I can't think of a worse place to take an animal. Low life Scum, they don't have specialist on call 24 hours, stuff they can't handle they send out to a real animal hospital. AMC - animal medical center on 61st and 1st and double bill you, don't get me wrong there's a few good doctors there but it's a corporate owned and run practice so drs hands are tied, also they'll turn animal away to die if you can't pay. Use a real vet or amc in the city, you've been warned- also blue pearl is exactly the same garbage. Horrible but not surprising. Look at all the other reviews, there's a pattern. All they care about is money. Use amc in the city especially if it's cancer care. You've been warned!

Were the vets I spoke to kind? Yes. Was the staff also kind and accommodating when my family and I came to check in on our pet? Yes. Is the way that this place goes about discussing financial costs and paying your bill shady and blurry as far as ethics? Abso-f...ing-lutely!! The one rating because no amount of kindness or talking to me in an annoying baby voice could erase the trauma, and financial manipulation my family experienced. I am not going to tell to go here, but I will recommend that before you go, please level set, maybe talk to a loved one or even a trusted neighbor/coworker to come up with a number that is feasible for you, no judgement of it feels too high or too low, but absolutely be ready to walk away if the number that VERG quotes you is even a dollar above that, because it will eventually be more. Our cat went in upon recommendation from our vet after being sick for almost 6 week, we discovered she swallowed something that punctured her intestines. It required surgery, the doctor was very optimistic about her chances at recovery, she was only two after all. In hindsight, she was very depleted already and likely not a good surgery candidate. Below, you'll find pics of letter I wrote to VERG on 12/21 in my apple notes, expressing my utter frustrations snd despair with the whole situation. I ultimately did not send because shortly after I got a call from Dr. H saying (after spending over 15k), they were going to be gracious enough to not charge me anymore . Though, that also meant that our cat would no longer receive any treatment. She was euthanized 2 days later. Sorry if it's not chronological, Yelp uploaded it weirdly.

My baby didn't stand a chance when I toke him here all they did was push euthanasia he was alive looking at me alive wanting to live

Thank you, VERG staff, for caring for our fur baby as best you could and ensuring she was comfortable during her remaining time with us. We took our cat Honey here after she suddenly stopped eating and became ill. Upon our arrival, we were greeted and asked what was wrong. Once I told them what was happening, they immediately took her in for evaluation as I started on the paperwork. Once an assessment was done, the doctor came to speak with us to inform us what was going on and what was needed and to provide an invoice. We were at VERG for a few hours with our fur baby, waiting and hoping she would be okay, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case, and she passed away. Ultimately, the staff here were all very kind and empathetic. We were given as much time with our fur baby as we needed without being rushed or feeling as though we were, and for that, I'm grateful. I know that she passed knowing and feeling how loved she was by all of us (her family).

I had a deeply distressing experience at VERG Brooklyn with Dr. Elsa Nader, DVM during an emergency visit on November 7, 2025, for my dog, January. After arriving around 5:30 PM, I spent more than seven hours waiting while receiving unclear and inconsistent communication about my pet's condition and care plan. Treatments and billing were initiated before I provided formal approval, and when I tried to set a clear financial limit of $3,504.18 for the first 24 hours of care, I was told that care could not continue unless I agreed in advance to 48 hours of treatment. This situation left me feeling pressured, misled, and powerless to make informed decisions for my own pet. I consider this experience unethical and emotionally traumatic, especially given the circumstances of an emergency visit. Pet owners deserve transparent communication, clear consent, and respect for financial boundaries in emergency situations. I hope VERG Brooklyn and Dr. Nader take steps to address this issue so that no other pet owner has to go through the same experience.

