Opened Saturdays only 12p-3p. This is such a cool spot to visit while in Venice. Allow yourself at least 30 mins to an hour. There are areas where you can sit and just enjoy the breeze and the art so spending more time wouldn't be an issue. It's very well-maintained. Reservations are required online, but I don't think it would be a huge issue if you just showed up and paid up the door. I guess that would depend on how busy it is that particular day. But definitely make reservations in advance if you can, but if you just happen to be in the area and want to stop by, it wouldn't hurt to just pull up. $20 adults, $15 seniors, free ages 12 under 90+ Read and learn about the artists behind the work, they have quite an interesting story. A friend saw this, probably on Tik Tok, and immediately knew that this is what she wanted to do for her birthday. So she emailed and made a reservation for us. Parking is in a residential neighborhood so be mindful of that. Entry fee is $20. Cash preferred but they do accept Venmo. I can understand how the price can seem steep for people needing to pay for a family. There ended up being a group of 8 of us and we ended up spending at least an hour and a half there. Possibly even more time. So many different picture opportunities and we were blessed with a beautiful sunny southern California day while we were there. The artist was on site while we were there and I made sure to thank him for sharing his beautiful works of art with us. The girl at the front gate was very friendly and happy to share the different payment options. There was artwork around every corner and even in the bathroom. I immediately booked the first available showing, for Saturday 22, 2025 at 12:15 pm We arrived at the mosaic tile house an ugly house turned into art per Cheri Pann & Gonzalo Duran. Upon entering the gate Cheri greeted us, we exchanged payment cash is always better. $20.00 for adults $15.00 seniors 12 and under and over 90 your free. There were many photo opps. Along with many honey do lists for Gonzalo from Cheri you will find throughout the entire house on tiles here and there. We were lucky enough to visit in February of 2025. 4 of us sat on the iconic bench inspired by the original in Barcelona Spain. We were able to stay at the Gaudi Hotel in Barcelona and recreate the original bench picture minus one. We all felt her presence in Barcelona. Amazing gem of a place! The website tells you all you need to know about the artists, their vision, the history, etc, so this review is less about what you can find on the website and more about our very personal experience. We found this place on a blog while searching for 'off the beaten track' spots to visit in LA. Seeing that opportunities to visit were limited to a few slots on Saturdays only, and that reservations were required, I immediately sent an email to Cheri and Gonzalo, the artists/home owners, and expressed our great desire to see their Mosaic Tile House. Cheri immediately emailed me back and over the course of a week we exchanged more emails, Gonzalo got in on the messages, we shared some photos and developed a friendly rapport. Reservations were set, and my hubs and I, also both artists, were really looking forward to our visit. On the day of our reservation, we drove over to the house early to get a feel for the location and figure out parking. Turns out this amazing house is smack dab in the middle of a typical residential street with plenty of free street parking! We parked and decided to take a peek into their garden through the mosaicked gate, and we happened to see Cheri and her friend who helps orient visitors. We said hello through the gate, let them know we'd be back for our 2 pm slot, and they invited us to come in already if we wanted! We declined because we didn't want to impose, and our reservation included our niece who wasn't free until 2, but we left even more excited! We returned at 2, met Cheri again at the entrance, talked to her friend (we'll call her 'the docent'), and received our copy of all the cool things to watch out for on the property, including the best spots for Instagram pics! The place was already buzzing with lots of other visitors, but it did not feel overly crowded. The 'docent' then took our photo on a mosaicked bench under their pineapple guava tree. So nice! We started walking around and it was mesmerizing! So much color, so many hand-painted tiles interspersed with broken bits of teacups and teapots, ceramic animals and mirror, all mosaicked into sculptures, rainbows, visual narratives. Lots of humor and arrangements that bring a smile. Whimsy, a Wonderland theme, cleverly laid shards of mirror making new mirrors....I cannot be more effusive when I say it was truly fabulous!! While walking around, we ran into Gonzalo, and when my hubby engaged him in a conversation about how all the tile was set, I told him I had emailed a few weeks prior about our visit, and before I even finished, he exclaimed 'Are you Jen?!' and we immediately spontaneously hugged! He then took a photo of the 3 of us next to a special 'hidden' tile, essentially making us part of the Mosaic Tile House! In all, we were there roughly 1.5 hrs. We felt the $20 pp was perfectly reasonable to gain entry into the private home of artists who are not part of any larger organization (i.e. they are not supported or subsidized by the city or state, are not part of a gallery or museum), and we had access to both Cheri and Gonzalo to talk first hand about their art, methods and inspiration. To the other yelpers who felt this experience was "expensive", I'm sorry to say your comments are frankly disrespectful to artists, who deserve to make money off their art - this is their livelihood! And to the yelpers who complained that Cheri and Gonzalo were "rude", again, I urge you to consider that you were literally inside their private living space, enjoying a privilege, and it was more likely YOU who was rude. To those of you reading my review, please visit Cheri and Gonzalo, support them as artists and shop in the gift shop. Maybe even have a word with them as PEOPLE. They are truly lovely humans, so inspirational, and I for one am truly grateful for the generosity of artists like this who let the paying public have a glimpse at their life's work! read more

