After many visits here I still find it to be average at best. The people are freat, but the food seems to be lacking. The refried beans have almost no flavor, the rice is bland, and they use a low grade cheese. read more

We seriously love this place! The owners are there most every time we go there for dinner and we always enjoy our visit! Food is well priced, it isn't overly loud, and the staff looks knows we enjoy hotter salsa so the just bring it to our table. I can't believe we didn't try this place sooner! One of my husbands friends mentioned this place yesterday morning. My husband told me about it so we stopped in for lunch! We were greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly. With our yelp check-in, we received a free small cheese sauce, which was delicious! The chips and salsa were fresh and delicious, too. My husband ordered a steak burrito and I ordered the chicken fajitas. The portions were HUGE! My fajitas included a lot of peppers (which is rare!). It was served with beans and rice, which were also great. The flour tortillas were warm and fresh. These fajitas were hands down the best I've had in a restaurant! My husbands steak burrito was killer, too! The steak was tender and perfectly cooked. The portions were so large that we didn't eat dinner last night! Came here for some carry out and a drink while I waited. I sat at the bar and tried to order a drink from the bartender. I was told I had a server, but he'd get the drink started for me. I got my drink it took at least 5 minutes for a server to come up to me. It took another ten for her to come back to take my order. It took over 60 min to get my food. They did give me a free entree, for next time because of the wait. The food was decent, but the service wasn't. Maybe I just came in on an off night, but nothing special here. read more

This is the standard by which we judge most Mexican restaurants that we visit now. We have had a few visits with exceptional service, and a few with just average service, but the food is always excellent. My favorite dish is the Chori Pollo, and it has become a favorite for one of my kids as well. My wife likes the enchiladas, and my other daughter usually goes with tacos of some kind. They have good chips, good salsa, and we always order white cheese dip. I will say that the one time we got queso fundido it was not as good as I have had other places, but it's hard to go wrong with good chorizo and cheese. They have sweet tea (which is almost a requirement for my family at this point). Not all places in this area have horchata, so having that available is a big plus in my book too. Definitely recommend. There are TONS of cookie-cutter mexican places locally, and this one is a nice change. They need to do a better job with signage because it's in a strip mall off of a connecting road, but it's hard to see unless you know it's there. read more

Went for Cinco. Expected busy time and it was. Waited quite long for server, chips came quickly. Had to ask for waters 3 times. Margarita was called top shelf but no buzz at all from a pitcher for either of us. 3 people got their food but not nine. Two served first then like 5 minutes later my wife got hers. Mine came 15 minutes later after everyone had basically finished. Asked to speak to a manager. Two people came over but neither one seemed like a manager. Just kept saying we were real busy. Doesn't explain food times. Turns out someone took my food order. No rice and beans on 3 orders. Again excuse was we're busy and we ran out of those. People at table across from use got their food after and surprisingly they got beans and rice. No effort to make it right comp my meal. Kept asking for some acknowledgment and male person finally said we'd get 25% off both our total bills. Went to cashier to pay and they only wanted to do 50% of my entree like $8. Tried to explain and cashier just kept saying we're really busy. We never complained about the wait even though the whole process took almost 2 hours. Spoke Spanish to each other which is rude since I have no idea what was said. Seemed disrespectful in tone but not sure. Definitely won't return. Too many places with better food and service. Never say you'll do something and then try to change that. read more

In need of a lunch spot while attending my nephew's all-day soccer tournament at a nearby park, I decided to try Veracruz because Mexican restaurants are reliably good. As is typically the case, the meal started with chips and salsa - neither of which were anything special. I also ordered guacamole, and while it was a beautiful consistency, it was quite bland - a sad day indeed when guacamole disappoints. My shrimp quesadilla lifted my spirits from there though as it was overstuffed with plump, well-cooked shrimp. I was surprised by the freshness, size, and quality of the shrimp which I feared may be of the tiny salad-sized variety (and assumed would probably be overcooked). For the price, the portion was very generous, and despite its deliciousness, I couldn't finish my quesadilla because I was so full. Service was very fast but not quite as friendly. I was dining with a small group (4 adults, 2 kids) and we only had two checks, but when we received them they were wrong, which always puts a damper on things at the end of a meal. All things considered, it's not a bad lunch option for its area (we couldn't find much by way of a non-chain eatery), but I wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

