I had a unique experience with Blue Pearl when my cat Barney went in for what I thought would be a…read morefairly routine surgery, but ended up being a roller coaster of ups and downs over the course of a week that fortunately ended on a very good note. I can confidently say that all the doctors, nurses, and staff that I have encountered truly care about our pets. I spent hours in the ICU comforting my cat while he was fighting to recover and I saw tears in doctors eyes for other patients & clients; I heard the unfiltered surprise and determination in their voice when they would be called away on (another) emergency, and I felt their professionalism as well as compassion in every interaction. I wish I could name everyone to whom I am eternally grateful for taking care of our sick pets, but I know there were people on my pets' care who I never even met because they were behind the scenes! And I'm just as thankful for them as I am to the doctors and nurses who I did have the pleasure to meet. I trusted them with my pets' lives and I know they did everything they could to keep them healthy, even when circumstances don't always follow the path we'd wish. Thank you to everyone at Blue Pearl, we'd be lost without you!

It was the hardest 48 hours of our life but AEH texted us updates and sent us pictures of our sweet girl. We were also happy that we got to visit her during her stay. The facility itself is state of the art. It is a beautiful place. When you visit, they also have a coffee, tea and water station which is very nice when you are waiting. I have no words to describe how kind, professional and compassionate the staff are. Everyone we came in contact with was soft spoken, polite and understanding. I am convinced you all are real life angels! I could never do what you all do but our family is so thankful for your expertise. We will recommend AEH over and over again. I hope we never have to go back but if we do, it will definitely be AEH!

We can't thank Animal Emergency and Specialty Hospital of Grand Rapids. Our little girl Grace was…read moresuffering Saturday night from a nightmare that was/is still hard to comprehend. I have NOTHING against the home services to help your pet cross over, but they couldn't make it to our home till the following day. We couldn't see our little girl suffer one more hour let alone another day. We'd been up over 12hrs by the time we found you guys online searching for help. If we had known your hospital existed 24/7 our little girl would have been there within a couple of hours of her initial suffering. When we called you explained what to do online to register, call on our way out to let you know our ETA, and had a room ready and waiting for us. The room was off of your lobby area and quite private and comfortable for all of us. You told us many times we could sit with her as long as we wanted. I know we kept apologizing to the staff, but we didn't want her to suffer one minute more. You understood and took her quickly back to ready her for her journey. When you brought her back in wrapped in a fleece blanket; ready for those last few moments with us; again you took the time letting us know the procedure of what was going to happen and what to expect further on. When our baby starting showing signs of stress again; you let us make the final call to help our little one so she didn't suffer anymore. For that we're grateful. Your warmness, kindness, and sincerity will never be forgotten. Thank you for the beautiful experience of letting our last bond be holding her in love; while she crossed the rainbow bridge. Bless your staff! Forever in your debt The Henleys Grace, Mom, & Dad

They removed my google/flagged my review because they know it looks bad for them. We brought our…read more3.5-year-old cat to Byron Center Emergency Vet because she suddenly stopped eating and drinking and was not acting like herself at all. We were there for hours and paid over $1,500-1600, expecting answers or at least a clear plan. They ran bloodwork and said there was no diagnosis. Later they mentioned doing a urinalysis, but this was never clearly explained during the visit, and it was confusing how that was even obtained given her condition and lack of fluids. Well come to find out they did give her fluids, but didn't mention to us at all that they are giving her fluids but everything else they were doing we were told of and the charges for it. At discharge, we were sent home with gabapentin and a dewormer, despite no clear confirmation that worms were present. When I asked during discharge whether worms were actually confirmed, the staff member seemed unsure and said they were "umm just treating her symptomatically." There was no clear explanation, no real guidance, and no next steps laid out for us. Most frustrating of all, our cat has not improved. She is still unwell and has since vomited white foam again, which tells us something was clearly missed or not addressed. This review is not about the money, we would have paid whatever it took if there had been transparency, communication, or answers. Instead, we left feeling dismissed, confused, and helpless, with a very sick pet and no direction. For an emergency veterinary facility, the lack of communication and follow-through was incredibly disappointing. I would not recommend this place to anyone expecting clarity, advocacy, or thorough care for their pet.

I would highly recommend them for superior emergency care for dogs or cats when you know you can't wait to see your vet and your animal needs a doc. Terrible experiences everytime we've gone to this clinic. One dog was misdiagnosed with an "upset…read moretummy" and died 3 hours upon returning home. Another dog last week was given antibiotics for a UTI after waiting 4 hours. A week later, blood was still present in her urine and she had no UTI. We took her to our local VCA clinic where we were told she likely needed emergency surgery for pyometra. Not trusting VCA Emergency to handle any continued care, we took her elsewhere and after extensive bloodwork, tests, ultrasounds and xrays, it turns out she did not need emergency surgery and it was either a cyst or an ovarian remnant missed during the spay (also performed by my local VCA clinic). We are waiting for bloodwork from the lab to confirm. All this testing only cost $1400 at Emergency Veternary Care Center Kalamazoo. Don't go to VCA Emergency unless you want to pay hundreds to thousands of dollars for multiple misdiagnoses on multiple dogs and have one pass at home. Go to EVCC for emergencies. The care was quality and they provide payment plans.

Luna came into the vet lethargic, not being able to walk properly and she also had some tooth pain. we told the vet how she was acting and they brought her back and checked her out. we agreed on doing blood work and that took about 4 hours (that's fine) and we got a call when she was almost done to come back so we did. the receptionist kept telling us the doctor knew we were there and a hour and a half later the doctor brought us back and said "sorry, nobody told me you were here" so not sure wtf was going on there. the doctor told us they gave her pain medicine and checked her vitals and that everything looked good and normal and her bloodwork was normal. they gave us gabapentin for her and sent us home and said she will be lethargic but overall she will be fine. so tell me why, monday, april 13th we take her to another vet who looked at Luna for 5 minutes, noticed Lunas back legs were cold and finally said "yup, it most likely is blood clots" and we had to make a decision. spend 10k on treatment just for her to never be the same again or put her down right then and there. all day sunday we could have spent the entire day with Luna and cuddling her. instead she was stuck in a hospital who truly didn't care about her. if you have any concern for your animal please go to the Southside Animal Hospital. they were amazing
