Because the products they use are all natural and organic, they have none of the chemicals that regular skincare does, and as such are incredibly gentle on the skin. They have a pretty wide range of commercial organic skincare ranges as well as their own range which as a customer they can actually tailor make for you depending on your skin type etc. it's like your very own skincare recipe that you can go back and make alterations to depending on what exactly your skin needs. Managed to find their ph no, no answer, left multiple messages, no response. After another week I emailed saying I was going to reverse the visa transaction, got a call back within hours. They said they had lost it, they would give me a partial credit for the trouble, and deliver. I didnt like the tone of the caller! Neither hamper or credit arrived. Anyway, lucky me, when I came into the store and spotted the beauty display, the lady behind the counter told me that they just got these babies in. I got first pick! I walked out with a nice nude/light pink polish for $16.90. While I love the Cruelty Free Shop, it's never cheap. I've also been to the Cruelty Free Shop in Melbourne, Australia, which is freaking MASSIVE. Obviously Melbs is a much more vegan-centric city than Auckland, but it was really cool that Auckland is vegan enough to have it's own Cruelty Free Shop, albeit tiny AF. I'll definitely be back to stock up on Vego bars, peanut butter cups, and maybe even splurge on a high quality vegan cheese. Look out for their sales, the day that I went they were selling all vegan cheese for $5.

The Cruelty Free store is such a great idea for vegans and vegetarians committed to never using animal-based products and means they don't have to traipse all over the city to find things like shampoo and deodorant. They have the peace of mind knowing that whatever they buy here is totally legit. For such a tiny store, it's amazing how much they've actually got in here, from home wares to clothing to all the health and beauty products and vitamin pills and more.

In general I find the pieces here to be a mixed bag.. either cool designs from up and coming labels or overpriced basics. Which is a shame because I remember a few years ago thinking that Superette used to stock the coolest stuff, or maybe it was just labels releasing cooler clothes. Now whenever I think of Superette I just think of it as the place where EGGS girls come to buy their party dresses. This place stocks 'unique' stuff for the masses of bunheaded girls who want to spice up their Glassons outfits.

The store isn't huge but you can tell that they've carefully selected everything that is in there and it appears to be up-and-coming brands as opposed to the well-known ones, which I love. They also seem to have a good relationship with all the makers. The lovely lady behind the counter knew about each of them and they've got their business cards on the countertop for you to take home. I spied these two incredible dog portraits, one of a labby and the other a bulldog (?), and being a new doggie mum myself wanted to know if she was based in Auckland and did commission work. The lady informed me that she did and gave me a business card to take home - brilliant!

River is definitely on the more expensive side. But it's here you are paying for quality of the goods. Originally starting in Keri Keri they still have a store up there selling the same fabulous designer clothing. There is plenty of street parking in this area. Just watch out for when it's a clear way, you wouldn't want to miss out on a new dress because you have to pay to get your car out of the pound.

Purchasing from this store feels like much more of an occasion, it feels special because it has a really boutique feel and everything is beautifully displayed. The staff here are really great and they help to create the friendly relaxed environment that this place has, I always feel comfortable talking to them and asking any questions they may have. I don't feel looked down upon here like I sometimes get at designer boutiques. The free street parking makes it very easy to spend a long time in this store as well as all the racks and tables full of absolutely beautiful clothing.

Trade Aid deals with several products, from candles, chocolates and teas, to blankets, jewellery and pillows. You can also purchase stationary and musical instruments, it really is an all out there kind of store. And everything is absolutely authentic, which is wonderful. This particular Trade Aid store is quite on the smaller side of things, but they still offer a lot of great things for purchase, I particularly like their collection of candles and scarves here. The staff are also very friendly here, and are always up for a chat, especially when you ask them about the organisations they help, and the places they've traveled to, to find the goods, it makes for a very interesting story.
