Lunch!
Bret B.

Quick visit on the drive from Boston to NYC. Vazzy's is a classic Italian restaurant with good food, good service and a laid back vibe that everyone seems to enjoy. This is a local spot that attracts everyone from the town. Families, business people, construction workers, police, everyone..... Salad was fresh and crisp. Meatballs were 3/5.

Came here for a private birthday event and were sat in the back (side?) room. Was a good overall experience.. servers did a decent job trying to keep up with keeping water and soda jugs full. I will say, it was a little hard to mingle given the amount of people for the room so it was more of a once you sit, you're stuck speaking to your table mates. Also served some chicken franchese I believe and the family brought some desserts on their own.

Chicken Marsala

Haven't been to the OG Vazzy's in quite some time so had a date night here. Place definitely has its pros and cons, on this night it was slammed. So slammed we had to park on the adjacent street and walk across the parking lot. Not to mention I made 630 reservations but didn't get seated until 7, what was the point of making the reservation? Anyhow, I give it 4 stars based on the food and the quality service from our server we received. I got the chicken parm which was very enjoyable, came with pasta and string beans which oddly was good and goes well with chicken parm. My wife got chicken Marsala which looked good as well. They had a loud private party in the side room but what annoyed us was the 40 person party in the dining room the covered the entire length of the floor, just made the place seem small and uncomfortable.

Cavatelli and broccoli

Lazzy disgrace for Italian food. 19$ for a cavatelli and broccoli. I needed strainer to drain my dinner before eating. It looked like cavatelli soup. If you're looking for better Italian food check out Olive Garden .

The restaurant was so inviting with a mural of Italy with a Vespa and other coffee imagery. They played Italian music. They also sell pizza, gelato, coffee, cakes and canolis. There is a full bar as well. Next time I stop in I'd like to try the pizza.

Should have been my first clue. The pizzas in the display case all looked enticing (although nothing labeled or priced) and I decided to get a Gramma slice along with the eggplant special listed for the day. I also got the ricotta/spinach bread showcased in the display case. I asked if the eggplant was a platter or a grinder/sandwich, and was told it was a sandwich. Great. Well, there was no grinder, no Italian bread, roll, but what looked to be either pizza or calzone dough made into bread like slices. Interesting. The taste wasn't great and it was difficult to pick up to eat without all falling apart, so I decided to remove the top piece of "bread" and eat it with a fork and knife. There was 1 piece of eggplant, 1 piece on each sandwich half. One. Eggplant Parm is cooked and then the slices layered, and usually there are at least 3-4 layers, but not this. The eggplant had many seeds in it indicating the eggplant is past its prime-not the freshest -and the seeds add a bitter taste. Not pleasing. Gobs of cheese atop the bread, but no Parmesan detected. The ricotta spinach was an inedible unappetizing mess of stringy cheese and overcooked spinach. The Gramma slice was ok but I would not return for this. The decor is great and the service was fine, but the food was not good and ended up in the garbage! Ugh! On street parking in downtown Bridgeport. I will not be returning nor recommending.

We sat at the bar, and I liked how spacious the place is. It has that industrial brewery vibe, a large dining room, and outdoor seating. It's also within walking distance of the arena, so this is a good spot to grab food and drinks and or meet with your group before a concert or event. The pizza is thin crust and has a similar style to New Haven pizza. The flavor was great, but I felt like the center wasn't crispy enough to hold the slice up. It made things a little messy because the middle would flop while eating it. We ordered three small pies so we could try a few different combinations. One was the Weekend Special, which was a red pie with garlic, fresh basil, buffalo mozzarella, pepperoni, meatball, shaved Parmesan, and oregano. The small was $27, which I thought was pretty pricey for the portion. The other two were build your own pie; one white pie with basil and ricotta, and one red pie with pepperoni, meatball, and green pepper. All three pizzas tasted great. My main issue was the texture of the center. I prefer my pizza crispy enough that I can actually pick up a slice without everything sliding or folding over. Service was friendly and attentive enough, although I thought it was a little odd that my bartender disappeared and someone else took over without any explanation. My man tried a few of the beers and enjoyed being able to sample different options, while I went with a margarita flight. Overall, I liked the atmosphere and the pizza was tasty, but I definitely felt the pizzas were overpriced for the size and what you get.

