I spoke to someone working out the front who directed me to the manager who was more than happy to talk to me about the farm and what they grow there. You can buy vegetables on-site or they also sell their produce at a farmers' market. He was preparing for a meeting at the time but offered to show me around the farm if I was able to come another time. As well as a range of organic vegetables they also have free range eggs and lamb. I have also since found out that Hamlin Farm provides work opportunities for people who have experienced mental illness and assisting their transition into the workforce. Awesome.

I know my household is not the only one who will miss them but they do get mad busy sometimes so I imagine their flash new shop will be worth the wait. The thing I love about this place is mainly the fact that the family that run it are so friendly and hardworking. I also know that anything I buy from here will be good - if it's not perfectly fresh and tasty, they don't sell it. Everyone has had those times with the bad bag of kiwifruit or floury apples or whatever, but if that happened here they would be so embarrassed and no doubt give you your money back. It's that kind of place; they CARE. The pricing is excellent and I've seen them help people carry their stuff to the car, give free pieces of fruit to cute littlies and genuinely be a cornerstone to the Balmoral community - it's like the pub for busy mums; if I haven't seen someone in a while, odds are I will run into them here.

Luckily Village Organics has upped its game and cleaned up the shelves and improved on the freshness of the produce. The shop is located at the end of the 'Main Street' Commerce Street of Frankton Village, where they hold the outdoor busy weekly Frankton Market which has crafts and food. The lines that are stocked in this shop have expanded over the years and you can now buy almost everything available at your local Huckleberry or Harvest but with a dollar or so more added to the price tag. For example the Brinks organic chickens which are $25 at New World Auckland are $30 here. And the Pacific Hazelnut milk I'm addicted to is $6.60 in Auckland but $7.45 here. Considering the extra costs of transport and scale of the business I think the price is worth it! The staff are friendly, they gave me some ground cloves from their kitchen for free as there were none on the shelves. The younger shop workers are always willing to ask their seniors if you have a query. You can get chilled sweet slices and cakes in the small cabinet near the checkouts, check them out next time you visit the Tron.

They also stock a really good range of Asian greens, as well as eggs, spices and nuts, teas, biscuits, and heaps of frozen stuff, from meat and fish to heaps of different kinds of dumplings, berries, and pies. The service is really good, so I can't think of a negative thing to say about it. Except, and this is more of a general comment, what's with people wearing plastic gloves to both weigh and pack the veges, and take the cash?

I like to buy my wraps from here, and they have delicious fresh bagels and paninis for sale too. Also check out the frozen dumplings etc in the cool stores at the front of the shop!

They also stock Asian grocery items like noodles, miso, cookies, drinks, dried fruits, crackers and so on. Other things like Swiss chocolate, honey, Danny's pita bread, coconut butter and fortune cookies can be found here too. There is lots of parking on site too which is great because parking in Newmarket can be a bit of a hassle so if you're passing through give it a go.

I was pleasantly surprised at range of goods they stock for bulk buying. They have have a good section for home brewing too. We checked their pricing against the local "cheapest pricing" mainstream supermarket and they were quite a bit cheaper.
