Twice in six months we've had to take my pupper in at night. First time was Dr. Mak back in November. This time Dr. Chung was there, then Dr. Miller took over and ran with him through his recovery. Both times there was a full team there--people coordinating, moving fast, staying calm. They explained what was happening without talking down to us. Just focused on getting our dog through it. Extremely knowledgeable and patient-oriented. I'm not great at these reviews but I needed to say it somewhere--they genuinely SAVED HIS LIFE this time. We're grateful doesn't even cover it, but that's the honest version. If you need emergency vet care in Brooklyn, they're the people to call! Approximately 10 years ago, this place was excellent compared to other Vet ERs. But, it seems they have gotten as shady and greedy as others, e.g. VERG. Supposedly, management(?) has changed? My story: I knew my dog was elderly and had some kind of "issue". For $995, they gave him a shot (not a drip) of saline for hydration and standard blood panel. And, this was only after I had paid and was ready to walk out after almost 2 hours of waiting. ( I get that ERs can be busy, But really? As soon as I was leaving, they *sprang* into action.) Then, I was told that my dog had major kidney failure. Ok. 16 y.o. dog. Not surprising. But, he was not that sick. Them: "You can have him put down now for the low fee of $$$$. RIGHT NOW". Huh? My dog is dead--VEG were definitely NOT involved. It was natural and peaceful. I Just asked them to remove me from their mailing list. Response: "We will contact IT and see what we can do." I took my beloved 14 year old cat Benjamin to VEG last night around 11pm. He has never been sick before and I was extremely worried and emotional. I was met with kindness and respect from literally every person working last night including the security guard at the front door. I wish I had gotten everyone's name. I was able to check in online during my Uber ride to hospital and was immediately taken back to the ER. I was brought tissues and a cup of water as Benji's vitals were taken and was quickly assured his vitals were normal. Dr. Cale Toews examined Benji thoroughly and gave me several options for treatment plans and the differing costs of each plan. I did not feel rushed or persuaded towards one plan over another and he made it clear I could ask as many questions as I needed to feel comfortable. Thank you so much Dr. Toews, you were so kind and reassuring. Other thank yous: thank you so much to the woman who greeted Benji, brought me water, and settled me in the ER; thank you so much to the vet tech that administered Benji's fluids and antibiotics; thank you to the tech that took his vitals immediately and reassured me he was stable. PS: I'm surprised at the one star reviews here but recognize that being in an emergency situation with your pet is extremely difficult. While I was there last night a true emergency came in with a cat that didn't make it. The owner was rightfully distressed and defensive and the VEG team took great care in de-escalating while focusing on how to make the cat as comfortable as possible. I was very impressed. read more

First off- Service here was great. My sister called in advance to tell the office my dog had collapsed and was unable to breathe.I drove over with my partner and arrived in about 20 minutes and was seen immediately. They were able to perform a tap to remove fluids from my dog's chest cavity and asked if we wanted to send it out for biopsy. Of course we said yes. We were told to take my dog (Shiba Inu) to a specialist hospital and they were going to send records over. I was also told I would receive a call with information once the biopsy results arrived. We are almost at a two week mark with no information whatsoever. I decided to give them a call and was transferred over to the doctor. She sounded surprised and stated the results had already come in and was wondering why the hospital did not inform me of the results as she thought they would. Are you serious? She referred me to another hospital that has specialists to suit my cat's needs and waived the fee from my visit. She told me to "put that money towards the visit with the specialist." I am so happy that I chose to go to VEG when my dog was having an emergency. As soon as you walk in, you are welcomed in such a warm and calm regard and then immediately brought into the emergency room. It was around 5am and we were acknowledged immediately by the doctor (I am so sorry to have not gotten her name but she was sweet and caring). Dr Cale Toews came in at 6am and immediately took over the care of our dog. He was informative, caring, and walked us through everything. He made sure we were comfortable with all procedures our dog needed and allowed us to make an educated decision on our next steps based on our preference and financial situation. We didn't feel like we were burdening him with our questions or concerns, which is something we greatly appreciated. He and the team then proceeded to take wonderful care of our dog and kept us updated while he was hospitalized. Briana was phenomenal as well, she explained how we should care for our dog as well and how to administer his medicine. Vladimir was so sweet and professional in taking our dogs blood and setting up/administering his IV. I only have great things to say. 10/10 - so thankful for the entire team. We bought my 2 year old puppy to the vet after we found a bug that was stuck on on his body and he was behaving weird. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by staff. The facility was very clean and modern. We completed the paperwork and was put in one of the private rooms. We were able to see the interaction with staff and other customers with their pets. Of course, my crazy puppy is a barker and barked at everyone who passed by. The vet came in and checked out Milo and explained it was a tick (we had pictures). He told us what do buy and how to treat it in the future. He explained the tick shouldn't cause any different behaviors. We were charged a very reasonable fee and, thank goodness and sent on our way. I would return to this emergency site again but pray I don't have to anytime soon. read more

