I know my household is not the only one who will miss them but they do get mad busy sometimes so I imagine their flash new shop will be worth the wait. The thing I love about this place is mainly the fact that the family that run it are so friendly and hardworking. I also know that anything I buy from here will be good - if it's not perfectly fresh and tasty, they don't sell it. Everyone has had those times with the bad bag of kiwifruit or floury apples or whatever, but if that happened here they would be so embarrassed and no doubt give you your money back. It's that kind of place; they CARE. The pricing is excellent and I've seen them help people carry their stuff to the car, give free pieces of fruit to cute littlies and genuinely be a cornerstone to the Balmoral community - it's like the pub for busy mums; if I haven't seen someone in a while, odds are I will run into them here.

But it also got Italian/Mediterranean type stuff like Olives, feta cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, and it also has some really good oils, like Omega mix with Avocado oil and Olive Oil. The prices are super cheap, much lower than you'll find in a supermarket. Yes, the produce is sometimes a little older or less fresh but you can always find what you need and the added bonus is that they have more unusual Asian vegetables like Japanese eggplant, Thai aubergines and a large selection of leafy Asian greens. I spoke to someone working out the front who directed me to the manager who was more than happy to talk to me about the farm and what they grow there. You can buy vegetables on-site or they also sell their produce at a farmers' market. He was preparing for a meeting at the time but offered to show me around the farm if I was able to come another time. As well as a range of organic vegetables they also have free range eggs and lamb. I have also since found out that Hamlin Farm provides work opportunities for people who have experienced mental illness and assisting their transition into the workforce. Awesome.

They also stock Asian grocery items like noodles, miso, cookies, drinks, dried fruits, crackers and so on. Other things like Swiss chocolate, honey, Danny's pita bread, coconut butter and fortune cookies can be found here too. The staff are really polite, the quality of the produce is good and so are the prices. There is lots of parking on site too which is great because parking in Newmarket can be a bit of a hassle so if you're passing through give it a go.

DH Supermarket sell a big range of fruit and veggies so if you are in the area and can't get to another fruit and veggie store it will do the trick. They also have lots of grocery items including an extensive Asian range of products. Another plus for DH Supermarket is that their prices are low. Parking is right outside the big yellow store.

Fruit City is regularly two-thirds to half the price of the supermarket, and the fruit and vege are always fresher and better quality. They have a full range of the aforementioned and often some things in stock that the supermarket doesn't have. They also stock a really good range of Asian greens, as well as eggs, spices and nuts, teas, biscuits, and heaps of frozen stuff, from meat and fish to heaps of different kinds of dumplings, berries, and pies. The service is really good, so I can't think of a negative thing to say about it. Except, and this is more of a general comment, what's with people wearing plastic gloves to both weigh and pack the veges, and take the cash?

(truss tomatoes- the not ripe ones Crack over the next couple of days and mould quickly grows in the cracks and they start leaking...only ones it didn't happen were the 2 ripe ones I bought) ... so I take them back 5 days later when I am able to get out and instead of an apology and a promise to look into the infected tomatoes, I am accused of lying, told I didn't buy them there...where is the receipt to prove it was there shop etc. I took a photo and left the tomatoes on the counter ... almost $12 a kilo ... and left the shop. Something is seriously wrong with the tomatoes they sold me and they need to take responsibility for them.

Lim Chhour's range of vegetarian protein/fake meat took me by surprise - I never knew you could get vegetarian versions of EVERYTHING. More often than not, everything tastes a little bit sweet for my liking, but the range should have something for every vego. I'm also a fan of the super cheap tofu products in the fridge and the masses of chocolate and sweets. I can't say the same for the vegetables, which always look a little worse for wear.

You know how sometimes when you visit a fruit and veggie shop, it all looks a bit tired? Not this place, they are always well presented and the store is laid out well showcasing their extensive range. They do have a car park area accessable off Dominion Road too. It is also on the bus routes that come along Dominion Road. Staff are friendly and fast. Open seven days until 6:30pm, if you haven't been here yet you should check it out!

Why would you come here for your fruit and veges, when you can get all of those at Countdown, plus all the other items you inevitably need to buy? Well firstly because places like this are almost always cheaper, and Fresh Fruit World is no exception. But also, sometimes you just don't want to have to deal with the supermarket. You don't want access to every product under the sun, you just want four items and three of them are vegetables and one of them is bread. You don't want to have to go through the entire supermarket just for that, and that's why Fresh Fruit World is so ideally placed where it is. Also the staff are nice, at least when I've been there.
