Vida - delicious pizza

I really enjoyed my recent trip to Vida, I remember the place when it was Da Vinci's and it always…read moreseemed a bit dated and tired then but not now. Vida is a lovely stylish restaurant. I like the fact that they have split the place into 2 sections so there is now a bar area where you can have a cocktail or glass of wine before your meal. They also offer a small snack menu in the bar if you just want something light and quick to eat. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was good. My calamari was massive and cooked just right. The goats cheese crostini was a big hit with my friend and the bit I sampled melted in the mouth. The seafood pizza hit the spot but having looked at the pasta dishes I wish I'd ordered one of those instead as they looked so fresh and yummy. Anyway it gives me an excuse to go back and try Vida again.

It's still as before with great food, great service and good value. I had a superb patè starter with fig style jam and good bread & butter. Really relaxed dining. My Peroni added to my enjoyment. Again the roast beef main course was tasty. And yes it had a fluffy saucer sized Yorkshire pud. I asked for and got Colman's English mustard, the worlds best mustard, to enhance the good beef. It did. Then to dessert a wobbly plumscious (not a real word I defer to note Sir Ken Dodd's long overdue recent knighthood) blueberry panna cotta. It was lovely with marble sized fresh blueberries set within. Finished off with darn good coffee too. The staff were busy and remained courteous despite the workload. Worth a visit.

The Italian Job has been around since the birth of creation, well since 1972 actually and as that…read moreis before I was born it seems like forever. Its longevity in this testy economic climate is proof of its good quality food and exemplary reputation. A mock Tudor style building in the heart of Urmston town centre, the restaurant is easily recognisable and maintains its ties with Italy by flying the flag at its windows. I have been there many times and never cease to tire of its luscious lasagna and its Bistecca Alla Roma ( its own take on surf and turf); sirloin steak cooked in red wine with king prawns. Oh I am hungry now! The atmosphere is truly Italian: white washed walls with dark beams, red and white tablecloths and candlelight. There are two levels but I prefer to eat downstairs as upstairs caters for bigger group bookings with longer tables for parties and can get a little rowdy. Open every weekday from 12-2pm for lunch, dinner time begins at 5.30 until 10pm. There are specials to be had daily and an Early Bird menu from 5.50-6.45pm which offers any pasta or pizza plus a sweet of the day for just £9.50. The Italian Job opens late on Friday and Saturday when you can dance the night away in the disco with the bar open until 1.30am. Prices are great: £8.50 for a ravishing risotto and the food is freshly prepared with good quality ingredients. It also has a takeaway service, perfect for those days when you can't cook, won't cook. This is a true taste of Italy and the locals love it.

Its got a very old fashioned traditional decor italian tricolour with seating over two floors. i have had good and bad meals in here. The spare ribs are great but the pizza is not. Its run by an italian family which is a plus and the staff are friendly. Fine for a relaxed get together and the wine is good but not for a special occasion in my opinion.

They didn't mention a corkage fee and I didn't notice one on the bill, although another reviewer has said it's 10%. We paid just over £35 for burrata, two (huge) pizzas, and tiramisu.

Ok was the pizza and dips delicious? Yes of course. The reason for this bad review was the service…read morethough. We had a horrible service experience via Deliveroo this Thursday. We ordered on Deliveroo at 7:50 pm and the estimated delivery time was 30 - 60 minutes. As the hour approached (the latest the delivery should have been) the app said that the restaurant was still making our order. The app continued to extend the delivery time until we had been waiting two hours and fifteen and the restaurant was due to close. At this point the Deliveroo rider had been waiting at the restaurant for 15 minutes. We were growing increasingly anxious that we wouldn't get our food (that they would cancel the order) and then we wouldn't be able to get food because it was getting so late. The app had no way to contact the restaurant, but said to call the restaurant directly. I tried to call the restaurant multiple times and recieved both line busy messages and had my calls be hung up on. We called repeatedly and repeatedly got no answer. Finally, at 10:25 the rider got our pizza (2.5 hours after we had ordered), but we didn't get to eat until 10:40... A bit frustrating. Like I said, the food is good, but the lack of timeliness, the lack of communication... it was incredibly unprofessional and honestly anxiety inducing. At least have a message on your restaurant number. And if you're SO busy you can't do delivery... don't offer it as an option.
