During our recent visit, I watched your team skillfully and attentively handle a wide range of situations--from a puppy who ate chocolate chip cookies to a dog with a bleeding nail--all while managing more critical cases in the back area. Dr. Ross was wonderful with our 14-year-old dog, who was experiencing "old dog syndrome." Having gone through this with his sister a few months ago, we felt deeply reassured by Dr. Ross's care and left confident that he will be feeling better in a few days. Never I repeat never entrust your dogs care to total vegetables. Incapable and total idiotic raving lunatics. I basically had to explain everything to them myself. Complete imbeciles and self righteous pompous asses. The service was horrific. My dog was ill and they completely neglected him and turned the other cheek. I can't even begin to describe how terrible and nasty they are. Truly the worst vets on Long Island. I repeat the worst!!!!! I waited 2 hours for absolutely nothing. No help from them just simply whatever. Please take your hard earned money elsewhere. These people will take advantage and rob yoy blind. I brought my bulldog in during an emergency situation. The team immediately jumped into action before I even could get the words out. Peaches was there for over 8 hours as the team worked on her. They were so kind, so knowledgeable, and empathetic. Jolene never left her side, the level of care and attention she showed us and Peach makes me cry. Ash, Dr Healy, and every other person we interacted with are truly guardian angels. I don't even have the words to describe my appreciation for being able to take peaches home. We came initially for Barkley when he was hurt badly after a dog sitter's neglect on 2/14/22. Dr. Hacai gave us referrals to Dr. Waters at East bay Vet Clinic. During these years we came initially for ER visits (during off hours) and they were very helpful. You get to go in the back with your dog and they are very good about telling you what is happening. Unfortunately, on 6/23/26 we didn't realize that this was the last time we would have with Barkley. They coordinated and confirmed the diagnosis and that there was nothing left to do. They put us a separate room and gave us all the time to say our goodbyes. They gave us paw prints and a lock of his hair to remember him. The staff have been good to us during our visits and we always knew we could rely on quality emergency care. I've had to bring my small dog in for 2 emergency visits related to seizure activity and had great experiences each time. All the staff were friendly, helpful and good with my dog. Both visits was because it was during off hours hence my primary vet was closed. We were seen quickly and all my questions were answered to my satisfaction. I never felt rushed or stupid for asking questions. My most recent visit, I had to rush my dog in and they saw him right away. I had initially called as I was unsure if his behavior warranted a visit so they had me send a video clip to make sure and they did recommend him to be seen. During his stay, they called to update me on any happenings which thankfully there were none. At discharge, they supplied me with medication and a script to get a little more in case I couldn't get a quick follow up visit with my primary vet. Though it is pricey (each visit I opted for several hours of observation), I expected it but you aren't pressured to do anything. They will print out an estimate and breakdown of what and how much everything would cost. Then as the pawrent, you decide. They have a free private parking lot and 24 hour visiting hours or you can stay with your pet. There's always someone there so I felt confident my furbaby was safe. read more

VEG ER for Pets (Dr. Cohen and others) saved the life of my St. Bernard this past weekend. Most deep chested dog owner dread the thought of their beloved dogs being striken with bloat (GDV) and, unfortunately, this past Sunday, our 7 year old, Rocky, became a victim of this illness, the cause of which is somewhat of a mystery despite years or research. Rocky received immediate, caring, compassionate emergency care that, no doubtedly, saved his life as bloat is a deadly illness. We were welcome to stay with him through the surgery. Over the next couple of days, all of the staff, from the receptionists to the doctors, kept us informed of everything that was happening and how Rocky was doing. He did so well throughout the entire process thanks to the professional acts of everyone at Oath. We were able to visit 24/7, call and ask anything and everything, but, most important, Rocky came home happy and feeling so much better, having survived at an age when many people would have not taken a chance since survival is not always promising. From the moment he got home, you never would have known he had been through so much! The team at VEG has called to check on Rocky and when we needed info to submit with his insurance claim, it was sent right away. We appreciated their care, how friendly and loving they were with my big boy and sympathetic with us. We really , truly love Oath after many emergency visits with so many of our dogs! we tried to adopt two dogs separately. they discouraged and refused because: 1. one was food aggressive, even though we would feed him separately as we always did when we had more than one dog; and 2. the other was because we have a cat. they are both still living in their cages. we offered a warm and loving home to either one. i gave them references, which they never checked. i believe ollie's angels and north shore would be better choices. read more

