You'd never expect to find this cool art gallery tucked between a chik-fil-a and Walmart just off of Hawthorne Blvd in Torrance. I've been to two of their exhibits so far and they've curated a really cool combination of artwork from artists of various backgrounds. I appreciate the owner's vision to bring art to the South Bay.

I've been a professional fine artist for over 20 years, and Visual Experience Fine Art (VEFA) is truly state of the art. They curate and celebrate a wide range of artists, and the gallery space itself is exceptional, beautifully designed, and thoughtfully laid out. On top of that, they throw some of the best receptions around, No joke. You can visit anytime, but don't miss the opening receptions for their shows. They're always memorable.

    Great art

VEFA gallery instillations and exhibitions are the best in the country!! They bring artists from all over the world who share the beauty of their surroundings and mind's eye through creative creations that leave an indelible impression and you can't help but take home! However it is the extended Anderson family and VEFA team members who bring the soul to these extraordinary pieces to life. Speaking of team... VEFA's diverse crew is as unique as the collections themselves. Engaging the much sought after and esteemed curator, Delia Cabral of Brighton, UK, VEFA gallery has leapt from its humble beginnings as a family dream and positioned themselves to become THE BEST GALLERY IN THE WORLD!! And we are so fortunate to join them on that journey. Thank you VEFA, for filling my walls with incredibly unique and amazing art, but more so, for filling my heart with the kind of joy that emanates, resonates, and reverberates to everyone I have the pleasure of meeting. Your kindness is changing the world beyond the sensory!! You are positively impacting the hearts and minds of people we have yet to and may never meet! Thank you for your perseverance!! Cheers! Salud! Aloha!!

Dan is a fishing expert with over 50 years of experience fishing the California & Mexican coast. He also founded the Dan Hernandez Youth Foundation over 18 years ago, in an effort to promote & spread the joy & love of fishing to the next generation. Besides TV taping fishing charters, he also provides private charters on his 31' Tiara Express boat, the "Mi Sueno". Specializing in 1/2 & 3/4 day charters, the trips target local reefs, structure & Catalina Island. Occupancy is limited to just 4 anglers (3 minimum needed), and all bait, tackle & fishing equipment are provided. Anglers just need to bring their fishing license, food/drink, proper layering of clothing, camera & a good attitude. Normally, Dan offers a 50% discount on open party trips in the spring. However, due to the lockdown & subsequent reopening phases, he also offered discounted trips this summer. Not having fished for many years, and the shutdown making me stir crazy, I secured my spot on a trip & was eager to hook into fish. We started the day fishing by the Catalina Sea Ranch mussel farm. The target was yellowtail, the most sought after gamefish in SoCal. My goal this year is to catch my first ever yellowtail, but alas, they weren't biting. Dan then brought us to Izor's Reef. On my first cast with a lively sardine, I instantly hooked a well beyond legal barracuda. From there, it was wide open on calico bass. They were so thick, the bass would congregate by the boat. Just drop a baited hook, and it would be fish on. I even managed to land a big, toad calico bass. It had some shoulders on her, and I had a blast landing it. Limiting out on calicos, our catch was filleted on our way back from the 1/2 day trip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2890uz3YNwE&t=0s Pro tip - I strongly suggest consuming ginger/motion sickness meds prior to boarding, for those w/o sea legs. During our trip, swells were around 4-5 feet. I almost got seasick, which quickly dissipated once I starting catching fish. Dan Hernandez also offers bay, harbor & Catalina Island cruises, for those looking something other than fishing. Parking is adjacent to Shoreline Village, in which Dan will provide a parking pass for the day. Service from Dan & his deckhand, Richard, was exceptional. I'm hooked on fishing, again! Dan put us on the fish & we muscled them on in. I was fortunate to land the biggest barracuda & calico bass of the trip. He provides everything needed, including a lifetime of knowledge, to ensure a successful fishing adventure. I'll be booking again, soon. Highly recommend!

Porsche pointed out the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Hollywood that she attended. She gave us pointers on how to shop at farmers' markets and buying produce and allowed us a few minutes of free time to shop on our own. Once back at EATZ, where Porsche is also a cooking instructor, we had Mimosas and snacked on baguette slices and very fresh goat cheese in olive oil that she purchased from the market. We began with the panne cotta - yes, life is uncertain, start with the dessert!! This dish needed time to set. We prepared the fresh beautiful strawberries for the dessert as well. Each team of 2 had their own cooking station and burner. Just perfect for all of us. We made the pasta with basil and set it aside to soften. We worked on the roasted tomatoes with garlic and then the stuffed mushrooms with spinach, shallots, garlic and cream cheese, sprinkled with bread crumbs. We began the meat sauce and when the roasted tomatoes were ready, Porsche pulsated them in a food processor and added it to our meat sauce. Our workout began as we rolled out our pasta. Yes, that was definitely a workout, but so rewarding. We all got the technique down. We learned the correct thickness of the pasta and how to cut and separate them before cooking. Definitely a good appreciation for handmade pasta!! We were then treated to a delicious meal of our own creation!! Devine!! Porsche will be emailing all the recipes after the class. My daughter and I highly recommend take a great afternoon with Porsche and taking her class. She has several menus to select from and we will definitely return in the future!! I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised. This tour was full of great information about San Pedro and fantastic food. Chef Porsche was very knowledgable and suggested of other places to visit besides the stops on our tour. The tour included 5 stops and it covered burgers, cuban food, fish and chips, bake goods and a stop at a tea house. Our tour started off at Bunz Gourmet Burgers ( small mom and pops shop) fantastic burger. Will have to come back for more. We went to Cuban restaurant called Punto Cubano with great character and decor. There we had a cuban sandwich that was amazing. Obviously there's other stuff in the menu that you are more than welcome to order at your own cost. We had a delicious flan :-) we had a few stops in between and learned about the San Pedro Port history and other spots. We then hit The Whale and Ale (English pub) for some delicious fish and chips. Alcohol not included in the tour but available for purchase. I couldn't help myself so I had a guinness. We then went over to Hojas for some delicious chai tea that hit the right spot. Hard to pick a favorite as everything was very very good, and if I may add the food portions are just right. Enough to leave you stuffed. Overall the tour was fantastic. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for something new and fun to do. It supports local businesses and is something that you can do on a date, with family, friends or even Solo. You'll meet great people on the tour. I look forward to future tours from Chef Porsche. Thank you Porsche for introducing me to a new are in San Pedro that I would've not know about on my own but will definitely be visiting again soon.