VERG IS THE BEST VETINARY HOSPITAL!!!!!! I had took my dog to her primary vet today because she just wasn't herself. We found out that she had an extremely high fever and they urged me to take her to the Hospital. They suggested I take her to VEG ER in Williamsburg. My cousin had an AWFUL experience there so I decided to take her to VERG and I'm so glad I did! When I got there I told them I had just brought my dog from the vet with a 105.1 fever and they quickly attended me and the front desk ladies were so kind. They took her vitals. Told me what they would recommend in terms of bloodwork, urine test, etc. they walked me through everything and were very transparent with the cost. They did everything they needed to and the wonderful doctor Laura sat with me and explained everything they found and answered all the questions I had with so much patience and kindness. Everyone there was so kind. For people who are curious about costs. The initial examination was about $230 and everything else they did was added on. It can be pricey but it also is a hospital and they do an amazing job so it was all worth it. also would like to mention that they don't do payment plans but they do have options for an emergency pet care credit card and loan which is very helpful. Even though my pup was okay, I am soooo THANKFUL to all the workers there. THANK TOU VERG. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!! PSA. NEVER GO TO VEG ER IN WILLIAMSBURG, all they want is money!!!

My baby feeling unwell on second visit.

VERG is the best facility for emergency vet help in Brooklyn. The staff is attentive, caring, and understanding; the doctors are personable and ensure that the patient's human understand what's going on with the pet. I brought my dog here three times in two weeks, she had to be admitted twice, once for emergency surgery to save her life, and she got the BEST care. I could not be more grateful for this facility and will continue to return here for all my emergency needs.

Ask the Community - VERG Brooklyn

Hello, i have a cat that was referred to your place for a endoscopy. Is it possible to find out the range of the money we are talking about? It is important for me in order to make a decision…

I spend around 4-7K with my dog being hospitalized in intensive care and on an oxygen box for 3-4 days, but it was not a surgery. They do have two credit cards you can apply for to help with the vet bills, i was not eligible for either but I think…

How much does a round of treatment for lymphoma on a dog (100lbs if it matters) cost? We will be making an appointment soon and we would like to be more financially ready beforehand.

Our cat has lymphoma. Bloodwork cost $340. Chemotherapy medicine $426. Chemo administration $146. Waste removal, $41. Subcutaneous fluids and medicines, $185. Medicines to take home, $160. The tumor shrank dramatically in days.

How much would an abdominal ultrasound ? do we need to pay separately for a consultation if we actually referred specifically for ultrasound?

There is a minimal $88 consultation fee + whatever services. You can maybe ask for a quote they are very nice there and reasonable.

Are there any dentist specialists and if so what would cost be for dental repair of an accidental chipped tooth?

Hmmm, interesting enough, my Catty had to have a tooth pulled. I'm not sure what the cost would be, but you can be referred to their dental specialist.

Can exam fees be waived such as walk in/emergency?

    No. I don't think so

How much would it be for a emergency visit?

Hi Leslie, The emergency visit is $110. All other services would be additional but we would…

What is the quote/cost of EKG/EGC at Verg for cat meant to evaluate slight heart murmur before vet initiates prescribing allergy medication/steroids for hair pulling?

Hi Irene, Thanks for inquiring! You would need to schedule a consultation with the cardiologist, that is $180 and the Echocardiogram is $480. Please give us a call if you…

He had recently stopped taking his heart medication after his cardiologist determined that his heart condition had resolved. Once again, the staff quickly took him back and stabilized him. Then began the wait. BluePearl appears to triage patients based on urgency, and they were not noticeably but apparently busy that day. As a result, Ruben spent much of the day in an oxygenated cage, from about 9:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Thankfully, I did not have to stay there the entire time. In the end, the diagnosis was somewhat different from what we initially expected. Ruben does not have early congestive heart failure, as was suggested by the remote radiologist's preliminary interpretation. However, the team did take seriously the possibility of asthma, which had been raised by my cardiologist over the phone. I'm reducing my rating by half a star, bringing it to 4.5 stars. Overall, I believe Ruben received excellent care. The veterinarian listened carefully to my concerns about sedation and treated him thoughtfully. My main concern is staffing. It appeared that there was only one very busy veterinarian on duty, and she was unable to interpret the X-rays herself. As a result, several hours passed before the imaging could be completed, and then additional time was needed to obtain a reading from an off-site radiologist. I understand that Ruben was stable and that other patients may have required more urgent attention. Still, from my perspective, increased staffing might have allowed him to be evaluated sooner. Ruben is a good patient, but he does not enjoy veterinary visits, and spending nearly the entire day there was stressful for both of us. That said, BluePearl remains my first choice for emergency veterinary care. The staff are compassionate, and I continue to trust them when Ruben needs urgent treatment.

