Great restaurant and wonderful services. This restaurant is the must visit when you in Leonread more

If I had one word to describe this place it would be fresh. I was a bit skeptical about this place…read morebecause Leon Guanajuato isn't anywhere near the ocean and I'm generally against buying seafood in places that are land locked; however I couldn't be more wrong about this place because their food was not only delicious but fresh. My first time eating Marlin (Marlyn Vinagreta) and I couldn't believe how delicious it was. It's a combination of sweet and flavorful and resembles the type of fish you'd expect to find in a good sushi restaurant. I also had what they call Shrimp a la Korea (Korean style shrimp) and although it didn't taste anything like Korean food, the shrimp were large and the juice/marinade they're served with are finger licking good. They have a habanero vinaigrette/sauce they place on the table and my mouth still waters at the thought of adding this stuff to each tostada I piled high with fish. If you can stand habanero, I highly recommend it. Pro tip: a tostada isn't a tostada here. If you think you're ordering a single tostada you're mistaken; you're basically ordering enough fish to feed one person and they'll serve that to you in a plate or bowl. The portions are pretty good so don't make the mistake of ordering several things thinking you're just ordering 2-3 tostadas worth of food. I know this review is a bit scattered but I forgot to mention I'm not really a fan of seafood. I went here fully prepared to have crackers and accompany my family while they ate...that's not at all what happened.

This review is about La Mariskeña at Plaza Mayor---…read more La Mariskeña operates on an entirely different level. First, the location. After doing some shopping at the mall, the restaurant is just one minute away--convenient, accessible, and perfect for a spontaneous meal. Even without a reservation, we were seated immediately. The view from inside the restaurant is impressive and adds so much to the experience. Second, the staff. The service is exceptional. The team is attentive, fast, kind, and truly knowledgeable about their menu. Wanting to try something new, I ordered a shrimp cocktail I had never tasted before, La Fiera. After giving it two or three tries, I realized it wasn't for me. I asked our waiter if I could change my order, and he kindly checked with the manager. They happily agreed. Moments later, the manager, Paco--a very likable and friendly man--introduced himself, cleared our table, and even prepared our carajillos. Emiliano, our waiter, was outstanding from start to finish. Third, the food. It is simply out of this world. If it fits within the word "seafood," they probably have it here. We ordered the seafood soup, a traditional shrimp cocktail, and both octopus and fried shrimp. Every dish was superb. A quick warning: their salsas are extremely hot--delicious, but proceed with caution! I highly recommend La Mariskeña and fully intend to visit again in the future.

i've been going to several places trying to find a regular place to go. i was told this is the…read moreplace for seafood in Leon. The place was crowded and there was a soccer game on TV so it seemed a fun place they did spend some money building the patio type sitting area. it has a full shrimp bar up front where you could seat or if with a group seat on the plastic chairs. we where asked if we needed to see the menu or if we knew what we wanted. They gave us a picture manu with some of the options to order but the full menu was on a board by the bar. We ordered 2 micheladas, aguachile shrimp and cocktails. We finally got aguachile shrimp in leon done the right way or at least kind of. the cocktails also where really good with the right amount of shrimp. they drinks where nothing to write home about it was just regular clamato juice, lime and beer i was expecting something better since this place its the top place according to other folks. overall good food but way too expensive for the place i was expecting better for the price its the same prices as in any seafood in the US. the drinks where bad, the plastic chairs make it look cheap, two TVs in the main sitting area where not working one had fuzzy signal the other black stripes across. the food is good but if you are charging this prices you must have better accommodations, bigger portions. overall i think is a good option for seafood but its overpriced.