Nestled in the middle of a quiet Venice neighborhood, the Mosaic Tile House owned by Cheri Pann and Gonzalo Duran is a visual wonder.  Since 1994, the artists have been working on the house to make it what is today, a true feast for the eyes. You can visit on most Saturdays from 12pm-3pm with a reservation.   We spent a good hour touring around and inside the house this past weekend.  Our reservations were for noon and we were two of the first visitors for the day.  Ms Pann greeted us at the gate, checked us in, and then her assistant Shannon gave us an introduction to the property with background on the house and an information sheet.  Mr. Duran was on property, as well, manning the gift shop and also wandering around to greet visitors.  He even took a picture of us with my phone in a spot that I'm sure he takes of guests often; it's a very cool perspective.   As for the artistry of the house, there is so much to see!  Stained glass, coffee mugs, pots and pans, wine bottles, mirrors, and more are used to create the mosaic in and around the house.  I loved the homage to Alice in Wonderland as well as the Mexican kitchen in the house.  The tiles with funny sayings around the property by Mr. Duran are awesome.  Be sure you stop in the gift shop and purchase something for your own home; we got a tile for our kitchen. This is definitely a unique home and we loved our visit. I highly recommend visiting Venice to experience the artistry for yourselves. read more

Today was my first time visiting Cheri and Gonzalo's 28 year, and counting, labor of love and I'm glad I finally was able to see it up close. I have been driving by it for years so I was very pleased to learn they offer self guided tours of the grounds for $20. Cheri greeted us at the front gate and was very polite and informative. She gave us a rundown of the history of the property and specific things to look out for. It was also nice seeing their own works of art in the studios in the back of the house. Come check out the mosaic tile house in Venice, CA. You have to email them reservations but they email immediately. We emailed them 2 am the same day and they replied within 20 min. They ask you a time slot you would like to take from 12-3 pm only on Saturdays. I saw if it's 2 people and you don't have reservations then they let you in. The cost is $20. They took only Venmo, zelle or cash. This is a great date or family activity. There were so many photo spots, which they give you a guide. They have guides in Spanish and Chinese too. The couple, Cheri and Gonzalo started the mosaic tile house in March 1994 and are continuing to add on still to this day. They wanted to turn this ugly house into a pretty house. You can leave ceramic items in front of their house so they can add it to their collection. In the front yard, you can see a fortune cookie and love tub. There's also a giraffe and barefoot panda. Then, on the side of the house, is Alice in Wonderland and butterfly wings. Next, you get to see Cheri's & Gonzalo's studio. Lastly, inside the house, there is a gift shop. We got to meet both Cheri and Gonzalo's. They are super nice and friendly. Gonzalo's helped take photos. Expect to spend about a hr here. Even more as there is so much details in this house. A reservation is a must to visit this house since it's only open to the public on Saturdays (it's better to check their website for the dates because some Saturdays are not available). The street parking is easy. I was there 10 minutes before they opened, and I parked in front of their house. The entrance fee is $20 and free for ages eight and below. They accept credit cards, but it's better to pay cash. During my visit, they have an issue with their machine, which can delay your entrance. The house owner is amiable and will allow you to take photos inside and outside their house. I even have pictures of both of them. It took us over an hour (1:10 minutes) to see their home and take photos. Overall, it's a fun experience visiting their house. I highly recommend visiting it. read more

