My dog Spot 3
Ethel P.

Good experience boarding my dog here for the weekend! I needed to board my newly adopted dog Spot just a couple weeks after I acquired him. He has a few quirks so I was nervous about leaving him in a kennel initially. VCA Chatsworth noted all of the special information on Spot's record. They are very easy to reach on the telephone during business hours for questions, appointments, to check in on your pet. The facility and grounds are beautiful and well taken care of. They walked my dog four times per day and have additional playtime offered for extra cost, if desired. The kennel caretaker Ed was especially helpful and kind. Thank you to all at VCA Chatsworth Veterinary Center.

My pup has been going to chatsworth vet center for 5 years and care is top notch. She has had allergic reactions requiring urgent care visits and their affiliation with VCA is helpful in continuation of care. Dr Schneider is the best. Zola is always ecstatic to see him!!!

Took my kittens Zoë and Dior for their first vet visit and was treated so kindly. Would definitely recommend to other cat parents .

Paloma happy to get a check up

They recognized signs of how our dog is feeling and offered to do their services in the separate treatment room so that our dog wouldn't keep feeling like he must protect us! Afterwards, we were consulted on everything that occurred and were given valuable information on what other steps we could take. I really appreciate Dr Cohen taking her time to discuss with us everything and both sides asked and answered questions. She was very kind and as our first vet to come across, she didn't make us feel worried and eased our stresses. The standard of care here was very amazing and I have no worries coming back here in the future for invaluable pet care.

On December 1, 2025, my pup looked at me, and I knew it was time. Our family had called upon Dr…read more Gonzalez before, so there was no question in my mind who to call again. Unlike our previous experience where we were able to book ahead of time and plan for our pup's passing, this was a circumstance where our baby needed immediate services -- his body was failing. Once I saw our senior 13-yr old pup was telling me it was okay, I called Dr. Gonzalez at 7pm. She was at our home by 10pm. Our pup had been sick for several years, and in that last week, our primary vet had already told us his health was declining, so we at least knew the end was near. And I had already mentally prepared to be strong and let him go when he needed to -- so I had Dr. Gonzalez's number on hand. We live in an apartment building, so we reserved a spot for her in our lot as close as possible to an exit. She came upstairs to our home, and she had brought all her equipment. I had already imagined how I wanted this experience to go for my once in a lifetime soul pup. I sat on his favorite place on the sofa, and I had him in my lap. Dr. Gonzalez gave me a pee pad to wrap around him within the blanket understanding there could be an accident in the process as his body released his spirit. I had a candle lit. I had soft music playing. We had low lighting on to honor what was about to happen. Dr. Gonzalez was also super accommodating to our 2nd puppy who was curious about her and wondering what was happening to his big brother. She didn't shoo him away -- she invited us to keep the puppy around so he can know his big brother was about to pass on. She gave us time to speak to Nuxx, love on him, and then let him go. Then, it finally happened. And Dr. Gonzalez stepped out of our apartment for awhile, giving our little family time to grieve, sob, and hold our baby close. Our puppy sniffed him too and said his goodbyes. Then she came back, and she asked us if we wanted to be the ones to carry him out or she was happy to do so. My husband carried him, myself and our puppy followed along -- felt like a procession down our apartment hallway. We got to Dr. Gonzalez's car, and we gently placed our baby's body in her car, and said our goodbyes again. Then...it was done. Throughout the experience, Dr. Gonzalez was so incredibly supportive, gentle, understanding, and patient. What else can you ask for when such a heartbreaking thing is occurring? When a spirit is literally fading in your arms? I am still not over losing him, but at least I know we gave him the most peaceful send-off we could: in his own home, in our arms, surrounded by so much love. If / when we need to go through again, I will continue to call on Dr. Gonzalez. RIP Nuxx.