We love Veracruz! It's been one of our favorites since we moved here two years ago. The main reason I wanted to add my review was to give some credit to the amazing service we have received the past two times we have visited. Our waitress on both occasions was Jessica...she is AWESOME! Super friendly and handled our "weird" orders with ease! We will always ask for her when we go to Veracruz! And BTW...the food is awesome! My girls and husband always get Chori Pollo and they love it! I always get their enchiladas in some form...hand down the best I've had since moving to Ohio. This is the best Mexican restaurant in Middletown. It's nestled in a grubby strip mall in a weird location, but it's wonderful. The chips and salsa are the best in town. The chips are warm and the salsa is cold- making a great combination. Recommendation: Steak fajitas They have lunch specials, happy hour specials and a great atmosphere. Service is quick, efficient and accurate- which is a plus for anywhere. The establishment is clean and spacious. They place festive music and have delicious looking mixed drinks. Since I visit during lunch hours, I can't be drinking, so never really tried them. read more

Typical Mexican restaurant..started off with complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. Chips were warm, thin, and crispy. The salsa needed a little more heat but otherwise good. The margaritas were good and reasonably priced. I ordered the #20 carnita burrito. Delicious, tender pork stuffed with rice and beans. They put a side of cheese sauce on the side to pour over the burrito. My only disappointment was when I checked in, I got an offer for a free 4 ounce cheese sauce and they would not honor it. So if this is the first time trying Veracruz and you are a Yelper, if this offer pops up when you check in, be prepared to hear no. I don't know if the business owner needs to remove the offer or update the expiration date but they will not honor it. Other than that, everything else was good. read more

I had the carnitas burrito. The burrito seemed to be a lot of tortilla shell. The pork was tender and juicy but maybe just a bit salty. Inside the burrito was only refried beans and pork. Lettuce was fresh and crisp. Rice average. Friends had chicken fajitas. Very good and they would order again. Came with four tortillas instead of the usual three. We found Veracruz on Yelp and was looking for something different so thought we'd give it a go. The restaurant itself is really festival and the decor was colorful and pleasant. We were seated right away and I got the jalapeño margarita while my husband had a beer. The chips and salsa along with some guacamole was a good start. I got a burrito that was covered in a quest sauce with chorizo with grilled shrimp on top. Inside was onions and chicken strips. Lettuce, rice and sour cream on the side. My husband got the carnitas. The food was delicious and serving was huge. The service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant was clean as well as the bathrooms. They have cool T-shirt's to buy. We will be back !! read more

Everyone raves about this place but we were not that impressed. The restaurant is really cool except the signs mocking illegal immigration. Food was not good at all. Service was ok but we had three people waiting on us. No coupons available and was more than El Rancho. Fajitas were bland. May give it another shot at some point. We've ordered takeout several times during the pandemic. Dispute being slammed with orders, they still have food ready in a timely manner. Love the margaritas, especially the prickly pear. Most times the food is very good. There was one night it lacked a little, but then everyone is entitled to an off night, especially during these trying times. Stop wasting your money at El Raunchy and go here instead! Service was OUTSTANDING from the second my family walked through the door. A party of over 20 people was ahead of us, and our food still came out quickly. The staff was incredibly accommodating and courteous. Also very kid friendly. The chips were crisp and fresh, and the salsa was obviously fresh, flavored beautifully with cilantro. They also give guest their own salsa bowl. (It's those little things that make all the difference.) As for the food, I had the choripollo, which is a combination of chicken and chorizo in a light cheese sauce served with rice, beans, and tortillas. My partner (who is an experienced chef, restaurant consultant, and general manager) was raving about the service and food. I'll definitely be back! read more

Decided to try something different while we were at the Outlet Mall Shopping. I had never even heard of Veracruz, but am glad I have now. The feel was very Mexican, which is a big plus for me. So many chain Mexican restaurants do not feel authentic, but this did. We came in for a late lunch and left stuffed...with leftovers. My wife ordered the chicken enchiladas and said they were good. I got the supreme enchiladas and really enjoyed them. It was, by far, the best beef enchilada that I have had in a long, long time. For some reason, the beef never tastes like beef. This was delicious and beefy. The other enchiladas were also tasty, but the beef was the stand-out for me. Their salsa is slightly bland and could use some heat, but that is more of a preference thing. Give this place a try, you may like it. read more
