They had a small selection from $6.30 to $22.80. I may be all about organic and natural, but I'm no fool - you can keep that $22.80 all to ya self! The staff is well versed in the products they stock, which meant the cashier was helpful when I asked her to recommend a product. Turns out she was familiar with Toms of Main. I wanted something comparable, so she helped me make an informed decision. I was also pleased to see they carry Dr. Bronners soap. If you don't know about Dr. B's magic soap, get some and have your world rocked! Aside from toiletries, they also stock locally grown produce and dairy. Dry goods such as lentils, rice, pasta, teas and coffee are also readily available. Overall a friendly store. Most of the natural or local organic items you may be seeking can be found here.

The lady behind the counter did not go out of her way to help, but was not rude either, just a tad indifferent. I was also super happy to see one of the staples we keep in the fridge that isn't always easy to come by - Braggs all purpose seasoning - very similar to soy sauce but tastes 100 times better, and much healthier. They had several in stock, all 473 ml size selling for $11.16. I am going to have to see the price at my usual retailer, closer to home, for comparison. For those of you who might have Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar as their staple - a lot of people do and for good reason - this store sell the 946 ml bottles for $13.39. A worthy store for the locals.

Organic stores in Auckland have a rich interlinked history I recently discovered, including that this store is also owned by the guys in Grey Lynn, Harvest Whole foods. I admit that I am not around this area enough to call it my local, but I know several people that do. It has a great reputation and for good reason (even if not the 'cheapest' of organic stores). One of the particular draw cards about Huckleberries is that they sell meat, (as opposed to Harvest). This is great for those of us that are still carnivores but like to know about the sources of our animal consumption. And I can buy pork free snags here - yay! Recently I have been on the hunt for some ethical-eco black eyeliner, I noticed on their website that they stock some, which is great as I was almost ready to give up hope for anything local. The black pencil variety cost $31.00, and I will be making a trip there very soon for that indeed! Friendly and knowledgeable staff who don't think you're weird when you don't want a bag, and they have a loyalty card system. Conveniently located near a supermarket, post office, florist... it's a very handy place to stop in and pick up your naturally derived products. There's also a fruit and vege store owned by - I believe - the same people, just around the corner so you can also pick up your produce and free range eggs all in the same trip. Tip: Access/closer parking is easier if you drive in from the Highland Park Drive side, between the two Countdowns. (Yes, two Countdowns. It's ridiculous I know.)

Healthy, natural ingredients and no animal testing was my benchmark. The brands I know and love, (and HealthPost sell online) are Dr Hauschka, Living Nature and Jurilque. Now they only had products from Living Nature in the shop, but they do also stock a range of other brands I was unfamiliar with. Karen Murrell being one of them (great lipsticks discovered!). The shop had a small selection of organic food, lots or supplements, including a children's range and other various tea's and tonic's. Totally worth mentioning that although this is a small retail outlet, they have a very BIG online presence for you to shop to your hearts delight.

This is a great farmers market in Hamilton on Sunday mornings. It's located toward the back of the…read moreClaudelands Arena area. There are a lot of things I love about this place. There is a playground within walking distance, so I can do some browsing an shopping while my husband takes the kids for a run. There are some coffee stands at the market, so you can show up bright and early at 8:00, pick-up a coffee and get to shopping. Some stalls only take cash, so it helps to brings some. But if you've forgotten, there is an EFTPOS cash-out area where you can get some. Many vendors to accept EFTPOS anyway (but I haven't seen any that take credit cards yet). If you haven't had breakfast, you can pick-up some pastries or other morning goodies, a smoothie or some blueberry ice cream (I'm sure it is a healthy breakfast option). In addition to produce, there are also vendors selling cakes/pastries, fresh/smoked fish, pies, and a handful of craft vendors. There are often two musical acts playing (one inside the barn and one outside). So far, my favorite vendor is Soggy Bottom meats. Absolutely hands down some of the best sausages I've ever had. They also have mince, burgers, pies and often, a long line because everyone knows about this local gem. So, bring your reusable grocery bag and head on down!