August eleventh I took my dog there because she was having diarrhea and I thought I was seeing blood in the stool. I'm the first time dog owner , so of course , I was very upset and worried so when I got there , I was more afraid of an obstruction because she is a dog that will eat everything including things that shouldn't be eaten. So I was more worried about a blockage. They\nShowed me the X-ray, and they said the X-ray didn't reveal any blockage, but that her intestines were inflamed. They gave me the blood test results. The white blood cell count was high, so it indicated to me.My lay knowledge is that she's got an infection.Sounded a lot like probably colitis, because we haven't found the dog food that she likes. And so , we've switched a couple of times. So while I was waiting to get the result I was sitting in the reception area , and there was a lady there with a cat and they had come out and diagnosed her cat with parvo. They recommended hospitalization, IV fluids and treatment. And as most people know , parvo is a very deadly illness for a cat or dog. They told her it was going to be thirteen hundred dollars for 3 days in the hospital. So while I was there , I applied for care credit to pay for the diagnostics. When you apply on the phone it comes back and gives you all your credit card details. So they can charge your care credit account. But it also shows them what you're limit is. I believe that the receptionist wrote down my credit limit. Because low and behold , when they came out to tell me what the treatment protocol was that it was going to be thirty nine hundred dollars , a hundred dollar shy of what I had left on my credit limit after diagnostics. It did not sit right with me. If my dog was 3 days into parvo, she would have been lethargic and she would not have been eating, and she possibly would have been throwing up.And that was not my dog, I explained to them very carefully that was not her.She was very energetic even in the office. The high white blood cell count should have told this doctor that it was not parvo , because harvard would have caused a very low blood count. I don't understand how this doctor could have diagnosed. My dog is having parvo and recommended $3900 worth of treatment, which would have meant 9 days of hospitalization at the price, they quoted the other woman and I don't know how they think they were going to do that.Nine days of ivy , fluid and recommending vitamin b for the dog. And god only knows how much they were going to charge me for that. I walked out feeling uncertain and extremely upset that if my dog really had power, she was going to die.So I asked them to show me the parvo test kit, and they right away, came out with a par with like a pregnancy test thing that showed parvo, positive. And I was like thinking about it , and I said , I don't even know if that's hers. But I decided there's no way she's got par vote , and I took a chance and I hated doing that because I love this dog with all my heart , but I knew leaving her there , they would torture her. I knew they were going to overtreat.Her. then my wife asked me, wait a minute, isn't it?The same place you took our cat when they didn't even realize she had stitches? I said yes , as a matter of fact , it was and that I had forgotten all about that. They had\nUs come in and pay money for an appointment to remove stitches that were already dissolved. Now I'm 2 days later. After that visit, my dog still doesn't have any signs of parvo. Her diarrhea is cleaning up when I switched her to rice and chicken raw food. She probably needs some allergy testifigus clear to me.I won't be taking her here to have that done. Can you imagine if I had submitted to the treatment? My poor puppy probably would have gotten treated for the colitis while she was there. And then nine days later , away from her family on I vet place that doesn't have staff overnight , the torture rescue dog would have gone through. I opted for a second opinion to take a second parvo test. This dog did not have parvo. Draw your own conclusions , but i'm never coming back.

This is not optional or cosmetic--it's a serious diagnostic test. Yet the Banfield location in Chatsworth (91311) acted like scheduling it was a burden. They pushed back, resisted, and initially refused to book the appointment. It took a manager from another Banfield hospital calling them just to get an appointment made for today. That alone tells you how poorly this location is managed. When I arrived, I was 20 minutes late. I understand punctuality matters, but what happened next was unacceptable: they immediately used that as an excuse to refuse to perform the test, with zero effort to help or problem-solve. An LDDS test involves timed blood draws every 4 hours, so a professional clinic would explain options clearly, offer a modified plan if possible, or at minimum reschedule in a reasonable way. Instead, they acted like they were looking for a reason to turn us away. The practice manager, Katie, was hostile, dismissive, and confrontational. Her behavior was not just "busy" or "having a bad day"--it was outright disrespectful. I asked for the next available date or any alternative appointment, and she refused to schedule anything. No solutions. No accountability. No concern for my dog's health. Just attitude. Bottom line: If your pet needs real medical attention and you expect basic professionalism, avoid this Banfield in Chatsworth. They wasted my time, added stress during a health issue, and showed zero empathy or willingness to help. I will not be returning, and I strongly suggest you take your pet to a clinic that actually cares and behaves professionally.

