Relaxing in the vineyard with our selection.
    Mel K.

We were greeted by an older gentleman (I believe the owners father) & had a lovely conversation prior to entering for our tasting. The server offering our tasting was hospitable and helpful. The owner even talked to us briefly, prior to engaging with a frequent customer. We selected a bottle to share while enjoying the view of the vineyard. The older gentleman came by again engaging us with further conversation prior to doing some research for the vines. While much of wines were on the dry side, there was a selection of smooth, semisweet or semi dry options.

This may be my favorite Vineyard in the area ( I've been to 3). This is a good one to head to with some friends, bring your lunch and snacks for the day, and just relax. The owner lives onsite and I've been told-though I've never tried--that if you wanna stop by when they're closed just pop in. He's friendly enough that I'm sure that's probably right-but I'll just wait till they're open. Plenty of tables, plenty of space to pace, and plenty of chickens to gawk at.

Thanks to The Boston Globe and JWU Professor Cindy Salvato, we took a field trip to Verde Vineyards on New Year's Day 2023. They are currently pouring four whites and two reds. The red wines were not our favorite but I could see them being delightful when paired with food. We really enjoyed all the white wines with the Cayuga White being our favorite. We met some other wine guys who are going to educate us about CT and western MA vineyards. After a lovely and educational wine tasting, we took a bottle to sit and drink outside. It was just warm enough in the sun to look over the vineyard and enjoy a gorgeous New England day. Thank you for your wine and your knowledge, Verde Vineyards.

Wonderful surprise. Friendly staff and scenic outdoor seating with adorable chickens. We tried Surveyor, a red, and it was delicious. Definitely worth the trip! We are already planning to go back

Best thing about this vineyard is that the wines are not obvious or typical. Two unique whites, two unique reds and all are reasonably priced! This is the perfect spot for a picnic with friends and enjoy the beautiful vineyard!

A hidden gem! Great place to come for some wine. It's a small vineyard but the the wines are excellent. It has plenty of space to sit comfortably away from other people. Bring your own chairs if you want or sit on theirs. It's not usually super busy here compared to Newport vineyards which is always packed. Good if you like less of a crowd in a county setting.

What a cute boutique family-owned vineyard that has unique hybrid varietals. We loved their Itasca white and Petite Pearl. The service was top notch and theres a nice area to sit outside to enjoy your wine.

What can I say that hasn't been said. Jim is very informative. I love that his passion leads him to want you to enjoy all that Rhode Island has to offer, by suggesting other local wineries. This shows a lot about a business. I'm a big white wine drinker, but always sample reds. Never finding one I liked enough to purchase, until today. Verde's reds are smooth and not oaky. We left with a bottle of Surveyor, I really enjoyed the Cayuga and Bianco d'Amelia. Highly suggest bringing a picnic when spring comes around.

When I arrived she and her husband were having a very genial conversation with the owner Dave at the outdoor seating area. The vineyard is clearing some land and the entrance drive, at the time of my visit, was strewn with downed timber and a large dirt parking area at the end. There is a sign on the street pointing you into the driveway. Once the introductions were over Dave told us about the vineyards he has and the one's he plans to plant. Where he gets grapes from and how he produces his wine. We walked in to the converted barn which is beautifully decorated with a large bar in the center and comfortable seating areas around the perimeter. They have a rack of bottles ready to be sold and a gift box display. The day we went there were four or five wines available. Once a type has sold out, it's done for the season so those who know and like Dave's wine know when to head over to make their purchases. Some offerings are ready in Spring while others are not available until Autumn. I ended up purchasing two bottles each of three of the available wines. The Riesling is a bit dry and not too sweet. Lovely. The Cab had a nice 'full mouth' feel to it and a clean finish. I have been disappointed by other RI wine producers and to be honest I didn't have high expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised. We also had an opportunity to meet Dave's wife and children. This is truly a family business. With each new arrival, Dave made a point to say hello, get their name, tell them his and pour them a glass. We sampled each of the available wines but others came in just to enjoy a glass. The atmosphere was such that everyone was chatty with each other even though we were strangers. It made for a very enjoyable visit. This vineyard is in the woods and the drive up is just beautiful along winding back roads. On a beautiful, sunny Saturday, it made for a very enjoyable day. If I could suggest just one thing it would be to offer a small snack. This may be a sticky wicket as they are a wine producer, not a restaurant and I'm sure that brings up a whole other set of laws. During our visit his 'intern' showed up with a spinach and pepperoni calzone which he offered all around. It was just delightful and I was very happy to have something to eat after sampling several wines. Maybe next time I'll just bring along a snack to share. I hope that's OK.

