RGM has an excellent reputation as a watchmaker so I knew it was in good hands. After three weeks I received a printed report detailing all the work the watch required and various options for bringing it back to museum quality standards. I found the estimate reasonable and gave them the go-a-head! After 2 months I called to ask about the progress and was told some parts were ordered from Switzerland and it still might take a few more weeks. After another 4 weeks they called to discuss a problem with the repeater mechanism. I gave the go-a-head and a month later the watch was finished. My grandfather's watch has been completely restored, it chimes the hours and minutes with beautiful precision. I am so pleased. It is amazing to think that craftsmanship like this can still be enjoyed for the future generations to admire. Thank you so much RGM for all your skill and patience. He does not rebuild movements, which is certainly his choice. No biggie. The other 3 required batteries/capacitor and were repaired. One of the watches is 28 years old and has needed a battery for years but I neglected it. He got it working with some extra work for the simple cost of a new battery. The solar watch needed a battery and then needed the contacts cleaned. He kept it running to monitor its accuracy and called me when he was satisfied it worked correctly. Certainly, I was bummed to find out 2 watches couldn't be repaired here, but I'm the one who didn't maintain them properly. And I am thankful he got the other 3 watches working. Customer service I have to say was always prompt and courteous.

The clock has never functioned correctly since. unable to wind more than a turn or 2 at best. and then it would stop after a very short period of time (just a few hours) this is an 8 day clock. after a few years of not knowing what to do or who to get to work on it I was able to local another clockmaker. He was more than willing to fix it. I have now been informed that the clock only had oil sprayed on everything and nothing else was done. I was sent pictures of the oil just smeared all over the gears. it is totally disgusting. for what I paid to have this work done I was totally ripped off. If I could put a minus score I would. I would never recommend this business to anyone. if you value your time piece please find another clock maker to do the work.

He pulled the face off and immediately started telling me "This clock needs a lot of work, about $1800 dollars worth." I declined the offer. He poked around for a few minutes, but did not oil the clock, and then charged $150. The clock, which had been running fine, stopped running shortly after he left. When I called and complained, he denied any responsibility. He repeated that the clock needs work about five more times, and said that he would only look at it if I paid for another service call.