Communication with Gonzalo and Sherri was a breeze and are accommodating with times and cancelations. You park on the street and are greeted by Gonzalo and Sherri themselves. Sadly, due to COVID-19, they do not allow guests to enter the house or visit their gift shop. You only roam the exterior of the property. It took about 20 minutes to explore the place. The way the tiles and Knick knacks are placed are very intriguing. I enjoyed taking the time to explore and appreciate their art. I really enjoyed my visit here, but I think $20 is a bit steep for admission. I think no more than $15 would be decent. I do recommend visiting this place because it truly is unique. read more

I saw the picture of this place online and was blown away by the beautiful colors and patterns. You need to email the artists for a reservation, but the entrance fee is only $20/person. The artists Cheri & Gonzalo have been working on this house since 1994. This exhibit is a feast for the eyes. Suddenly being hit with so much beauty all at once can almost be overwhelming. Bring your camera because there are countless spots to take photos (I took 545). The house is set in an otherwise lovely California neighborhood. The stained glass an tiles are seen in everything from the fence to the doors on the house. The complete exterior (both sides of the house and the front) take you into a trippy kaleidoscope of patterns and tile collage where you can pick out themes from Alice in Wonderland, Dragons, a huge caterpillar and a giant fortune cookie to name a few. The gift shop is equally as impressive where Gonzalo demonstrates some of his mechanical art. This trip was truly a delight and well worth the hour long drive! Visit on a clear day to get the most of the light reflecting off the stained glass. Take your time going through it or you are bound to miss something wonderful. read more

This place is Gem, I discovered through someone I know went there. The owner spent 25 years to create this spectacular unique mosaic house. The owner Gonzalo is a very artistic, he designed the layout of the entire house. Using different objects to decorate the house. He has uncountable broken pieces of tiles and glued it on the wall. We wondered how it had made it past city zoning, what the neighbors think, and what the story might be? Gonzalo gave me an amazing tour of his house, he and his wife Cheri own the house since 1994 and put so much love into their art work. The admission is $20 but so worth it. This incredible home and art studio is open on most Saturdays by appointment only. You can tour the front yard and sides of the home and when you open the front door you can enter a small area which acts as a gift shop with a view of the kitchen. Entry fee is $20 per person. The tiles and art pieces are incredibly crafted and laid out all over. It's almost impossible to take in every detail, there is just so much to look at. It's owned by the loveliest couple. read more

Two artists live there and have spent years and years covering almost every inch of the house inside and out with broken tiles- cups- mugs- piggy banks- wine bottles- you name it if it's glass or ceramic they have used it to cover and create a masterpiece. My husband wasn't keen on the appointment in the middle of Saturday to see this place. It's only open Saturday from 1-4 pm. BUT once we got inside his jaw dropped and his said great job finding this place it's unbelievable. For u Instagram types this is for you. Great pictures but they can't do it justice. What a lovely experience thanks to owners, Gonzalo and Cheri. My sister was visiting last month and found this house through Pinterest. We decided to check it out and I'm so glad we did. They open their home to visitors on Saturday afternoons- you can pay cash or card at gate for $15 per person. Gonzalo gave us a nice tour of the house and some history of how they started this work of art. It's crazy to think it's a functioning home because it's kept so clean, like a museum. He took us back into the workshop and showed us how they sketch out their ideas before they start making the tiles. I loved the outside the most- they turned their entire porch and yard into a mosaic patio and garden. I did feel bad that some of the patrons were so demanding and rude because they're kind enough to share their home with the public. Absolutely fantastic. Gonzalo Duran and Cheri Pann have created a magical environment that happens to be their home. Almost every inch is covered in colorful delightful mosaics. The planter boxes, fence, walls and more in the garden are covered with shattered vivid tiles (many made by Cherri), ceramics, melted bottles and more. Everywhere one looks there are surprises. There is a painted mural, 48 portraits of Gonzalo done by Cheri, hand crank creative sculptures by Gonzalo, paintings by Gonzalo and mosaics fashioned by Gonzalo on ceilings, walls, counters, sinks and toilets. Imagine Simon Rodia (Watts Towers) and Antonio Gaudí meeting and creating together. It seems Cheri and Gonzalo's individual creativity ignited exponentially when they joined forces. This project is breathtaking and the $15 tour was so worth it. I particularly enjoyed connecting with Gonzalo and discussing art. If you are anywhere in the vicinity of L.A. do not miss this magnificent opportunity. And call ahead - if you can't go on Saturday you can make an appointment for another day.