Dr. Guo and his team acted quickly, and was able to stabilize him from a near-death condition. Clearly a talented vet with sharp intuition, he accurately and quickly diagnosed my dog with Addison's disease, a rare condition known as "The Great Pretender", which is often misdiagnosed due to how common the symptoms are. Overnight, Dr. Toews and his team watched over my dog and kept him stable as his vitals improved and his appetite returned. They patiently hand-fed him when he was too weak to reach for the bowl. After he was discharged from the hospital, Dr. Smith and Dr. Grindley answered our calls and provided helpful advice on next steps. Our family was extremely anxious during the two days my dog spent in the emergency room, but the staff was incredibly patient, compassionate, and answered all of our questions. From the receptionists, to the vet techs, nurses, and doctors, the entire team at VEG are five-star professionals and all-round good humans. If I could give a negative 5 review, I would. I am a rescuer and my friend and I rescued a very friendly orange cat 2 nights ago bc someone posted him on FB. We rushed there and managed to get him. He was extremely friendly, but hungry and dirty. We wanted to do the right thing and brought him to VEG (it was after 10pm) to scan for microchip. We had 2 rescues and several individual lined up to adopt him, but wanted to make sure he was not someone's lost pet. A front desk person got the carrier and brought to the back to scan the cat. When she came out, the cat was not with her. She informed us that bc he is microchipped, she can not give him back to us. We were shocked, but trusted the process. We said we are going to wait there till she finds out if the cat has an owner. She tried to call, but there was no answer. We asked when can we find out if the cat has an owner and if one is not found, when can we pick him up. Rayana (spelling?) said that if I leave my information, she will contact me and let me know and if no owner is found, I can come and get the cat. We walked out satisfied although very disappointed. No one called me the next day so I called and inquired about the cat. I was told in a very cold tone of voice that since I surrendered the cat, they are not giving me any information. You can imagine how I felt. I explained numerous times that I never ever agreed to surrender him and had people that wanted to adopt him and we only brought him in to scan for a chip. The woman was very rude and transferred to front desk. A person at a front desk informed me that since I surrendered the cat, there is nothing she can tell me about the animal and to check ACC in several days. I was beside myself and asked to speak to a manager, she refused. Several people called VEG on Ralph ave trying to see how we can get the cat that we rescued from the street back with no luck. They were rude and even yelled at one of the rescuers. We all are devastated and heartbroken and want our cat back. We did not rescue him from the street for him to end up at ACC where he will get sick or worth - put down. He is totally adoptable and super friendly and healthy. Please do not repeat our mistake - do not bring your animal there. They will take them away and you will not be able to follow up or find out what happened to the animal. I definitely wouldn't say that they're terrible, but what I noticed was that apparently some of the young vets may lack experience. I saw 3 different vets in my time there for the same issue, they were all quick to telling me that my pet needed surgery when a different vet elsewhere stated he wasn't convinced surgery was needed. Although they were all very respectful, I can admit that, I was told that they all were not very proficient in reading the x-ray report provided by the radiologist which clearly stated it was not as urgent as they made it seem to be. I ended up not needing to do any procedure on my pet and she is now healthy. Being told that surgery was the only option then ending up not needing it left me very uncertain about the professionals there. BUT nothing personal against them, the nurses, assistants and Vets seemed very respectful and kind, it's just them being very quick to say there's a need for surgery with no other option left me uncertain with the experience of the vets in the facility as a whole. read more

That we understand, what's hurtful is they sent us home said they would call us between 5-6pm to bring our dog back. Still Haven't heard from the flatlands location and it's been 24 hours. We're not faulting them for handling emergencies but no follow up or communication to check the status of our dog is UNACCEPTABLE. Lucky for us our dog turned out to be ok. On Friday, 10/10/25, around 2:40 pm, I frantically rushed my 8 1/2 year old dog into VEG ER on Ralph Avenue and from the second the receptionist saw me coming through the door, she immediately called the team to rush to my dog. He was barely breathing. Their team began working on him right away and would not stop until I told them to. Unfortunately, my dog passed away. The vets and the entire team were so attentive and so compassionate. This is one of the hardest and worst experiences to go through and they somehow made me feel some sort of comfort. They allowed me to stay with him for as long as I wanted to and the receptionist stayed with me to talk me through the aftercare wishes. I truly wish that the outcome was different but I have to say that they really are a great team there. Thank you again to all of you who tried your best to save my little pup. I went late night this week with a blocked cat and was greeted by such a friendly staff. Dr Molly Carter is the sweetest and very down to earth. Did not scare or pressure me at all. The price was reasonable and the staff all went the extra mile. There was a young lady in red doing the procedure and I saw her do extra flushes of his bladder just to be safe. There also was a young guy with a hat whose name I can't remember who answered all my questions and was just so sweet about it. It was also really cool how it's an open concept and I got to stay with my pet the whole time and watch every step to see what they had to do to make sure he was good. They were playing really good music and asked if I wanted them to turn it down just to gauge sensitivity and make sure I was ok. I just really appreciated the whole visit, they treated the security guard like gold and she was also extremely nice. They were obviously trying to milk every last penny out of us for tests. We ended up taking her home and arranging a home