The October 7th anniversary continues to bring me sorrow…read more Ruby's Heartbreaking Journey proved Blue Pearl to be irresponsible, misleading, heartless and greedy. I am writing this so no one's four-legged furry child has to go through what my little Angel unnecessarily went through in her last days in ICU. Instead of in the comfort of her home in my loving arms. Blue Pearl robbed me of 1 night being with her and spending quality time in her final day. If you plan to go to Blue Pearl Brooklyn location, pay careful attention to the words they use. They talk like Politicians and Attorneys. Using a lot of words and committing to nothing. Listen very carefully at this very stressful and emotional time before buying into paying for the False Hope they are selling you. Be aware of words like, it could be, it's possible, most likely or another underlying cause. All are designed to generate another Bill. The only fact they will commit to is the Bill amount you have to pay. After a week of treatment for pancreatis, and almost another $20,000 added to my Bill. I took Ruby to her Vet, who quickly concluded she most likely had a stroke. Blue Pearl attempted to send Ruby home for a third time even though she was still unresponsive. Not eating, drinking, walking or responding. Her head tilted to the side, one eye half shut, unable to do anything but roll around on her belly. She couldn't even bark or cry for help if in pain and suffering. She had no ability to communicate. Her jaw was locked. I couldn't get anything in her mouth, not even an eye dropper of water let alone all of the pills they sent me home with. YES, they had me take her home twice in this condition, only to return to put her in ICU. We paid dearly both Emotionally and Financially. Ultimately Ruby paid with a long sad end to a wonderful life. The prolonged suffering and misleading false diagnosis and treatment Ruby had received at the hands of Blue Pearl in her final week of life was Unprofessional, Unacceptable and Unforgivable. May no other Senior Citizen suffer like me and my Ruby.

Dr. Bloomfield gave my cat an injection today for a symptom that was not even present, despite the fact that I texted, emailed, and verbalized my chief complaint & worrisome concerns to both to Bond Vet and directly to Dr. Bloomfield. My little cat is experiencing GI sensitivity. Over the past 2 days she's come very close to not-eating-at-all-for-24-hours, is sleeping a bit more than usual and is showing a near total DISINTEREST in eating. My little Missy is less than 5 pounds. She's very tiny & adorable, but also very frail (experiencing weight lost and near her complete limits). I was told by Dr. Bloomfield (and confirmed by his assistant) that Cerenia was an appetite inducing stimulant (and if it worked as hoped), would last for 24 hours. Seeing the lethargic, disoriented condition of Little Missy, I Googled Cerenia. It is NOT an appetite stimulant, it's PAINFUL (upon injection), causes LETHARGY and Disorientation. Why did my little Missy need this? Let alone Dr. Daniel Bloomfield did not handle Little Missy's body with compassion and respect; treated her tail like it was a handle (literally tugged on her tail) during the exam to get a look at her tush; not aggressively, yet, absolutely-not-gently. His "consult" was very fatalistic, he ignored my concerns, ignored my cat's smaller symptoms that -are- treatable to improve the quality of her life & instead was hyper-focused on her senior age. Both his dismissive and inattentive behavior during the consult and the Cerenia shot were harmful. Dr. Bloomfield caused Missy distress, sedation and disorientation. He worsened the very symptoms we came to him to address (with an extra "side" of disorientation that Missy did-not-have prior to his "treatment").