This veterinary is a scam!! Stay away. I brought my cat in because she couldn't walk or stand and Didn't have appetite. Doctor said she seemed to have back pain without any imaging. Doctor prescribed medication and charged me about 1 thousand dollar. My cat got worse in a week when doctor told me she should be better in a week. When i called they wanted me to come back to reevaluate and charge me more money. It disgusts me to see doctors like this all about money instead of well being of my cat. This animal hospital was absolutely amazing during a sad time for us . We brought our Dog in for a diagnosis as She couldn't even walk. We had Her in a blanket that took 3 of us to lift ( She was 100 pounds!) . They had 5 Techs come out to put Her on a gurney ! The care they displayed and gave Her was just amazing during this difficult time. We were devastated to hear that there wasn't much to do for Her but put Her down . They gave Her chocolates and all the food She wanted as Her final meal ( no loss of appetite at all ! ) . The Vet ( a sweet young Woman) spent a lot of time explaining our options and seemed VERY caring. Made a difficult decision about as good as possible. Everyone was amazing, but kudos especially to Dr. Mcguigan! Not only kind and friendly, but fast, efficient, and super competent. We didn't get a room, so we sat by one of the tables in the main room. It was incredible to watch Dr. Mcguigan juggle each patient expertly and with individualized care. She fielded questions from multiple patients at the same time. I was amazed that she could remain so compassionate and patient despite the clear high stress environment. It's an emergency vet, so it will be expensive, but you get premium care and attention. Such an organized place! I hope I never have to return, but if I ever need to, I absolutely will! read more

Writing this review to warn others, please advocate for your pet. VEG ER in commack has prematurely discharged both of my pets who were admitted here for different reasons - management of HGE and CKD. This place will charge you left and right but will not treat the whole picture, (if an animal has a chronic condition you keep that in mind as you come up with a treatment plan), they didn't. I'm heartbroken to say the least and will never bring any animals to this facility again. Note, new grads aren't the best option when it comes to taking such critically ill animals. read more

I have a ferret who was very lethargic and almost comatose. He is 7 years 5months old so I thought that he might be on his way out. I called the usual vet that we see and was told all vets were in surgery and they wouldn't take emergencies. I called another veg vet in Commack they did not have a vet to see ferrets that day. They recommend the vet in Plainview. They had a Dr Wiggins on duty who dealt with ferrets. She was great we will be using this vet from now on. She was very knowledgeable and spent time with my daughter and I. This was the veg er vet on the lie service rd in plainview. It was only $125 for a visit and if I had brought him in for an emergency it would have been 200. Which is cheap considering that the er vet on sunrise highway wanted 330 for an emergency and didn't have a ferret vet that day. The VEG ER vet in plainview is very clean and did lab work while we waited. We were seen very fast . Phantom is doing extremely well with more energy. I will be using this vet from now on! read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I brought my cat in ~12 days ago. They gave her antibiotics, subcutaneous fluids, and also drew her blood. 1. They prescribed her antibiotics for a 10 day supply. They only gave me enough for 5 days, which I didn't realize at the time. Today I asked them to get the remaining 5 day supply since I paid for it and they were the ones to initially give me the incorrect quantity. They essentially refused because my cat has been "off of this antibiotic" now. 2. The vet told me that they would hold her blood sample for two weeks and can send it to get tested if within that two week period. I call them, about 12 days later, and they tell me the blood sample is no longer viable. Apparently when the vet said "two weeks" she actually meant "5 business days per week, aka 10 days". They tell me that I can bring my cat in again to get another blood sample drawn, but they would have to charge me another ED visit. Mind you, the last visit cost me over $500. As a healthcare professional myself, the way this group handled this situation was extremely inappropriate.. and in my opinion, they value money over pet health. It's such a shame. read more

My 6 yr old cat died after an emergency visit . They misdiagnosed & treated her . Of course after paying in full for visit and tests I was sent home with her , within 24 hrs she was rushed to another 24 hrs clinic and passed away. The devastation of being told she is fine to her passing away is heartbreaking in its self . To then find out this place hires new graduates without proper training & mentorship just made it even worse . I sent her files to 3 other vets who have years of experience all agreed she was not taken care of properly and any well educated vet would / could see the real issue. read more

