Nobody ever really wants to go have to go to the emergency vet, but my dog ended up with some wounds due to a groundhog and VEG made the experience as positive as possible. They treated him with great care. I felt like they were very efficient and we received immediate attention when we walked through the door. We were in and out of there in about an hour with his wounds taken care of and the mediations he needed. These people take advantage of people's fear and concern for their pets. My mom is on a fixed income and brought her cat in out of concern that he was vomiting. They waited two hours. The cat had X-rays and blood work and was diagnosed with constipation. The bill came to $1400. I am horrified as my dog went to his own vet earlier this week and had the same care for $400!!! This is unethical practice and takes advantage of vulnerable people. Do better. read more

I took my dog there on June 15 took me that long to finally give this review ! my dog was seizing he's never had a seizure since I've had him in the two years They immediately treated him for epilepsy and started meds I asked them to do further testing and think outside the box she just kept saying that's what he had but yet bloodwork was normal from beginning I felt like she blocked me out she didn't give me any hope and all they kept saying was no they wanted to wait til he stopped seizuring which he did . I left cause she said he was stable . After I left I got a text with a pic saying he's better. I called a couple of times to ask questions TO DR CAROLINE FRANKLIN and I felt like I was bothering her . She said the doctor at 12 o'clock would update me they were switching shifts dr ELEANA WINGARD called me at 1 o'clock and she said she was worried about rip I could hear screaming in the background. I asked her what that was. She said he's been doing it for an hr and she was really worried about him and I should come there when I got there my dog was screaming like he was in extreme pain. I asked the nurse what was going on and she said she doesn't know, but she was worried about him. Never gave me an answer as to what was wrong with my dog so instead of seeing him in pain, of course I had to put him down no closure no reason why at all they asked me if I wanted a footprint a piece of paper or clay. I made it clear that I wanted CLAY NEVER GOT A CALL TO SAY IT WAS READY. So I called them to ck on it THEY ASKED ME IF I REPLIED TO A third party EMAIL i SAID NO I DIDN'T GET IT. THEY they then told me what the email was I checked, and I had it they SENT THE EMAIL AT 139am my dog passed 130a so I must of missed it i'm hysterically, crying for my dog and I only had two days to reply. I said what if it went into my spam they said they're sorry they couldn't get me one. It was too late. That was the last thing I had to hold onto my dog's memory thanks but no thanks I will never go back. I'm sick to my stomach and have no closure as to why my dog wasn't so much pain watch out fur baby parents . I should've went with my gut and there's a bunch of kids working there that comfort them but not experienced enough for me to feel safe, bringing ANY of my fur babies back . I'd rather spend extra money to Ocean State. At least I know my dog has a chance . read more

I took my Bella in the middle of the night after an hour of getting sick with vomiting, unfortunately she did not make it she died in the car almost getting there. They girls were so nice and really understood our pain, they put us in a room with our girl,and after gave her back to us in a box so we can burry her nicely decorated. Unfortunately I awoke in the morning to find my daughters cat lying on the floor lifeless,it was a Saturday and this was the only place I could find open.I called,explained everything,I just wanted to be humane and not let the cat suffer as it was when I found him.They said come right in ,I'll alert the staff as to what's going on and your wishes because of the situation,so the pets will not suffer any longer.when we walked in the staff yelled "stat" and ripped the cat right out of my wife's arms and went to a different area off to the side and 8 people were poking him with needles shaving him all over and putting oxygen on him,my wife was traumatized,we were already sad as to what happened to the cat at home.They made it 100 times worse,so much for who I talked to ,informing the staff that I was in need of euthanasia only because of circumstances (he was lifeless and cold when we found him),I said what are you guys doing I called ahead.They said we have to do this,we need to give an IV so we can give euthanasia.Just the way it was handled was awful,instead of yelling stat and the entire place comes running and doing unnecessary things,making everything way worse than it already was.After a $800.00 bill,because they said "there an emergency pet hospital ",that's why it's so much.Do yourself a favor wait for your regular VET!!,or go to where there are actually doctors "Ocean State Veterinary",I should of went there!Because I was seeking euthanasia only and because of the situation,I tried here instead,Big Mistake along with a Big Bill !!!!!!!! These people are amazing! My little Jasmine girl was treated by our regular vet for Hyperthyroidism and we knew that she was declining but she started having seizures after our vet had closed for the day so we took her to VEG. My daughter called ahead and the staff was waiting for us when we arrived. They whisked her away and did everything they could to help her but a blood clot traveled to her brain and there was nothing more that could be done. The doctor and all of the staff were so kind and compassionate. We were able to pet her and talk to her the entire time they were treating her and they let us take as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes. They also entertained my grandson so that we could devote our time to Jasmine. Thank you! read more