I tried their flight, which offers samples of any six wines on their regular wine list. I chose one white that looked intriguing called Halo. It was one of my favorites of the selection, with nice tropical flavors. Of the reds, I most enjoyed their Twilight, a blackberry wine, and I purchased a couple bottles of this one to bring home. The staff was super nice and even helped me carry my cheese and crackers and flight out to the patio. Service was very quick as I came toward the end of the day. Atmosphere is nice and chill with outside seating (with heaters), some indoor seating and stand up service at the bar. Really look forward to returning here to sample their dessert wines. One enthusiastic customer even shared with me recommendations as I was checking out. Flights are a little higher priced compared to other wineries I have visited recently. Wine flight was $15 and dessert flight was a few dollars more. I LOVE that this winery is 21+ only and also does not allow dogs, which made for such a chill and relaxing experience. It was legitimately tranquil and so nice!

The winery is open 12-4 on weekends and allows you to bring in your own food, which was the perfect way for us to enjoy some local wine in a beautiful setting. There is seating inside the house, outside on a covered patio area, and they have tables scattered across the lawn so there are many options to pick from. We each decided on a wine flight before selecting some bottles and paired it with the snack trays we brought from home and we enjoyed a relaxing afternoon together on the grounds of this vineyard. One thing to note, the road to the winery is very narrow so they employ a metered light system at the beginning of the road. It's important to wait for the red light to turn off before driving down the narrow stretch. The person in front of me didn't do this and ended up having to back up (reverse) down a narrow and winding path to allow the incoming cars (who had the right of way) through. For visitors with mobility needs, there is a grass parking lot and lots of cobblestones and lose rock to navigate during your time here, so be mindful of that. There are a few stairs in order to gain entry into the house to shop/select the wines and the bathroom is not wheelchair accessible.

"Walk in as strangers, leave as friends."…read more If that's not a saying that makes you want to head there now, then I don't know what is LOL! Obviously, there is more to the new renovated location of La Cantina than this saying but I will say I was pretty impressed when I saw it and knew I had to add it to my review. Let's just say it is pretty accurate. We did leave as friends since we made a few at the bar and then some. Just saying! La Cantina winery in Franklin, MA used to be a small wine bar that offered wine tasting flights and minimal food. BUT, now it is in a stunning new location (not far from their old stomping grounds). Fun Fact: It used to be a Mechanic garage. Well, wait until you see how it has turned from fixing cars to wine making and tasting. YOU HAVE GOT TO COME HERE! Parking is easy with plenty of spots. They have a lot of room at their gorgeous bar, but they also have high tops and tables for families or a large group. And, they host events here too; birthday parties, bridal showers, and anything in between, this place is it. I actually want to hold one of my milestone birthday parties here but well keep the number a secret for now. Service: Alana was our bartender and she was wonderful. Always asking us what we needed and how were doing. You don't get this upscale service any where else. And, when I wanted another sample of something she gave it to me without a fuss. Always with a smile on her face, she was the best. Wine: They have an excellent wine menu to choose from and they offer flights for about $25 pp. Flights are the best way to try multiple wines. I personally loved most of the red wines with Petit Sirah being my favorite. My husband loved their Barbera! I did sample their Sauv Blanc too which was nice but it was too cold to have a full pour. Food: Their menu is great with a ton of options from charcuterie, to tapas and some entrees. I will say some of their items can get expensive but definitely worth it. We started with a few cheeses and prosciutto. Then we ordered one of their popular pizzas called La Cantina. Everything was fresh, made in house with their beautiful pizza oven right smack in the middle of the bar. You have got to see this thing, its huge! Overall: If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We had the best time and we can't wait to go back. Franklin is not far from where we live but still a good 30 minute drive and also not far from the Wrentham outlets. We didn't have to make a reservation for a Sunday afternoon but I bet Saturdays can get pretty busy. I just loved everything about this wine bar and I know you will too! Cheers~

She explained the wine flights and offered a sample of Reisling to my girlfriend, who preferred Moscato, which La Cantina doesn't offer (though no one trait does in New England). Thankfully Alna had a similar palate to that of my girlfriend, and they quickly made a connection. Love that! I chose a flight of reds and ultimately preferred the Clone 8 above those that I tried, thigh the Cab Sav Reserve was a close second. The Drunken Goat cheese sample was delicious too! The menu definitely has us eager to come back for food. And for those who aren't wine drinkers they have a small selection of beer and a cider. The atmosphere is lively and open, and looks like they'd open up the large bar doors on a nice day. Come enjoy a flight, or a glass, you can't go wrong!
