Derrell and his helper came by to assess the situation the day after my husband noticed our furnace blowing cold air. It turned out that one of our two furnaces was leaking carbon monoxide ( no bueno!). One furnace was cracked internally, and Derrell used his camera to show us where the cracks were, and to show us how the other furnace was close to malfunctioning the same way. Derrell listed some furnace prices, we discussed our options, and decided to move forward. When he couldn't get our quote to us the first night, he texted to let us know he hadn't forgotten about us, but that the furnace that we planned on was not available. He then worked with us to get an excellent rate on high-quality, high-efficiency furnaces, with an arrangement to work with him in the future on our cooling system in the spring. On the job, his entire crew was friendly, respectful, efficient, and professional. They were even super friendly to our pooch. When they hit a huge challenge with our ancient, stone-walled basement, they worked through it with a can-do attitude and got the job done. They also cleaned up nicely at the end, which is something my husband, a plumber and carpenter, notices a lot of tradespeople don't do here. Clear and timely communication beginning to end. It is refreshing to deal with a company that takes pride in the work and has a high standard of professionalism for its employees. I hate to say that we've encountered a lot of flakiness, and lack of quality and professionalism in the trades here in Pittsburgh, but it's true. Unfortunately, there's too much "that's good enough, I suppose," along with unprofessional employees (enter variety of issues here--complaining, rudeness, loudness, laziness, lack of skills, lewdness...). Thankfully, there's Yelp to help sort the excellent from the not-so-good. Really enjoyed working with these guys. Highly recommend and look forward to having them back in the spring.

We made an appointment for our boiler furnace check up and reset thermostat. We were given an appointment window between 8:00-12:00. It's now after 4:00 and still no one showed! We called them around noon and were told we indeed have an appointment. The worse part for us is that my husband scheduled off for today so we could do something together. Instead we wasted an entire Friday waiting. No calls to apologize or explain. What kind of company does that?! So, at 4:30, the McVay guy showed up. 4 and a half hours past the window time given us! He looked at thermostat, saw it go blank, and informed us we needed a new one at $285! We declined. Turns out, our thermostat needed new batteries. So, not only do they not honor appointment times, they try to sell highly marked up products to people that don't need them. Too bad they can't be honest and punctual, they would get life time customers. We will certainly never use them again.

He was incredibly flexible, allowing us to choose our own thermostats and tailoring his recommendations to fit our needs. He even handled a few unexpected extras at no charge!