I will say this place is brand new and everything is state of the art- but they are OUTRAGEOUS. I am pretty sure that $1800 for them to basically tell me "We don't know what's wrong with your dog either".... Is insane. The staff as AMAZING- The vet was amazing! All the workers here were great. I came on an extremely busy night and I will say I was there for HOURS.... At least 8pm until 12:30/1am. They do have a fridge with snacks/sodas/drinks and coffee (that I didn't see and nobody mentioned until I left)! Which would have been nice- had I saw it... lol All I will say is if you have a lot of money- then this is probably the spot for you to take your pets- because they def took great care of my dog, but if you're on a budget- RUN the other way- because they are extremely EXPENSIVE. They ran fluids and an IV, and maybe took some scans of my tiny dog- but overall they were unable to tell me what had happened. Thankfully my dog's symptoms improved on their own- as the night went on and he was pretty much back to normal after 2-3 days. Going here was a great experience at a bad time. My cat was vomiting every time she ate and didn't have an appetite, and we were worried about a blockage. We brought her here and were treated amazingly, and she was treated like she was special (like she is) and not just a patient or job for them. We were able to be with her the entire time, even while she got x-rays, and we were even offered drinks, coffee, snacks. Everyone was so nice (the people who helped us were Sarah, Ella, Teyahna, and Dr. Carter) and really helped with my and my cat's anxiety in this situation. We brought our dog here, with a broken leg. It was clearly broken when we arrived (front leg dangling at an angle). They proceeded to have us wait there, and took X-rays fully knowing they could not perform the surgery required by such a complex fracture. We were then referred to an emergency surgery center, which required its own X-rays. The staff was very friendly but we feel as though the cost of X-rays was unreasonable when they knew they needed to refer us elsewhere for urgent treatment. First time, thankfully, and last time, definitely. Very expensive for X-rays/meds and understaffed, with the added detriment of us having to pay for the X-rays again at the center who could treat her. read more

