We came back to a cold, wet Manchester and decided to go to Linguine and try and get a table. I walk past this restaurant many times a week and there are always people in it and often very busy. We got there after 6.30pm and was told by the Manager that our table was required by 8pm, after looking at his tablet again, we had to be out by 7.30pm. Not sure how many covers there are but there were only four other tables taken. We sit down, tucked by the bar area and look at the menu. I asked a waiter which wine goes well with seafood and was given an idiots guide to the wine menu. His was Italian and his English wasn't good so I opted for a house white. Our food was served by another waiter as I wasn't sure whether the earlier gentleman was just a barman. We didn't have to wait long for our seafood pasta and pizza. The food came and it tasted very good. Unfortunately, I did not take photos as our service wasn't as friendly as I would have liked. The manager served our food. We ate our tasty food and kept looking around and seeing not many other customers arrive and wondering why he would lie about all the tables being occupied. We were dressed smart/casual for a Saturday night. Sadly, we didn't have any starters or desserts as we were very time conscious which also ruined our experience of the food. We asked for the bill, paid less than 10% tip and went over the road to the local Co-op to buy dessert and walked home feeling disappointed that we felt rushed and would have preferred to have dined in a different restaurant or got takeaway. My main course was the steak which over cooked . We had a good night and the service was excellent My son had a pasta dish and thought it was excellent, my other son destroyed the his pizza so no complaints form him Would I go back? I like the fact that they have split the place into 2 sections so there is now a bar area where you can have a cocktail or glass of wine before your meal. They also offer a small snack menu in the bar if you just want something light and quick to eat. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was good. My calamari was massive and cooked just right. The goats cheese crostini was a big hit with my friend and the bit I sampled melted in the mouth. The seafood pizza hit the spot but having looked at the pasta dishes I wish I'd ordered one of those instead as they looked so fresh and yummy. Anyway it gives me an excuse to go back and try Vida again.

It did. Then to dessert a wobbly plumscious (not a real word I defer to note Sir Ken Dodd's long overdue recent knighthood) blueberry panna cotta. It was lovely with marble sized fresh blueberries set within. Finished off with darn good coffee too. The staff were busy and remained courteous despite the workload. Worth a visit.

Everyone enjoyed their food. I had a superb chicken liver pate to begin with. This used to be one of the big starters was back in the 1970's along with prawn cocktail. It was a good portion and a delightful taste. This was followed by an equally good, well - cooked and beautifully presented moist sea bass fish; I think the bass was on the specials. Every element on my plate was excellent. Dessert became a challenge as we had eaten (and drank) so well on savoury stuff so my wife and I shared a sticky toffee pudding. I'd say this was the best sticky toffee pudding I've eaten in a very long time. Again thumping with flavour while light and a generous portion. Great coffees too. The service was great, friendly and efficient and a good ambience even the pricy beer wouldn't stop me returning in a heartbeat.

We had a craving for pizza and saw on their blackboard outside that they serve their pizzas on a sourdough base so we decided to give them a try. The pizzas are freshly made and came out on a pizza peel. Although I asked for knives and forks we ate the pizza with our hands like everyone else. I ordered prociutto and funghi and my partner ordered capprioccosa. The only disappointment with this is that the toppings were sparingly placed on the pizza. The ambiance of the place is really chilled and it seems great for kids with a kids menu, 4 high chairs and a few dads bought their kids in. The manager was milling around chatting to a table that I didn't realise he worked there until he served us our pizza. Still over priced, but I would like to try the buffet Fridays along with some Prosecco :).

There are specials to be had daily and an Early Bird menu from 5.50-6.45pm which offers any pasta or pizza plus a sweet of the day for just £9.50. The Italian Job opens late on Friday and Saturday when you can dance the night away in the disco with the bar open until 1.30am. Prices are great: £8.50 for a ravishing risotto and the food is freshly prepared with good quality ingredients. It also has a takeaway service, perfect for those days when you can't cook, won't cook. We ordered on Deliveroo at 7:50 pm and the estimated delivery time was 30 - 60 minutes. As the hour approached (the latest the delivery should have been) the app said that the restaurant was still making our order. The app continued to extend the delivery time until we had been waiting two hours and fifteen and the restaurant was due to close. At this point the Deliveroo rider had been waiting at the restaurant for 15 minutes. We were growing increasingly anxious that we wouldn't get our food (that they would cancel the order) and then we wouldn't be able to get food because it was getting so late. The app had no way to contact the restaurant, but said to call the restaurant directly. I tried to call the restaurant multiple times and recieved both line busy messages and had my calls be hung up on. We called repeatedly and repeatedly got no answer. Finally, at 10:25 the rider got our pizza (2.5 hours after we had ordered), but we didn't get to eat until 10:40... A bit frustrating. Like I said, the food is good, but the lack of timeliness, the lack of communication... it was incredibly unprofessional and honestly anxiety inducing. At least have a message on your restaurant number. And if you're SO busy you can't do delivery... don't offer it as an option.
