I spoke with Vera Marcus on 8/3/22 and set up an appointment for the following day 8/4/22 at 12:30pm. It was going to be my first time touching base with an attorney about a potential case in the near future. She was very short on the phone, and basically made it seem like her time was too precious and expensive to even speak on the phone with me and give me the smallest crumbs of advice. No free consultations, I was to pay her $150 CASH (only)- when we met the following day. She explained to me she'd be showing up to this location strictly for me, so make sure that I'm there. I told her I'd take off from work and have my child watched, and I'd be there, cash in hand. She never showed up at all, and she never called. The gentleman who works across the hall from her office says she's never really there, and this is certainly not the first time he's seen her miss appointments! I may report it to the bar- so irresponsible and rude. read more

I was excited to meet Vera, after reading about her background she seemed like an empathetic, knowledgeable attorney. This was my experience: * Would ask me a question, interrupt me, then told me to stop interrupting her * Asked if I knew what legal terms meant in a condescending way, and if I did she would laugh, if I didn't she wouldn't explain * I have no family in the area and my estranged husband passed out from medication while watching our 4 year old. I called CPS. Vera told me I might as well have called the IRS on myself. * Held her hand up to me and told me to STOP TALKING * Told me I need to be a 'truth-teller' * Asked me about my son, asked who his favorite parent is (which was odd), and then proceeded to interrupt me again to say I had not told her anything about my son - so maybe she needs lessons on 'truth-telling' herself * I had such high hopes and ended up leaving 19 minutes into our 60 minute appointment after I told her I have had enough with the disrespectful comments and gestures * She said this had never happened before in her career, that I can take back $100 of the $150 because she cares about people - not money, she sure made me feel the opposite * I left with no legal advice, plan, and with more desperation read more

I called this office for help, asking if they have time and how does it work. Her reply was "I don't do counsels over the phone but rather In person for a few of $150 per hour". I replied "I'm not trying to be counseled over the phone, I need to know if I have to make an appointment or just walk in" Her reply to that was "I can tell by our conversation that you will not be a good fit for us, good luck" read more

Vera is an excellent advocate for her clients. She is tireless in her representation and I would highly recommend her. She knows when to settle and when to fight - an important skill in this field. I worked on the opposite side of a case from her and she earned by respect! read more

In search of an attorney I started where most people start... Google. I called this so-called attorney to set up a consultation. When she answered the phone she was very rude and appeared to be mentally ill. Unclear due to limited information on Google, asked her if her office took child support cases. She danced around the subject slurring her words (she appeared to be drunk or possibly under the influence of meds I'm not sure) I continued to listen as she talked about what other people do when pursuing child support... She also insinuated that I couldn't afford HER services by repeating " MY services are VERY expensive... You'd be better off going to DCSS! She kept mentioning her price for consultations and that she refuses to conduct telephone briefings ( In other words, yes I'll take a child support case but I won't listen to what KIND of case it is until you come in for a meeting... Only then will I decide if I will take your case) She seemed very depressed and money hungry with no real sense of compassion. When she FINALLY stopped rambling on I gave her a 90 second briefing regarding why I was looking to set up a consultation. (In other words the reason for my call) She sighed repeatedly before interrupting me to say my story was too long and she didn't "wanna hear it". She continued to slur her words (she was clearly on something I could tell at this point) going on and on about her fees. I aologized to her if she'd felt that she didn't have 90 seconds but assured her that this is a briefing not an attempt to get a free consultation... She started raising her voice saying she would be going in to surgery over the next few months and didn't have the energy or time to take on a child support case. I thought to myself " then why not just say ' yes we take child support cases however, not at this moment"(?) I told her that I was sorry to hear that but she was very rude and I didn't want to move forward. She over talked me now yelling before hanging up in my face. I took my 90 second briefing to the next attorney on the list, I was treated with the right level of professionalism. The attorney was able to determine right away that he could take my case. His consultations are more reasonable than hers so I set up a meeting for next week. After hanging up with him, I called Vera back to apologize again if I'd upset her and to assure her that I had no ill intentions. It was also on my heart to wish her well and send positive vibes her way for a successful surgery and speedy recovery. She answered the phone yelling saying " I'm blocking your fuckin number don't call my damn office again!!!" I was CONFUSED AND NOW UPSET!!! (My pet peeves are rude people and poor quality service) I called this fool back and left her a message telling her that I had NEVER seen a more unprofessional, tactless attorney in all my daggon life. I told her that not only did she SOUND ill physically but MENTALLY as well. I suggested that she shut down her operation and take some personal time to take care of herself because she is clearly BOTHERED and unable to provide services ESPECIALLY "LEGAL" services to ANYONE at this point in her career! I wished her many blessings with her upcoming surgery and recovery. I truly hope she finds some peace, everyone deserves that but would I trust this foolish woman with my case?!!! Heck NO!!! I ended that message with " I can understand why you have no reviews now, best of luck sister" I went to the poorly built website and saw that she takes payments via paypal and the last review was 2012. SMH GTHOH M'aam you are nobody's attorney. read more

