Venice Beach can be grimey but, it's one of the safer and better beaches to ride bikes, mopeds, scooters, skates, skateboarding and other funtivities without being judged when you fall off. Very convenient bike rentals on Venice beach. They have a few locations along the beach and you can return to a different location for an extra $5. The full day rental was $35 which ended up being cheaper than $8/hour at another spot. The bikes were in great condition and the staff was awesome making sure we had the right seat height, air in the tires and knew how to properly work the locks. (Locks and baskets are a flat $3 fee). We spent the day riding up and down the beach and then we easily returned our bikes and were on our way. Support local businesses! read more

Pretty straight forward how it goes down: You sign a waiver, pay for the first hour (assuming you're going to be bicycling for more than an hour) and just come back when you're done to pay for the extra time. My friend and I got mountain bikes and they were fast. One of the employees lowered the seat for me which was great. It was a scenic bike ride from Venice to Santa Monica. We were really lucky it was a beautiful, sunny day out to watch everyone from visitors to vendors along the sidewalks of the beach as we rode along the bike paths. Just be careful because the sand + bike path mix can get slippery and be careful using your phone and biking at the same time. On our return, we came just in time by 7:30pm before the shop had to close. We paid our extra time and we were good to go. Thanks for the amazing rentals! :D read more

Really poor customer service and broken bike. The guy couldn't care any less about us renting the bikes. No enthusiasm at all. Never looked at bike I got. He just said to take it. Well, down the beach we noticed the pedal was broken. I didn't notice it until my sister said that I was driving oddly. We brought it back and I tell him about it (because he never even looked at the bike) and he tells me that I'm going to have to pay for it. Then hands me the rental agreement that says bikes are $500!! I could buy 10 brand new bikes for that amount. Rip off! Not trustworthy people. read more

Awesome and friendly service - 5 stars. At first, I was planning to rent a tandem. However, staff warned me that most of 1st timer had difficulties with tandem. He was nice enough to let us test out before I decided to rent cruiser bikes instead. Rollerblades, mountain bike, cruiser - $9 per hour Tandem - $16 per hour Not the cheapest rates, but convenient location. Rental procedures: You'll need to sign a liability wavier and to deposit driver license + credit / debit card. In the end, staff only charged us a total of $16 (one tandem) instead of $18 (two cruisers). Overall, it was a great experience. P.S. - They closed at 8 PM on Saturday and cash only. read more

Yall screwed up big time. We rented bikes for an hour. Was charged $24, they were brought back on time and we were told everything was good. Then, our card was charged $800!!!! I have rented from several different establishments in the area and this spot seems to be the best in my opinion. It's smooth, easy and the staff are usually pretty cool. Occasionally you may get a defective bike. Take the time to inspect the one you plan on renting. To no fault of Perry's but I've found that people just don't take care of shit that's not theirs. So keep an eye on the brakes, the seat height, the kickstand, the gear shifters, everything. If there's an issue with anything the staff will fix it for you. This last time one of the pedals fell off and we called them and they had a replacement bike brought to us within a few minutes and for the inconvenience, knocked off an entire hour for all 6 of our bikes. I recommend that you wear a reflective vest when riding on the bike path because so many pedestrians violate the rules and cross the bike path without any notice to bicyclists.......also kind of seedy around venice due to homeless and hoodlums. read more

SUPER easy, cheap, fun -- a great way to spend a sunny socal day! We rented bikes for two hours + a lock so we could periodically hop off and wander the beach strip, and it came out to about $12/person.... unreal. Staff was friendly, the entire process of paying and grabbing a bike takes less than five minutes and you're all set. Another great feature of this spot, as opposed to others, is that they have 'outposts' set up all along the stretch of beach-front bike path into Santa Monica, so if you have a bike issue you don't have to shlep yourself and your bike all the way back to the end of Venice. It's location right at the intersection of Venice and the Marina make it perfect for those who can't make up their minds. A friend and I decided to bike instead of going for our usual Sunday morning walk. It was a spur of the moment decision. Rented a bike for the whole day. Prices seemed OK, bike was mediocre. Had to pay 10 in advance and at the end of the rental I had to pay more depending on how long I had used the bike. When I came back they charged my card for the whole amount without refunding the 10 I paid in the beginning (and without taking my card again so I could verify). The owner told me he couldn't refund me immediately but promised to refund to my card later and he gave me his phone number. But when we got to Venice Beach, one of the tandems slipped a sprocket and became un-rideable. We ended up at Venice Beach Rentals and put Craig from Redondo on the phone with Brian in Venice and they worked out a deal to just leave the damaged tandem and take a tandem from Venice and they'd work out the exchange details on their own. Great friendly staff! I had just got done surfing and when I went to unlock my bike to head home, my front tire was completely flat! I went to a bike shop to buy an inner tube but since my bag was going to be left on the beach I only had brought $5 cash and could not afford one.. So I went over to Venice Beach Rentals and the staff member Bryan was so awesome! I explained to him my situation and he had found a spare inner tube some one had left behind and fixed my bike free of charge in less than 5 minutes! Bryan was so cool and friendly as well! I gave him the $5 bucks in the tip jar which was well deserved and got to ride home smoothly instead of walking my board and bike over 4 miles home. I decided to spend my 4th of July at Venice beach with my god daughter. She decided she wanted to rent a bike. After paying 40 bucks for parking and lunch we set out to look for a bike rental shop. Venice beach bike rental was there. The service was great. The bikes are old and crappy. The hour was not long enough to enjoy the ocean. I would have rented it for longer. So upon our return I was given my invoice with a charge of 60 dollars. I was like whatttttt???!!I was told it was corrected and they gave me a receipt with the correction. My bank statement said something else. My bank statement still had the 60 dollar charge. Yelp family sometimes I wonder if this is a scam. We all know Venice beach is a tourist venue. I just wonder how much do they profit for these type of mistakes. I'm sure those who travel abroad can't really correct the error like us locals. I won't say don't rent from here.
