Everything was delicious! Especially, the Sizzling Pork Sisig (my family of nine ordered 2 more after 1 was not enough). We got a 2nd serving of Pakbet Ilokano as well. They don't sell bottled water but they have a filtered water dispenser you must pay with coin pesos to use. All good, I got cold bottled water at a store just a few feet away. That just made more sense for my big family visiting for the first time from America. We were all dripping with sweat from the heat and humidity.

I was in Moalboal for 3 nights and ended up at Veranda Restaurant and Bar a few times. It's located…read moreright along the waterfront with a perfect view. The inside is spacious and there's even a few tables along the beach/water that's hidden when you first walk in. They have TV's showing some sort of sports game. Staff is friendly and the cooks are good. The menu is long with a mix of Filipino and western food; breakfast, sandwiches & toastis, crepes, soup, pasta, pancit, rice dishes, salads, appetizers, sizzlers, meats, seafood, pizza and desserts. - Mango pancake (120 PHP) - Excellent! First pancake I've had in 6 months. Hit the spot with a great fluffy texture. - Chicken BBQ (200 PHP) - this dish takes about 10-15 minutes to cook. You choose from plain rice, garlic rice or French fries. Went with garlic rice which was delicious. The chicken was tender and well worth the wait. They love their sweet sauces here; the chicken is coated in it. - Banana pancake (90 PHP) - fluffy, airy texture with a good amount of bananas. You know it's good when you don't need to add much syrup. - Spanish omelette (150 PHP) - the omelette was excellent; flavourful and creamy. Inside, there was onion, green and red pepper, mushroom and cheese. Well worth a try, especially for their pancakes!

The picture of the nachos on the sign looked amazing. The drinks came out fairly quick and were delicious. Off to a good start .....then it went downhill. It took :50 to get the nachos and what they sat in front of us was not nachos! It looked like it might be a multi-layer dip but it was not even that. When we tasted it, well...it was canned spaghetti sauce, mozzarella cheese and ground beef. We asked the waitress and she said that is their nachos. I let her know it was spaghetti sauce and she told us it was the same... tomato and onion like pico and cheese. We talked to the manager and he said that was the nachos, I told him we expected what was in the picture. He asked where we saw the picture. I said on the large menu board out front. He walks over to it looks at it and with a straight face says that is just an example photo of what nachos look like but that ours was definitely the nachos. We paid and left, went down the street to a restaurant that served what they showed. We would never go back. Not just because what they served but that a manager would ignore their own signage. There are too many good places to eat in Moalboal to waste you time and money here. Best part of the experience was having a story of the worst nachos EVER!

This eatery/ bar is located on the busiest corner in Moalboal so it is almost without a doubt busy…read morearound peak eating times. Seating is in the form of rickety plastic chairs just outside their stall and kitchen. The tables get messy fast but they were diligent about getting them clean for the next guest. During dinner time, they are apt to display "fresh" seafood roadside where you can pick and poke at each fish when you're trying to decide what to eat. The restaurant across the lane also does this, so competition looks intense. Despite initial reservations, the fish DID look freshly caught from that day but can't be sure HOW fresh. It might be reassuring that they don't sit on ice but they do pretty much sit out in the hot and humid night time weather the whole time. Despite this, I still pivoted to a steamed fish when learning that they didn't have one of their dinner entrees for the night (this happens commonly). I did ask for the red snapper but I think she gave me the grouper. I guess I should have just gotten up to pick my own... in any case, I think everyone orders the fish either grilled or steamed (as it appears on the menu), and there's only one steamer and one person grilling, so it did take a minute to get to me. My friend did request to have her fish fried and got hers within 10 minutes, so by the time she was finished, I did just barely get my fish. I did like the extra garnishing of onions and bell peppers. It was simmered in some type of brown sauce which was a little bland and just made the fish soggy. Usually when a place is busy, that's a good sign that the restaurant will have tasty food, but it wasn't exactly the case here.

The food is cooked fresh. You actually pick your seafood before it is cooked, especially the squid and the crab. Nothing feels rushed, and it shows once the plates hit the table. The fried squid was worth waiting for. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, and not greasy. You can tell it was fresh and cooked to order. The crab was the same story: sweet meat, well-seasoned, and not drowned in sauce. We also ordered pancit bihon, scallops with garlic, pork BBQ skewers, and a small cup of rice. The pancit bihon was flavorful and not dry. The scallops were soft and garlicky without being overpowering. The pork BBQ skewers had that classic smoky sweetness and were nicely charred. Service is straightforward and the vibe is casual. This is not fast food. If you come hungry and in a rush, you will get frustrated. If you come expecting fresh, cooked-on-the-spot Filipino food, you will leave happy. This is the kind of place you go to slow down, eat well, and enjoy food that is made properly. Enjoy time with family and talk; it's nice to enjoy your time while waiting for the food.