I am recently separated from my husband of 10 years and we've collectively acquired so much debt and have had several domestic issues for years. I reached out to Attorney Marcus well after hours for advice on how to move forward. While divorce in this instance is eminent, I did not know where to start. She was very receptive and concerned about my issues. She was very knowledgeable and professional. I have since secured her as my attorney and am looking forward to a productive dissolution of my marriage. read more

I recently needed an attorney for the first time in my life. I was getting divorced and I barely new where to start. I chose Ms. Marcus to help guide me through this mess. I feel that is exactly what happened. I was ignorant to the entire process and she explained in detail each step along the way. She translated the legal formalities until she was sure I understood them. We then discussed my options by examining potential outcomes and expenses associated with each outcome. Ms. Marcus gave me advice based on her experience, which helped me make quality decisions. I was always so appreciative of her accessibility. I had heard horror stories about lawyers dodging clients. This would have been a nightmare scenario for my situation. Luckily Ms. Marcus was consistently available. She either answered her phone or called me back in a timely fashion. A few times she went extremely above and beyond to make time for my case. I realize how important it was during that immensely stressful time to have an attorney that was always in my corner. The security of having my legal representation, Ms. Vera Marcus, only a phone call away was just as important as her legal expertise. These are a few reasons I highly recommend Ms. Marcus. read more

If I could give her 10 stars I would!! Here they are********** She will take care of you when others have failed. I have used her on 3 occasions:Yes 3, God help me. 1. Joint Custody for my son, she did an amazing job. The other grandmother hired a top firm for LOTS of cash. Ms. Marcus stood her ground and we came out great. Rates were fare, similar to what others charge. It's a lot of work, but it's your kid so who cares. P.S. they are back together the kids are nearly grown and everyone is very happy. 2. Brother had the worst case EVER against the state. Odd and sad story won't give you the details but he had no standing in court because he wasn't the bio dad. NO he just raised the kid for 4 years. He was able to have visitation right away, got them to work it all out he's had the kid for 6 years since then. Great story. 3. Was a work related case against a big oil company and she took care of it and were so happy. Bottomline I have used Ms. Marcus for our family attorney for over 15 years or there about. She's tough in court has back bone and won't let you down.Price I can't say she's more or less, I believe it's my kids, and I get what I pay for. I have paid more for other attorneys 20 years ago for my own kid so I personally think pricing was fine. Thank you Ms. Marcus you should know who this is by the stories. read more

I called to inquire about the process of her services. She refused to give me an answer over the phone and jumped to many conclusions within the conversation. She danced around answers and had a poor attitude, insisting she would only meet with me in person for an absurd rate(mind you she couldn't even tell me whether she would be able to help me). Needless to say her attitude is the reason that I will not be needing her help. I'm glad that event happened, I was able to speak to someone that was extremely helpful at another law office. read more

Vera did it for me! I've always been the custodial parent for my child. Recently my backwards son's father who recently got married thought he could do a better job than me. He wanted full custody to avoid child support. Well, I called Vera and she put the madness to rest. She's the best! read more

My father recently passed, and my siblings and I could not come to terms with the Trust that my father left to us. With that considered, I had to get help on my own to keep from getting screwed. I called this firm and was given very real advice! Attorney Marcus seemed very understanding to my position in this mess. I'll just say she worked magic where I thought nothing could be done. read more

Not a very interesting experience with this lawyer. I am devastated that I just got served divorcing papers saw that Vera had 1 single review and said oh well I will give a try. I tried to keep an open minded when I got punctually at my appointment but could only get inside her office by 3:15pm. First she gives a paperwork to fill out, then she invites you to go inside and asked me if I was ok with dog. Sat down in her brown chair and first thing she asks me is "how do you want to pay?" I answered well I saw in your site that you accept PayPal...well I have credit card as well would you take? She answered, well I have to pay a fee for credit card. She took my credit card but then she had to change a password, I wait about 15 minutes while I watched her dog humping his own bed. Oh, well, I thought don't be so critical. Anyway, she try to take my payment but it gave her a message. I said I use everyday that Costco card and works like magic; she replied with a not so patience answer: "I know that maybe true but now didn't work". Next, she calmly said soft "I can try it again". I replied to her I don't think that's working... and that was it. I got up and said thanks and she told me to GET OUT HER OFFICE THAT SHE HAD WORK TO DO." I do not recommend her services. Her demeanor is rude. She has an attitude. read more

Ms. Marcus was not only a fantastic lawyer during my custody battle but also a terrific person, dedicating extra hours to make sure my kids were home on Christmas. The best gift I received this year was having my two little ones runs down the stairs to open presents with me :) I am very grateful I had Ms. Marcus fighting for me and I will definitely be using her for anything I need in the future! read more

Got some bad advice from someone to try her, wish I didn't. Unprofessional and nasty, plus she'll reem you on her costs. Big mistake, won't repeat it next time, if there is one. Avoid at all costs. read more
