Enjoy watching the culinary art of cooking while you dine. Reservations are good idea although we did not have any and were directed to sit at the bar. After meeting the manager and the chef we were seated at a table. The chef is from Colombia and is excellent! Everything was delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection, charred exterior from the high heat cast iron sear, the meat was rich and melted in your mouth. Vegetables were tender and succulent. The sauces are tasty and the sweet potato fries had the perfect balance of a sweet savory light coating offering that maximizing crunch and fluffy tender interior. Excellent! Would highly recommend this restaurant.

We had questions about the menu, but finally resorted to ordering off the QR code on the table. My husband and I ordered the Waygu Tomahawk steak, medium rare. It came with grilled veggies that were cold but still the start of the show, flavor wise. Our steak was halfway to transitioning to beef jerky. It was laborious to chew, dry, and far from buttery as one would expect of a $160 cut of Waygu. No one asked us how we were enjoying our meal, beyond having the food dropped off no one even acknowledged we exist. Deeply disappointing.

Touchdown is the downstairs bar in the Rydges Hotel at Sydney Airport. I'm not sure what is more…read moreconfusing: the fact that it is named after an American football term; or the fact that they couldn't make a basic cocktail correctly. (More on that later). The vibe here was laid back sports bar with a focus on beers, wine and simple drinks. Sadly, the beer list was short and standard (Australian macrobrews like VB, Carlton, etc.) The short food list was actually better than I expected, with a selection of apps (wings, meatballs), entrees (burgers, steak, salmon) and desserts. It was certainly enough to suit me, so I ate here for dinner and watched some local sports (continuing my increasing fascination with cricket). My burger and fries were pretty good, and just what I wanted. But after a few mediocre beers I decided to test the bar by ordering something basic. Specifically, I asked for an Old Fashioned (It's a never-ending quest). The young bartender got busy, muddling some fruit, adding sugar and bitters, before finally adding the liquor (which I couldn't see). The result tasted familiar, but strange...REALLY strange. I sipped slowly, but it never got any better. After about 15 minutes, the bartender proudly showed me the single malt scotch he made it with... [Insert Forehead Slap here]. No wonder it tasted strange - This drink is made with Rye or Bourbon only; and what a waste of a single malt! Dear management- you might want to think about training your bartenders to do something more than pour wine and beer.

If you drive, make you go early as it can be difficult to get a parking spot, though the owner informed us of a parking station across the road at a $10 flat rate. It is a great meet up spot for a quick bite to eat if seated at the train, or a dinner with friends near the airport. It is basically the concept of a sushi train, but serving Lebanese cuisine. There are plenty of options on the train, but you can also order hot foods from the grill. You can also have made to order. All seatings come with a basket of pita bread and crispy fried pita bread to be used with the dips. We tried all the dips on offer; including hummus 'lord of the chickpeas' (chickpea with tahini and garlic), baba ghannouj (smoked eggplant with tahini, garlic, and lemon), and labne (strained yoghurt with olive oil). They were all a nice consistency and very tasty. From the cold mezza plates, we tried the 'shanklish' which was a salad; seasoned and served with diced tomato as described by them 'the goods' and it certainly was. We also had the 'arnabeet' - fried cauliflower, always delicious, as was the Haloumi. You can't go wrong with fried anything. These were also a Vegan and Gluten free option. From the warm mezza plate options we tried the sambousek and kibbeh - minced beef in pastry shells with onion and lightly fried. My husband tasted the warn enab; similar to dolmades: vine leaves wrapped around rice, tomato, parsley. As great combination to try with the dips. There are numerous vegetarian and vegan options to try including the falafel (my personal favourite) as well as gluten free selections. From the grill, the Lebanese barbeque, this was cooked hot to serve. It included shwarma chicken served with garlic sauce which was a favourite of my husband. There was also shwarma lamb. The maanet were mini beef sausages, also very tasty. The Kafta was very nice - lamb mince with parsley, onion and garlic. There were more options; which made good accompiaments for the meat including the fattoush which is a tomato salad, tabouli and the kabees pickled vegetables. There are so many choices but we couldn't try them all - so full but my husband did make room for some sweets. He tried the baklava which was very tasty but his favourite was the knafeh - a semolina mixture with melted cheese, crushed pistachio drizzled with orange blossom syrup. A different version to the bearded brothers, but just as tasty. Because the dishes are small plates, it gives you the opportunity to try many things which is great. Will have to definitely come again sometime. There are a wide range of alcoholic choices; wine, beers and cocktails as well as soft drinks and juices. The owner and staff there were very informative and hospitable. He tells us that the food is just as good as his mothers, as many of his guests would agree. Just don't tell their mums ;) A great experience to dine here and we'll definitely be back for a revisit.

So i loved the idea that that its sushi train but with Lebanese food :D!! Place wasn't so busy probably only cause not many people have found out about the place yet. They had heaps of dips, sweets and warm food circling around.. they had 5 different plate prices, dips being the cheapest and meat being the most to pay. Overall the dips, soft & crisp bread, falafel, some sweets and everything else apart from the meat was what was expected.. tasty :). The meat was not bad but not the best tasting. I guess when I've been to other Lebanese Restaurants like Jasmin or Al Aseel you compare every other Lebanese Restaurant to them.. Also when it came to ordering meat dishes of the menu or drinks it was only 1 girl taking those orders down for the whole place.. when you ask any of the other people running around they apologise and point to the 1 girl to ask her to take the order. All in all i loved the Lebanese Train Idea and the extremely friendly staff, I did leave with a full stomach & it ended up costing about the $50 mark or a bit more per person to be well fed.

The bar has plenty of seats and tables to sit at. We came in for drinks and food prior to checking into our room. We decided to go with the biggles, all beef hamburger and steak fries, and also the fried calamari. For drinks, we had local Australian draft beer. The bartender was nice and welcoming and answered any questions we had. The burger and calamari came out fairly quick, and the bell was rung to pick up our order. The burger was juicy and flavorful, and the cheese melted perfectly. The bread was big and beautiful and slightly toasted while the fries were golden brown. They had a condiment pump dispenser pumping out tomato sauce or also know and ketchup with mayonnaise and BBQ sauce. The calamari wasn't the greatest, but the sweet and sour sauce was quite tasty. Overall, it was a great place inside a hotel to have drinks and sit back and relax after a long day in Sydney. The food and customer service were on point, and I'll gladly come here again if ever in the area.