euthanasia. Over $5,000 and they would tell us what could be the cause or give us closure. We did not go through this at Animal Kind when our other cat had cancer. I didn't look at reviews before taking my cat here. She had intense dental surgery the day before and when I woke up she had a ton of blood and fluid in her cone. I panicked thinking she burst her sutures. They were super kind and patient and it didn't seem like a money grab in a way that most emergency places are. I really appreciated the young Black female vets approach and bedside manner. They cleaned up my cat and gave her a much better cone and gave me sound advice regarding next steps. Let me start off with saying that this place will forever have my gratitude. My parents had an emergency with their dog, Sammy, and unfortunately their English isn't the best. I had to try to translate and handle everything for them from over 1,000 miles away and everyone, ranging from the front desk to the anesthesiologist to the vet tech to the doctors themselves have made the entire situation much easier for me and for my family during a time when there was a lot of uncertainty and everyone was losing their minds. I am super thankful to Dr.K who performed Sammy's urethral unblocking the first time, a special thank you to Vadym (Vadim?) the anesthesiologist during both procedures for his attentiveness and care and the way he explained everything to my parents thoroughly even though they kept accidentally calling him the wrong name the entire time (sorry Vadim) , another big thank you to Darnell at the front desk because he had gone above and beyond to keep me and my parents informed of everything and last but not least, the biggest thank you to Dr.Cha for being a literal Angel! She explained EVERYTHING to me in detail and left no question unanswered between me and my parents. She kept me updated throughout the entire situation and the incisions are immaculate! Everyone at the emergency hospital took amazing care of Sammy and saved my parents dogs life. I will forever rave about the experience that we all had with this emergency clinic. My mother also said that the first time they brought him there, it was pouring rain and the moment that the staff saw someone running through the rain holding something folded in a towel, they all ran to the doors to open them and get my parents and their sick dog inside. I can not express the gratitude I feel towards the doctors and staff at Veg. I brought my senior cat to veg because he was experiencing severe issues with breathing. I have never been there before, but from the time we arrived they immediately rushed him into the examining room and began to exam him all the whole showing me and my cat such compassion and understanding, answered all my questions. The doctor determined that there was nothing to do for him because his heart rate was decreasing due to fluid in his body. The doctor explained that because he had so much fluid in his body that even if they drained the fluid from his body, the likelihood that he will still pass away. Although I had to make that difficult decision to put him to sleep, the sincere compassion they showed me made that decision a little less traumatic. They allowedvme to spend as much time I needed to be able to say goodbye to him. When he finally crossed the rainbow bridge their compassion did not end there, their concern for me was so overwhelming and the reassurance they gave me that he was not suffering anymore meant the world to me. I only wish that I could have done more to save my furbaby, but it was his time. I will forever be grateful for VEG. In my opinion they are angels and would recommend them to anybody that has fur babies. Thank you VEG you have impacted my life forever even though it was brief and full of saddness. I had no choice as I was out of town. upon looking at the bill and reviewing the fees every medication including the dog cone were priced at FOUR times the cost of chewy. If there r so many locations why is there such an astronomical upcharge. Powder for wound is $30 at chewy at VEG it was $118. Pills that aren$3 each on chewy were $10 each at VEG. the cone on chewy is $6 and $26 at VEG. In other words a minimum of $250 could've been reduced from bill. My first experience with veg was several years ago when they were on flatbush ave. Dr yablonovich and a doctor from texas really worked to get my dog well. I had one more experience after that wasn't to rewarding. Fast forward to last week. My cat wasn't eating and after three and a half days i thought i should bring her in. Vet told me the lab work was good and there were some xray findings. It took three days for them to send me a copy of the lab work at which time i saw that the cat had "0" lymphocytes and basophils. The cat died that day and the lab work was inconsequential, however what is wrong with this man. This scares me and makes me think about not going here again for anything. I was threatened that if I took cat home, they would have to report me to ASPCA. I literally have nothing to hide from the ASPCA. All my pets and rescues are well taken care of. I brought my Shit tzu in for examination. She was not eating and had lost a tremendous amount of weight. They ran a complete blood panel, Doppler and ex-rays - the entire works. The results were that my dog was in pretty good health considering her age (she was 17 years old.) I asked why is she not eating or drinking; they replied that she had a swollen lymph node and that can be a contributing factor. The doctor informed me that the lymph node can be reduce with medication that he prescribed along with an apatite stimulator and antibiotics for the infection. All together, they charged me $1,997.00 for the service. Not only did my dog NOT respond to he medication, but within 3 days I called back to speak with the same doctor who told me to bring her back in. In the end, it was noted that her lymph node not only did not respond to the medication, but got larger within the 3 days after they saw her. My dog had a grand mal seizure and had to be "put down". In spite of paying $1,997.00 three days prior, those bastards had the gall to charge me $500. to euthanize my dog. People, VEG is all about making monies. They catch you at your most vulnerable moment and stick it to you; with incorrect diagnosis and exorbitant prices. Please, Please go elsewhere for your pet medical services.