My dog fell down the stairs and was in really terrible shape, i called to tell them we were coming and as soon as i walked in they grabbed him and attended him with care quickly. He had traumatic brain injury from his fall and i had to bring him a week later for a check up and they were so great i felt more comfortable bringing him back here vs his primary vet. The service here and every single one of the staff from the front to the back is 100/10 amazing, i wish i could give them more than 5 stars. The end of a pet's life can be so emotional and sad. They are a part of your life for so long (but not long enough). My ragdoll Asia had been declining for some time and when I realized she was dying, her usual vet was closed so I called VEG. I told them Asia was going into convulsions and they told me to come right in. When I arrived they sprang into action, got her on a table with a team already assembled to stop the spasms and comfort her. I knew it was her time and gave the go ahead to administer the shot. Beware of these crooks. They lie and pad the bill into the thousands. The majority of your bill most likely will be tests and proceedures that they never did. They do not care about your animals. They only care about making the big bucks with their con game. These so called doctors are first year vets that take risks with your animals. Why would they care about your babies, they get paid whether your fur baby lives or dies. They took me for over 6300.00 (with 3000 of the bill checking blood pressure) and sent me home with a litteral corpes. My pet died that night and was suffering. Then at her own suggestion she told me that she was going to compensate me $$ back to use on my dogs future medical costs because she felt so badly about not following up at all........well no surprise here SHE DID NOT FOLLOW UP ON HER WORD OF GIVING ME BACK ANY $$ AND THAT WAS OVER 3 WEEKS AGO. What kind of a Doctor does that ....What kind of a person does that??? I am going to try and follow up the chain of command but she is the medical director so I am sure I will get no where. Absolutely love this animal hospital and the location in Carle place. If I ever have to take one of my pets to an animal hospital there will be no hesitation in going here. All the doctors and staff members are amazing and I could not thank them enough for saving my 8 year old cat Lacey's life. Lacey was hospitalized on 3/14 in critical condition and released on 3/17 like a new cat. She had a rough 4 days after a severe UTI infection and bladder stones obstructing her urethra. The staff was always attentive with our phone calls and sending us photos/videos of Lacey daily. Lacey still has a long recovery with her infection and another stone but I am so happy to have her home with us. She's happy; playing, eating, purring and cuddling, just how she use to be. This place is amazing. Our 14 year old cat stopped eating and we brought her to this location based on the positive reviews. We were not unrealistic about what was going to happen. The staff brought us right back to an exam room. While we did have to wait about an hour to see the doctor, without an appointment at a walk in emergency location, I didn't find that unreasonable. The doctor examined our cat and gave us our options. The doctor and all staff were compassionate every step of the way. The prognosis was not great and we chose to not have her suffer any longer. As hard as this decision was, they understood and only proceeded when we were ready. We never felt rushed throughout the entire process. We also chose private cremation. I thought it was a little pricey but honestly, it included everything and when we we received her ashes, I was blown away by how nicely it was done. Highly recommend! read more

Absolutely fantastic emergency vet hospital. Set up for your pets comfort in mind. Lots of vets on staff. They were very attentive and thorough. The pets are not taken into some back rooms where they perform procedures without the comfort of the owners being there. Instead it is encouraged to be with our animals the whole time. Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Commack, NY provided unsatisfactory emergency care during my last visit. Dr. Sara Ischinger treated my dog Rami's toe injury, but her negligent and unprofessional treatment led to severe complications. As a result, one toe had to be amputated, and a second toe is currently under treatment by orthopedic surgeons. After reviewing the case, VEG's management refunded their charges. Due to Dr. Ischinger's irresponsible treatment, my dog is now suffering and limited to using three legs, and I have incurred thousands of dollars in additional medical expenses. read more

I am SO glad we decided to take my baby Waffles to VEG. We took her to our vet where on Saturday, she had a 106.1 fever. The vet put her on ice packs and said to go to VEG. Dr.Dan and his team are the best. From the vet techs , the nice receptionist, the overall quality of care, and some snacks for pet parents I was impressed. I was most impressed that they didn't force hospitalization on us, gave us options, and gave a fair estimate cost some of which was refunded. Waffles my cat stayed overnight. They had her on IV meds and her fever eventually came down to 102 around 4 pm Sunday. They explained everything to me so I was informed. The best part is they let you stay with your pet. We went home around 11 pm , I came back at 7 am, then she was discharged at 4 pm. If you have a pet emergency go to VEG. We are so happy we did. read more

Last night we brought our girl Ella to VEG after she ate a lamb bone and vomited several times. She was immediately taken in for xrays which confirmed the bone was lodged in her esophagus. Dr. Brianna Mcguigan and her wonderful staff began to work on Ella to dislodge the bone. After 4 hours of diligent work on our girl with no result in the bone moving, they called in a specialist to help, all to prevent what could have been an extremely invasive surgery and long, difficult recovery for our pet. After another hour of working on her they were able to move the bone into her stomach, avoiding the surgery. We are beyond grateful for their skills and compassion towards Ella as well as our family and cannot express our thanks enough. read more
