Because on Friday 11/9/18 I had dinner at Chapman Hall. I was disgusted with what I saw. All that I had heard about true. You as a human and an educator should be ashamed and disgraced at what you are trying to serve these students. Friday, I had the cheese enchiladas and rice. I had a fruit bowl and pasta salad as well as what I thought to be a brownie. First the cheese enchiladas rated a 5 out of 10. They were tolerable at best. I'm not sure who taught the chef to use nacho cheese sauce as a filler but that so call chef should be fired. The rice was a gob of sticky mess. It was an odd color, no taste what so ever. The fruit salad was good, but who can screw up sliced fruit. The pasta salad typical tasteless food from a container of mass-produced crap. The brownie was dry and tasteless as well. Even the standard box brownie mixes have more flavor. Over all I rated it a 4 out of ten. It was food, without taste and certainly no satisfied feeling. I went for fast food after my meal which may other students do as well. As I sat there and observed most student complained about the food (I sat in a group of about 10). Most would take several courses, try the food often eating 1-3 bites and giving up. Most complained it took several courses just to get enough tolerable food to make a meal. This was a very common theme and spoke volumes to the quality of this food. Most also stated that they would often eat out or food in their rooms. I also found out most students and their families are required to buy meal plans. I see why. This food is forced on these students. If it were voluntary none would eat there closing that facility/ Honestly it should be closed or at least that food service provider fired. Im not sure which company is in charge of this facility but they should not be in the food service business. As I close this letter please not Im far from done on this matter. I will find the deans contact information. I will continue to condemn anyone like yourself standing up for this pathetic excuse of a chef and food service company. I will continue to encourage the students to speak out against this matter as they already do and no one listens. Saddest thing to this, is these students are paying for this crap with these meal plans, often becoming part of their student loans. Please respond, I dare you to try to defend this food after I have personally witnessed all of this.

They also have so many fun activities. The fact that they encourage children to be independent and help them understand the subjects is awesome!!! The kids always accept new comers and help the m find friends. I specifically admire the chapel days and the concentration on God and his words/works.

The staff has worked to ensure that all of our guests are treated so professionally. Our speaker was impressed with the tech person who was here early to help him set up! It is a somewhat small school so the students get plenty of attention from the teachers and staff. There are myriad extracurricular activities as well - arts, athletics, etc. Virtually every graduate goes on to college, and that includes some of the top colleges in the country. One telling statistic is that Holland Hall is always near the top in the state in National Merit Scholars. I will tell you that it is very pricey, and it is a major sacrifice for me, but they do offer financial aid for those who may not be able to afford to send their children here otherwise. I can't say enough good things about Holland Hall, so I will just close by saying it is as much a family as it is a school.
