I was very hesitant to try this place due to some of the reviews I read…read more Cons: 1. The phone # listed online is different than the one listed on the sign outside the door. 2. She only accepts cash or check and this was not discussed via our text convo or when we discussed me picking up. So I had to leave and go get cash (which during Covid would appear to be more of a hassle than it ever should be) 3. Hard to find. The sign is in the front and the only entrance is around the back of the building on the bottom by the hair salon. I would've rather not have had to drive over, to see a sign with a different phone # and different hours of operations. But I do understand that not everyone is tech savvy & probably doesn't do much social media. Pros: 1. Quick response: I text the # listed on the door and got a prompt response for an apt the next day. 2. Appointments: She is doing appointments only due to Covid. I wore a mask, she wore a mask and no one else was inside during any of my visit. I had the lining of a dress for a wedding I'm attending hemmed. 3. Quick turnaround: My apt was on Tue., and I was able to pick up Fri. morning. I will say that almost $18 for the liner to be hemmed seemed a bit steep to me. I worked in prom & bridal for a long time & that typically ran $10-12. It was a very simple fabric as well. But I'm happy with the quick turnaround. She was there when she said. Over all, she was friendly, the place was clean, and her work was great for a hem!

A couple of weeks ago, I dropped off three maxi dresses dresses for hemming - total cost: $57.12…read more Last week I took three more maxi dresses for hemming. When I went to pick them up: $131.10. No warnings, no information given AT ANY TIME about the cost - just a snarky woman shrugging her shoulders and informing me "it's more for anything longer than 40 inches." It would have been REALLY NICE to have heard that BEFORE I was dropping them off, instead of AFTER it's too late. I've shown up and they're holding my dresses hostage for an exorbitant amount of money. No pay, no dresses. Seriously? Are you kidding? I bought them at OLD NAVY. It's not like any of them had a cathedral train or anything. I MAY have paid $25 each for them. I do not mind anyone making a fair profit, but it bugs the hell out of me, when I know I'm being taken advantage of, and have no recourse other than to pay. Which is the barrel Prestige Cleaners had me over. Thank you, nice alterations people. If I had been thinking clearly, instead of standing there being dumbfounded at the audacity of the highway robbery I was experiencing, I would've told them to keep the damned dresses, and to stuff all three in a very uncomfortable place. I learned my lesson the hard way - these people are unrepentant rip-off artists. I'm never going there again. Bottom line: If you actually LIKE getting ripped off, you should definitely go there. If not, pick ANY other alterations shop in the city and save your $$$$$$$$$

I was quoted $68 to fix the dress. When it was picked up it was $138 and I had not been contacted about the increase. I had asked them to fix my dress so that I could pull up the train and either attach it to the dress or the arm. This was never done. Today I tried a fitting with my future mother in law and the dress is still at least 3 inches to long. At this point ir is not usable and my wedding is on May 25. There is no time to fix the dress. Please don't let this ruin your wedding like it has mine.

I've attached screenshots from the TWO identical dresses I bought to wear to my daughter's wedding. You accused me of wearing the one that you ruined. As I told you, it was ruined and unwearable. I bought another. You asked why I did not bring it back to you, and as I told you, my primary concern was making sure that you were able to finish my daughter's dress in time for the wedding. Spoiler, you not only did not finish her dress, you did not allow her to try it on, you threw her out the door, and charged her twice your original estimate. And that's not counting the horrible way you spoke to her and the things you said. I understand that the first dress I brought to you needed significant alterations. That's why I brought it and ASKED YOU if it was repairable. You told me that you could do that, and all about how you would get it done. You did not have me back for a final fitting, even though I offered to come up; you told Alex it was unnecessary. When I tried to put that dress on, the sleeves had been cut back short, which was never requested, they were different lengths, and the biggest issue by far was that the arm holes had been cut so small that I simply could not get my arms into the dress! No, I did not pay your unreasonable bill. Honestly, I was stunned that you would have the nerve to send it to me after everything you did. Oh, I also noticed you deleted all of your Google reviews. That's ethical.

I struggled with how/if to write this review, but decided that other clients should hear my…read moreexperience and that Burke's behavior shouldn't be rewarded. I hired Burke to sew my vision for a wedding dress, which she told me she could accomplish inside of my budget. She encouraged me to bring bridal party dresses to her, insisting she could be the seamstress for the whole wedding. I ended up bringing my mom's dress and my reception and rehearsal dinner dresses to her for alterations as well. During our time working together, Burke was unreliable and scattered. She would give ideas or communicate timelines that were never met. For example, I asked her to put pockets in the dress, she agreed, but then did not do so and told me it was impossible when I mentioned it again. When I requested changes to the fit or design she seemed annoyed or like it was an imposition to her. Without discussing it with me, she billed me for twice my original budget just for the ceremony dress. I asked her multiple times for cost estimates on the other dresses and she would not provide them. She would tell me that a certain stage of the project would be complete by our appointment and then either cancel the appointment because she wasn't finished or tell me when I got to the appointment that it wasn't done. During those months I felt extremely stressed because I did not feel confident based on her unreliability that the dress would be finished or that I would like it, and I didn't have the time or money to find a backup plan. This all came to a head when, two weeks before my wedding, she sent my mom's dress home and it fit terribly. She had taken the armholes in, which was not requested, to the point that my mom could not move her arms, the sleeves were two different lengths, and it had been hemmed too short. My mom had to buy another dress, and she texted Burke her concerns about whether my wedding dress would be done on time and done well. When I went to my next appointment, Burke was livid about my mom "questioning her ability as a seamstress". She told me I needed to take my dresses and leave, and she would not let me do so until I paid her in full for everything. She said rude and downright mean things, saying that I was unreasonable, had ridiculous expectations, and that it was too much pressure for her, I wasn't respecting her process, she needed to be done with the project, and it "wasn't her fault I wanted to wear three dresses". She wanted me to pay and leave without trying on the dress. I paid her and left because I didn't know what else to do, and cried all the way home. When I tried it on, it was way too tight, barely zipping with my bust spilling out the top. I had to have last minute alterations done elsewhere to be able to wear it. It was clear that Burke had not actually finished the dress, as well- the lining was only halfway attached and there was boning sticking out. I asked Burke for a small partial refund to cover the alterations costs and she refused. On my wedding day I was devastated because I had spent over 2.5 times what I could afford for a dress that was never finished and only reminded me of the negative experience I had with Burke. For these reasons, though I do believe Burke to be a talented seamstress, I cannot recommend her for bridal alterations or bespoke designs.
