An intimate dive bar nestled quietly in the neighborhood, Verdugo Bar offers a plentiful offering of local and vast craft breweries on top of being a full functioning bar. Among the patrons are locals working remote; catching a cold pint in between Excel spreadsheets and young lovers dressed up for a night on the town. No matter the occasion; Verdugo Bar has the unique ambiance that really is all purpose to satisfy the needs of many! Cheers!

Lil bday stop with bestie. Had a citrus cider here. The outdoor patio area is so nice during the daytime. I'd only been here at night before. Definitely coming back!

My first time at Verdugo bar and I had so much fun. It was definitely a five stars all around for me. It's really cute once you walk in and it's very hidden and they have a nice outdoor area with benches where you could have fun with friends or family, I think it's good for celebrations just to have a good time. My friends and I came on a Saturday in the afternoon and we had the pleasure to have Marco as our bartender and court. They were phenomenal with like exceptional service. They were attentive, super laid-back, and everything we asked, for they had it and made the drinks with no complaints, and all the drinks were very good. I also like how you can order pizza and food and you can bring it in there Inside the bar area is really nice and I love the ambience and how dark it is. They have nice booth where you can sit in a good amount of seats at the bar. Also, what I loved was the good music that they played, they had really good R&B and hip-hop music. This place is definitely a vibe you can dance and have a good time a dent pretty much the whole time because it was that much fun in the music was a vibe. The only downside is that the parking is very scarce and it's only street parking. However, once you find parking, you're forget about the time spent finding parking because it's a good time. Also, they have happy hour during the weekend as well, and they have good options with discounted prices, and his dog friendly as well so you can also bring your dog if you would like. Overall, I would definitely come back here and I recommend this bar if you wanna have a good time and have good customer service. -Marshay D.

Neighborhood bar, must check it out. A little dark inside but not to worry, you can hangout in the patio. They have happy hour, service is excellent and the drinks are just fine. Grab a friend or meet a new one here.

This is a bar that's easy to miss. It's on the corner, in a neighborhood, but also not...it's obscured by trees and ivy and it's just a little off the main road. Those who know this place know how fun it is and how memorable it can be. I came here on a cold November night. It rained lightly while we sat outside and it didn't disrupt our fun. Verdugo Bar is a classic. They have a famous curvy vintage bar along with these leather curved booths from another time. String lights give the place a nice glow. You order drinks at the bar and everyone behind there is super nice. They have a great selection of beers on tap and canned/bottled. They also have a collection of signature cocktails. The highlight of this particular visit was the Pina Colada. It's premade and comes out of a slushee machine. The alcohol is strong, but still has all the sweet flavor you expect. They also have a similar drink which is dole whip with mezcal. Imagine a perfect summer day at Disneyland with a smoky aftertaste. Finding a seat isn't much of a problem because they have a giant outdoor seating area. The walls are covered in signs of all the beers they've served over the years. Perfect spot to play board games or just catch up with friends. They have a window in the back where pop ups can set up shop. On this particular night, they had a slider and hot dog pop up show up. The old LA vibes outside and inside don't just make this any watering hole. When we pulled up I couldn't remember if I had been here before. Walking out to the back patio, I almost tripped on the little ramp that lead out there. It all came rushing back, I did the same thing 10 years ago. Come here for a drink or two and you'll remember it forever.

Large venue with lots of space for your crew to find a table! But get there early on a Friday evening for a table indoors! This place reminds me of a Biergarten in Germany! The bartenders are kind, friendly, and skilled with cocktails! They are very busy and do their best to keep the drinks served for all the thirsty folks! Music inside is rather loud. Sometimes, there's dancing! Be adviser that there is a detailed security check for safety. Doorman will look through your purse and have men empty their pockets. If you're celebrating a birthday and brought gifts, those will be searched. No bringing in bottles of alcohol as gifts. I'm not used to this. Still, imo, the doorman was firm but fair. Don't bring your skateboard, scooter, unicycle, nor bike. Nothing that may be used as a weapon or jeopardize safety will be allowed. I felt safe and enjoyed the good, neighborly vibes!

