Convenient location, reasonable pricing for used bikes and repairs. A good neighborhood asset.

Let me start off this review by saying that I don't know much about bikes but I have a very…read moreadorable little bike that got damaged when moving to Virginia. I first went to another bike shop in falls church and the guy looked at my bike and my hubbies bike and quoted us quite a lot of $$$ to get the bike fixed and there would be quite a long wait. After waiting weeks for the bikes - my hubby called the other bike shop and asked for our bikes back. ( they didn't even get to our bikes yet!) . He then called conte's bike shop and they said to bring the bikes in for an assessment. So we did that and the guy at Contes ( I think his name is Jeff) said that our bikes are single speeds and he could fix it right there and then. He pumped the tires, aligned the wheels and did some other things and the bike was ready to go in like 10 minutes. ( both bikes). He didn't even charge us because the fix was so straightforward. He was honest about everything and very knowledgeable. I appreciated that he didn't take advantage of us novice bike owners. If you want an honest assessment of your bike - go here. Don't even bother with anywhere else.

Said no and just want to purchase the two sunglasses. He said I'll be with you in a minute. Then another 5 mins passed. We had an appointment several blocks away and had to leave. Went online to purchase from Tifosi directly. Very busy store. Had a lot of useful items, besides bikes, in it. Listening to the employees, they sounded very knowledgeable. If in the area, may try them again.

My nephew was just a kid and like me, loved having the freedom of a bicycle so I decided to give him my old classic Stumpjumper. Well, my nephew grew up and got a car and one day asked me if I wanted my bike back which I very happily took back. But it had been sitting in the garage for years. I originally took it to two shops in SoCal and they both said around $400. Didn't have time to fix it before moving to Arlington so took my bike with me and took it to another shop in the area and they said $800! I wasn't crazy about that so came here to Big Wheel. The owner looked at my bike and was like, $150-200. I was like, naw my bike needs a lot of work. Why don't you hold on to it and let me know? Well, he fixed it up and charged me $200! All those other shops were going to buy me new wheels. He was like, I took a good look at your wheels and they're old, but you don't need new ones. You can ride those out until they blow. Agreed. He also said he could restore it (my bike was filthy) but what was the point? It's a mountain bike. Agreed. So replaced some cables, a spoke, tightened up all the loose joints, oiled and ready to ride. I rode it to my car from the shop and it rides great! Yep, this is the place.

I really appreciated that they didn't just fix it--they made sure I understood what happened. And the little details made such a difference: they even asked me what kind of music I wanted them to play in the store while they were working on my bike. Such friendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful customer service. I felt really taken care of and will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend Big Wheel!

I popped in almost 8 weeks ago and met with the new owner. Asked him for a recommendation and he steered me towards the least expensive Marin, explaining that is all I'd need as a weekend rider. He was honest that the bikes were on back order and it took far longer than either of us expected, but he kept in touch. Once they were in, I tried a few models and wound up upgrading. The folks that helped me were nice, low pressure, and genuinely wanted to be helpful- whether you're spending a hundred or thousands. Great service, good value and good selection. I prefer this bike shop to others in the area- and it is right off the bike trail. They rent bikes by the day too.

They deserve an extra star for customer service because I had opted to use my own saddle for the 8 day adventure and forgot to take it when I dropped off the bike (doh!). Unfortunately, I had already left town when I realized my error. I contacted them by email and they worked with me to ship it back to my home address. Side note: if you are bike camping the GAP/C&O, you will want to use your own panniers as the ones BWB supplies are too small to accommodate camping gear. You may want to rig your own fender system as well.

Not only did they provide me with some complimentary grease, their veteran team of mechanics were not only extremely patient and friendly with all the customers but were professional and efficient in their skills to complete the task as well as offer explanations on anticipating future issues such as tightening the handbrake cables after a few rides. Despite being around since 1957 and having the business passed down a generation now with over 10 locations in the area, it's nice to see they are not resting on their laurels since the staff very much had a mom/pop sensibility with good mix of older and younger staff and they seem to be very familiar with regular customers chatting with them in a first name basis and asking about other family members, like a neighborhood bartender and his/her regular patrons. I highly recommend Robert, who is sharp as a tack and has even made several YouTube videos posted on troubleshooting bicycle issues at home when he worked with a previous company. Highly recommended for all your biking needs.
