I've been meditating for over a decade now in the Vedic tradition and needed a refresher. As all Vedic meditators can (and perhaps even *should*) re-take the intro courses, I decided to jump back in with Vi (pronounced "Vee") while she was visiting Portland, Oregon last month. I was glad I did. Vi's personal story and journey to becoming a meditator weren't just inspiring, they were also powerful reminders of what made ME choose to meditate: I was living a life of chaos and adrenalized stress; I felt constantly fatigued and felt little joy, even after legit successes. I knew I needed something beyond therapy or medication. In the space of just a few years, I found both meditation and surfing and embraced them both as partner practices for my improv classes and gigs. Meditation made me a better improviser, a better surfer, but - more importantly - a better man. Vi's teaching style was delightfully different than my first teacher's intro class. She is light, funny, playful, kind, supportive and very nurturing. She's also patient, something that's very important, I feel, in any teacher/instructor. If you're considering taking this path -- and you should -- then I'd highly recommend reaching out to Vi to start your own journey. read more

I had been dabbling with meditation for a couple of years solo and was looking to take my practice to the next level when I stumbled across Vi and Effortless Glow Meditation. I hadn't heard of Vedic meditation, but after discussing with Vi for a bit, I decided to give it a try. Vi is an excellent teacher and thoroughly explains everything very simply. She's also very accessible if anything--questions, concerns, troubles--comes up and you're not sure what to do. Doesn't matter if it's text, email or phone call, she's there. I have to admit I was a little skeptical about the effortless technique at first, even after taking the course. It "feels" different from the other meditation techniques I had tried. But after committing to Vedic practice for the last year, I've gotta say it's really been a life changer. I've been way more consistent with my meditations and feel much more present in my day-to-day existence. I've got less anxiety, stress, and more patience for all the things life throws at me. I'm so happy I stumbled across Vi and Vedic meditation and looking forward to where it takes me in the future! read more

Vi was extremely helpful in a personal consultation. I have been a Vedic meditator for 3.5 years, and I sought Vi's guidance about how to approach a challenging situation and resulting anxiety and depressive periods. Vi listened carefully and allowed me a safe space to share my experiences. I felt instantly comfortable with her. She quickly understood my point of view and my experiences, and without having met me before, was able to put herself in my shoes. She then gave me practical concrete steps to help reconnect with my body and my instincts during a difficult period. She also gave me guidance about how to frame the issue I have been facing from a more evolved vedic perspective, given that the years of meditation have already provided enormous support and reconnection to my body and my own natural instincts. Vi clearly understood my situation so well and was able to challenge me on certain old habitual beliefs, and thus to help me open up to move beyond them. Vi helped me see how far I have come and how I can shift my viewpoint of myself into a more forgiving, understanding connection with myself. I continue to reflect on her advice and insights, and I have been putting into practice her suggestions. Vi showed a deep knowledge of the vedic tradition and also a unique ability to coach students through challenges with very wise advice and kindness. I would highly recommend Vi as a Vedic meditation teacher for new students and as a resource for personal consultations for vedic meditators who have questions about their practice or for guidance in making changes in their lives. read more

Last summer, in anticipation of my second knee replacement, I studied vedic meditation with Vi. I had been a "struggling" meditator for almost 20 years and found that Vi's effortless approach suited me very well and I easily was able to meditate twice a day. During the months prior to my surgery, I found myself able to be more accepting of what life was bringing to me. I had my first knee replacement in November of 2017, and almost on the anniversary date, I had my second knee replacement. So, I had something to compare. The day of my surgery in November of 2018, I met with the anesthesiologist and he said "You are the calmest person I have ever seen." Because of that, he decided I didn't need to have too much anesthesia. I was awake when they rolled me into the operating room (the previous time I was already anesthestized), awake when they gave me the spinal block. My surgery started at 7:30 a.m., (same time as before). The surgeon called my spouse at 9:30 a.m., (same as before) but this time, I called my husband at 10:30 a.m. For the first operation, I had spent the night in the hospital and hadn't woke from the anesthesia until approximately 26 hours later. This time, I was home after a physical therapy session by 3 p.m. on the same day. My recovery has been amazing. It has been just 2 months since my surgery, but I feel like I it has been the same progress as at the 5 month stage. Do I think vedic meditation, and the effortless, healing approach I was taught by Vi made a difference? Absolutely. Carol 1/21/19 read more

Vi is an incredible teacher! I learned to meditate from Vi this past summer with a small group of first timers like me. Vi's instruction was super clear and I found the practice to be more straight forward than I expected. She was able to make what is an ancient practice very accessible with helpful anecdotes and tips on how to meditate in our modern world. In addition Vi has been very helpful well after the course was completed. I am thankful to be a part of her meditation community and am grateful for the practice which has become a meaningful part of my life. I have found that it has helped me manage stress in my day to day and I look forward to growing more with the practice. read more

Vi's class is one of the best investments I've made in my health and well being. I've experienced guided meditation and meditation at the end of a yoga class, though never could find a way to develop a regular practice at home. Vi teaches both the reasons why meditation is so rewarding-physically and mentally-and the steps to a simple practice which can be done anywhere. Since her class 6 weeks ago, I've been meditating daily and my stress level is dramatically reduced. I find I have greater access to resourceful, creative problem solving and increased energy. My husband, who had no interest in meditation whatsoever, has observed such significant changes in connection with my meditation practice, that he has enrolled in the next class. The investment in this class also includes ongoing group meditations, lifetime support from Vi and Jeff and the opportunity to participate in advanced training. This simple meditation practice is not in conflict with any religious beliefs. If you live in Laguna or are planning a vacation here, give yourself the gift of learning to meditate with Vi or Jeff! read more

I recently moved to the US from Mexico City and to be honest I had stopped meditating for the past months. I had my initial training on Vedic meditation from a friend and colleague of Vi from Mexico City but as I moved to San Diego and restarted my practice I was facing several obstacles and wanted in person guidance. Vi went out of her way, having never met me to meet me to discuss these issues. She listened and after hearing all of my doubts questions and concerns she explained to me with much patience and details. I can't begin to say how much she helped me. It's like she understood me after only a few minutes of meeting me. She explained things in a simple and clear way providing me with real world examples. While sitting with her discussing about my practice, two light bulbs went off in my head. I really recommend Vedic meditation but even more so learning from Vi. She helped me come to several realizations and since then I have began trusting myself, practicing daily without such resistance, and embracing difficult meditation processes. You really have so much to gain and nothing to lose from reaching out to her! read more

I've been searching something to help with anxiety besides prescription drugs and decided to try Vedic meditation on the suggestion of a friend. I'm so glad I did. Vi is about the most laid back, approachable person you could find. Her kindness and heartfelt desire to help each of her students, for me, is what makes Vi's approach as a teacher so appealing and beneficial. She is highly knowledgeable about everything Vedic and answered every question that was asked during our introductory course. The feeling of a sense of calmness and an awareness that things aren't as bad as I think they are has been noticeable since I started practicing.