This is absolutely one of the best bars I've been to. Located in a interesting area that is both commercial and residential. As others mentioned, parking can be a bit tricky. The spot offers both indoor and outdoor seating with heat lamps. Plenty of room. Perfect place to hang out with friends. Mario, the security guy is super cool. The place is also pet friendly with plenty of watering bowls filled for them. Once inside, the vibe is completely different. Lots of high tables, comfortable communal booths and board games. Who doesn't like board games. There is even a old school photo booth. Plenty to sip on from beers on tap, ciders, mixed drinks, etc. Just pick your posion. Bartenders are very friendly. Especially Natalie. There is food, but it looks like it is only available outside. No food permitted inside. I will definitely return.

Ask the Community - Verdugo Bar

Are well-behaved pups allowed?

How's the parking situation?

Parking can be dicey - mostly street parking so get their early since it fills up fast. But with some luck you'll be OK.

Is this a good place for a group of about 7 or a b day? I just want to chill. Relax with some games and have some drinks. Also is their food trucks or food on sundays?

Best birthday spot in the area. I've had 3 birthdays here.

Do they still do food trucks?

Yes. Fridays for sure

Can you smoke in the patio?

Yes, smoking is allowed.

What night do they have djs? 21 and older?

Yes, our license requires that everyone must be at least 21 at all times. Djs spin every Friday and Saturday as well as some occasional Thursdays and weekend afternoons. Cheers!

We couldn't even get another side with a $40 meal of BURGERS. The burger wasn't anything special to be honest. But I will say their ranch tasted homemade and was so good. Their tots were perfectly crispy and seasoned. I would come back just for tots and ranch. You can order food through the QR code and then pick them up at the window inside. We came here on Friday around 5 PM. We were able to walk in and get a table. As it got later, the place started filling up. I got the miller lite slushie thing they make (I can't find it on any of the menu on Yelp right now so not really sure what it's called) but that was really good. I thought a slushie miller lite would be weird but it was actually really delightful and didn't really even taste like beer but I guess that makes sense since that beer probably tastes like water. Tbh I haven't had a miller lite on its own in over 12 years.

They had a tomato martini that sounded questionable, but it was actually amazing. It had tomato water, burrata infused vodka and a balsamic drizzle and I still think about it I wish they'd bring it back, but they always have so many other great cocktails. I've also tried the food, which was good, but I think there are better food options nearby. I mostly come here for the drinks and atmosphere, and they absolutely nail both.