Immediate response on phone, no appointment needed, excellent emergency service. My kitty Eva lost her balance when I placed her on the floor and she immediately went into a seizure. I have never seen a cat suffering uncontrollably like this. After she calmed down I placed her on my bed where she did moan with discomfort. After she calmed down I called a few local hospitals but they were out to lunch, could not take my call, or had no doctor available. Then I remembered seeing VEG ER and I called them right away. No appointment needed. I drove a panting kitty in her crate to the ER where they immediately took her and proceeded to prepare her for IV and placed her in the oxygen tank. A chair is provided so that you could be with your pet at all times. They checked her blood pressure, did bloodwork, and allowed me to decide how much further to continue. We came up with a negotiation as to what was only needed at this time only. The amount was very fair and given how much time they spent with her was well worth it. This hospital is unlike any hospital had ever seen. Everyone was kind, compassionate, caring, helpful and good vibes filled the whole room. It was clean and there was much staff available to give my kitty the attention she needed. This is one of the most innovative structure for a hospital I have ever seen. Dr. Carter was amazing. Compassionate both to my cat and myself, understanding our needs and there was never a feeling of being rushed. It was about being there until every question was addressed. I recently had an incredible experience at Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) that truly redefined exceptional care. Our visit was prompted by a bit of an unexpected crisis: my husband had given our daughter a fancy chocolate ballerina figure, and our 5-month-old boxer managed to sneak in and eat two-thirds of it. Needless to say, we were in a panic. Over the course of the 90 minutes or so we were there, the VEG team was nothing short of amazing. They continuously kept us informed and reassured us with their sensitive, smart, and caring approach. Granted it was the late afternoon before a holiday but this place is like a zoo. It was the first time going there - usually go to Ocean State ER. This was closer. Bad decision- Should've stayed with tried and true Ocean State. For basically the same info received from Chat GPT - it cost $400 for barely two minutes of conversation- nothing was done to the dog except hydration fluid. The doctor didn't even take her vitals after being told the dog had bloody diarrhea for 3 days. Outrageously expensive, chaotic and way too many people and animals cramped into one room. Try to make an appointment, and they dont do that, but they also dont mention a mandatory emergency charge, at 4pm while the entire place in empty and every girl there is playing on their phones. 225 for them to check her breathing and squeeze her...no temp check, no ear check, no mouth check, tell me it would be another 775 for bloodwork and nausea pills. My daughter also brought her cat there, where they charged her for every test they could while not coming up with anything. Once she brought her cat to Oceanstate, she was told he was dying and there was nothing to be done, without charging her several thousand dollars because they have your pets life in their hands...Disgusting place, horrific people, terrible business read more

I had to visit VEG this past Tuesday evening and then again Friday to be admitted overnight with my girl Libby. I cannot say enough about how amazing this staff and their treatment is! Every single tech (I don't know all of their names but they were all amazing), nurse (Rachel, Britney, and Lisa) and doctor (Dr. Gieseler, Dr. None and Dr. Wingard), was attentative, compassionate, and went over and beyond consistently. The veterinary on duty QUOTE, says her organs are OK, I don't really see anything wrong, so take her home and if she throws up again, maybe she's has a blockage. My daughter calls today 3/23/25 letting them know that she's no better, they said you can come in for $225 to walk in plus $400 for bloodwork, plus medication. Are they out of their goddamn mind! It'S CRIMINAL!!! For those who think they're great you out of your mind. STAY AWAY! They will take every penny you have without hesitation and keep bringing you back because you LOVE your pet. read more

Very unhappy with the level of care I received from the vet here. I would not recommend going here, and I wouldn't go back. It seemed overall poorly ran, and short handed. I went in because my dog ripped her stitches from a surgery she had a few days prior. We waited three to four hours for staples. My dog was still bleeding when I left, and still is bleeding right now, hours later. I'm not even sure the vet stapled the full length of the incision. I wanted the vet to recheck before we left, I was told by a tech or nurse there was no need, she wasn't actively bleeding. Another told me she didn't feel qualified to make that call and asked the vet to recheck. The look on the vet's face, she said she would recheck then went to another patient. It seemed way too busy for only one vet. How can quality care be given without adequate staffing. After a few more minutes, a third tech/nurse (I'm not sure who the three people were) said he wasn't surprised my dog was still bleeding but unless it was gushing out or bleeding a lot I shouldn't worry. I ended up leaving without the vet rechecking. I understand the more urgent cases get attention first but to wait four hours for poor treatment, and for my dog to be still bleeding is unacceptable care in my opinion. I'll have to make sure I wrote reviews, but I had a great experience with ocean state veterinary last year, the price was the similar to VEG, veterinary urgent care in East providence and petmed urgent care in Warwick were also really good experiences. I will be visiting one of them today. The staff member at VEG that checked me and my dog in was really kind and patient. The fact I left with the same problem I came in with, the wound not being completely closed, and 3 techs/nurses with such varying opinions, not actively bleeding- what's the blood dripping from the wound?, not bleeding out so don't worry, and not qualified to say either way- I completely respect and appreciate that answer.