We were already nervous as we've never dealt with this issue before. Over the phone, we were told that we could bring them in, receive the necessary medication, and were quoted the price. Having been to this clinic before and having a mostly positive experience with their vaccinations, I trusted that everything had been clearly explained. Apparently, that was not the case. My husband brought both cats in and was told to wait in the lobby. He waited for OVER AN HOUR before a nurse finally came out and told him that all they had done was weigh our cats and take their temperatures. When he asked about the medication, he was told that we were expected to administer it ourselves at home. That is the complete opposite of what we understood from our phone call. My husband reasonably asked why we had been instructed to bring both cats in if we were simply going to give them the medication ourselves at home. The explanation? They needed to weigh them. The medication is for cats weighing between 2 and 16 pounds. Something they expressed already over the phone. Our cats weigh 6 and 10 pounds, respectively, and had recently been to this clinic for vaccinations. So why were we not told over the phone that the "appointment" was essentially just to weigh them and take their temperatures? Why were we made to drive 30 minutes each way, put two already anxious cats through a stressful car ride, and wait for over an hour for something that could apparently have been handled by simply picking up the medication like a goddamn pharmacy? To make matters worse, when my husband went to check out, the final price was $20 MORE than the amount we were quoted over the phone. No clear explanation and absolutely no respect for our time. By the time we finally left, both cats were understandably distressed, upset, and yowling. This entire experience felt completely unnecessary. What exactly was happening with our cats for over an hour? When my husband asked, the nurses couldn't give him a clear answer. I understand that veterinary clinics get busy and have other animals to care for. That is not the issue. The issue is the lack of communication and the hour-long wait without a clear explanation, plus the discrepancy in pricing This visit has seriously damaged our confidence in their service. We will not be returning to this clinic. P.S. Invest in better nurses and a liquid version of the deworming medication. Cats aren't dumbasses; treats can only hide so much.

After an emergency visit costing approximately $2,000, I brought my dog here for follow-up care. They charged another $1,200-$1,400 for blood work, urinary stone analysis, and other testing. Just three or four days later, while awaiting surgery, he was struggling to urinate again. I arrived at 8 a.m. They knew his condition, including his liver shunt, and had seen him for the SAME problem that week. They told me to wait and that they would see him between appointments. FOUR HOURS passed. Not one veterinarian came to assess him. At noon, they told me they could not see him after all. Then came more discussion of scans and costs, without even confirming whether he could be seen by 3 p.m. Why tell me to wait if you cannot provide care? My dog was suffering, and those hours mattered. I finally went to another practice, which welcomed us without hesitation--even though we were not their patients. The difference in how we were treated was staggering. Their pricing also deserves an explanation. They charged $48 to trim my small dog's nails, while I heard another customer being charged $15 for a much larger dog at the same location. What justified that difference? As a paying client, I expect clear, consistent pricing. And the stone analysis I paid for? Approximately SIX WEEKS later, still no results or follow-up. The practice that performed his surgery provided stone-analysis results within three days. Taking payment without communicating results is unacceptable. My most heartbreaking experience involved my previous dog. They removed a mass that turned out to be cancerous, and he died one week later. When I asked why imaging had not been done beforehand, their response was: "You didn't ask us to do a scan." That response still makes me angry. I am NOT a veterinarian. It is your responsibility to explain recommended tests, risks, and options before surgery. How can an owner request something they do not know is needed? I was already paying for surgery and would have paid for additional recommended imaging if it had been explained. Blaming me afterward was appalling. I cannot say what caused his death, but my questions about his care remain unanswered. I spent years trusting this practice and paying for my dogs' care. When we needed help, I felt dismissed, kept waiting, and let down. Based on my experiences, their focus on billing was far more apparent than their concern for my dogs. I regret giving this place my trust for so long. I will never bring another pet here. Pet owners deserve better, and this practice owes its clients clear answers and accountability.

An email or some form of communication would have been appreciated, especially for clients whose pets were treated by Dr. Ban and who were relying on information or follow-up care plans he had previously provided. Overall, the lack of communication and transparency has been very disappointing. Between not being informed of Dr. Ban's retirement and now being told something different regarding post-op costs, I no longer feel confident about what I'm being told.