Lots of themed nights and engaging activities to really bring the community together. I love the creative and fun cocktails. Lots of asian themes but also traditional tiki drinks. With the seemingly ever-changing landscape along Brand Blvd. in downtown Glendale, this establishment has been around since 2012 (which I believe was the first and only time I came here). Primarily known for its inventive craft cocktails and a killer whiskey selection, it was a nice place to sneak away into before or after your main event... or, maybe this could be the place to spend an entire evening. Would this bar famously make an impression on me to remember to return in the future!? PURCHASE(S) Fremont Brewing Dark Star Double Oatmeal Imperial Stout Beer 8.00% ABV 16floz Draft ($6.00 HH; Reg. $9.00): Dark brown color, coffee oatmeal roasty aroma, medium body, chocolate coffee oatmeal roasty toasty flavor, mouthfeel smooth finish, and coffee oatmeal roasty toasty aftertaste. After a few minutes of reviewing the menu, we each placed our order at the bar, our drinks were delivered quickly while the food took mere minutes to arrive at the table. We had to approach the bar each time we ordered something, but any empty glasses and plates were collected at the table. Once we closed out our tabs, we were thanked for coming as we headed out into the night. Everything was chill and easy - thank you! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance): I parked in the nearby original Glendale Galleria parking structure and simply walked over first to The Americana then to this place. Otherwise, there was limited parking along the main drag of Brand Blvd. and other surrounding side streets, the nearby Glendale Galleria II parking structure, The Americana parking structure that offered validation, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A dark cavernous speakeasy-like place with open space, various tables and couches strewn about, and a large long somewhat decorative bar with an impressive whiskey selection displayed behind it. I appreciated the exposed brick walls which gave it that old-time feel with a few framed pictures hung on them. Minimal natural lighting came through the front doors and windows while minimal electric ceiling lights filled in rest. There was at least one projection TV where we watched the Dodgers game while music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=SomLKsk1KVcemeOCHGOZfg ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to slip into The Famous Bar for the first time in over a decade, and if I found myself spending time in downtown Glendale again, I'd consider another visit. Sadly, I try to avoid the highly congested area as much as possible. I loved the fact that they had a daily happy hour (4pm-7pm) and late-night SU-TH happy hours (10:30pm-close), so there was always a deal to be found. The drinks were the main reason you came, while the food was just an add-on. The prices were elevated, but you had a good menu selection of libations (nice local craft beer list) to choose from. The customer service was easy, friendly, and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $42.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... LADIES, PLEASE BE CAREFUL! Save your money and think twice before visiting this business!…read more Just as I have recommended this place to several people in the past, I believe it's equally important to share my negative experience and be honest about what happened. I visited with a group of new friends who had never been to this establishment before. Less than 20 minutes into our visit, we were dealing with a clearly intoxicated male & female sitting next to us who repeatedly accused us of bumping into him, not saying "excuse me" etc. despite the fact that we had only just arrived. He was clearly intoxicated. The situation quickly escalated into verbal harassment, and my friend and I were insulted and made to feel extremely uncomfortable. The man physically got out of his chair and yelled at us on two separate occasions, leaving us feeling unsafe and concerned that the situation could turn physical. We brought the issue to the manager's attention, expecting the situation to be handled appropriately. Instead, the individuals involved were allowed to remain at the bar. We were essentially told to sit at opposite ends of the establishment rather than seeing any meaningful action taken to address the behavior. As a customer, I should not have to leave a business because I feel unsafe after reporting aggressive and intimidating behavior. My friend and I ultimately decided to leave, despite having every intention of enjoying our evening. Several other people witnessed what happened. I am extremely disappointed in how this situation was handled. A business has a responsibility to take its customers' safety seriously, especially when someone is visibly intoxicated and behaving aggressively toward others. I genuinely wanted to love this place and had previously encouraged others to visit. Unfortunately, this experience completely changed my opinion. No one should have to choose between their personal safety and enjoying a night out. I hope management takes situations like this more seriously in the future, because the way a business responds to its customers when something goes wrong says everything about its standards and values.

Unfortunately, I don't have any photos because we're trying to get better about actually enjoying our meals instead of always taking pictures of everything, but man, everything was so delicious and the portions were nicely sized. For a party of two, we started with the baba ghanoush, which was so good. The bread was warm, fluffy, and perfect with it. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts. They weren't my favorite dish of the night, mostly because they were pretty tart and saucy, and I'm personally not a huge sour or tart person. But we still finished them, so that should tell you something. If you like saucier dishes with a more tangy flavor, you'll probably love them. The rice was amazing. It had different types of raisins, nuts, and so much flavor. It was honestly beautiful. We also ordered the branzino, which was really, really good. For our first time here, I think we did a pretty good job ordering, especially because we had no idea how generous the portions would be. We are two full-grown adults and we were stuffed. We even had to take some of the rice and branzino home, and we definitely did not have room for dessert. The service was great too. It was surprisingly busy for a weekday, but everything still felt organized and well handled. The staff was friendly and attentive, and we never felt forgotten even with how packed it was. This place is perfect for sharing and would be amazing for a bigger group. The space itself is also so beautiful. It has a historic and eclectic vibe and it would be perfect for a date night or catching up with friends. There's also so much to do around the area before or after dinner. I'll definitely be back.
