo shoot enjoyed themselves and said great things about Young. Even though we were getting a steal through this groupon, he really worked hard to get great shots. *Beautiful Pictures* The pictures we got back were great! While we did sign up for the 8 digital images, we might go for more. I think I remember Young telling us that he's been doing this for 2 years or so. Bottom line: He is great for personal portraits or family portraits. Can not say enough good things about Young! Family pictures with a toddler and an infant are usually difficult, but Young did an amazing job making us all feel comfortable and got some amazing shots (in between the tantrums). The pictures look great and he managed to capture our little family's big personality (including the tantrums) in a beautifully artistic way. Lots of movement and consistent effort on Young's part that we got great shots. The photos were ready much quicker than I expected and they all looked AMAZING! The editing was beautiful. My fiancé and I just had our engagement photos done by Young. He was awesome! Young was very professional, laid back and super fun to work with.