Super dark in all areas on the restaurant Antipasto was the best of everything we ordered nicely mixed and large portion full of meats and marinated veggies The meats pizza could barely be eaten because the crust was thin and under cooked so the meats would fall completely off making it very hard to eat Chef choice pizza didn't have caramelized onions but rather red onions but thin with lack luster chicken cutlet and arugula on top Best pizza we had was the Margarita pizza fresh tomato slices, garlic and fresh basil We won't be back due to service and pizza wasn't great They take credit card and have a large lot for parking but can get filled up fast especially if there is an event at the stadium for concerts

Honestly, my favorite pizza place on the planet. Hands down. It's been my childhood favorite and my…read moreadulthood favorite. Ive eaten thousands of pizzas in different places and states, and still, I prefer a pizza pie from Captain's over any other. Personally, I prefer the Greek-style pizza over Italian (fight me about it!) and that's exactly what Captain's offers. The crust is much more buttery, yet crispy without breaking your teeth. The red sauce is bursting full of flavor and it's always the right amount. Not too wet, and not ever dry. The cheese... oh the cheeeeese! I admit, I don't know exactly what kind of cheese or cheese blend they use but man, is it good!! Perfectly squeaky, stretchy, and gooey. And they don't skimp out on it. No sir. Then there's the multitude of fresh toppings. Onions, peppers, pineapples, broccoli, spinach, mushrooms... you name it, they have it. All the fresh veggies and meat toppings you'd want. They also offer a variety of amazing tasting Greek and Italian cuisine. Souvlaki, eggplant parm, gyros, calzones, shrimp scampi, spaghetti and meatballs, wraps, burgers, salads, grinders and so much more! Always a very generous portion too, these guys love to feed you!! The restaurant itself is always clean with plenty of seats and tables to accommodate any size party from single folks to large groups. Almost every time I've gone in (Boston ave location), the owner, Dimitrios, is in the kitchen making magic. As busy as he always is, he always makes time to chat and joke with his customers. He's always striving to make his restaurant better so he takes customer complaints very seriously. Whether dining in, or picking up an order, I've never had a negative experience at Captain's. The food is always phenomenal, the service is always great. I've moved away from Bridgeport 10 years ago but every time I come back home, Captains Pizza one of the places I *HAVE* to visit. As a patron since I was a wee little girl, I'm definitely partial, but I know good pizza and good food, and Captain's has it all. They set the bar! (I've yet to find a pizza place that compares!!) Highly recommended!!

My personal relationship has come to an end today with this establishment, such a shame. All…read morebecause their cashier was rude and unprofessional when I asked her to use the bathroom. I am a mail carrier, who works in the area. Please note, that I had also delivered to them when the regular was out on vacation, this is how I became a customer. I would purchase their personal size cheese pizza almost everyday while doing the route, or if and when in the area. Before leaving, I would use the bathroom, because as mentioned before ... I am a mail carrier with very little access to restrooms on the routes. So today, although I did not make a purchase today, I stopped there this morning to use the restroom. I again then tried to use the bathroom just now 3/2 @ 5pm and the young lady who is the cashier had an attitude and said to me that I basically shouldn't think that I can just come there and use their bathroom, and that I have to be a customer. I explained to her that I am a customer, I just wasn't making a purchase today. She continues to tell me that she's being "nice," and if it were anyone else .. they would tell me no to my face (lmao). I wanted to curse her out so bad, but me being in my uniform didn't allow me to. Anyways, I reiterated myself about me being a customer ... and that I just wasn't making a purchase ... she calls a gentleman over and he's like don't take it personal ... but it was already personal ... I had been spending my money there for a long time, just for you to deny me bathroom access. I told them straight up that they just lost a customer.

Five Star Pizza was in the vicinity of where my son was getting his hair done so I decided to stop in. I been here before but I haven't been here for many years. I ordered a personal pizza which was six dollars but you have to order at least ten dollars of food to use your debit or credit card. The restaurant looked same as I knew it many years ago but with minor upgrades. The pizza was just okay. It wasn't really crispy but the crust was pretty good, and the flavor was there in the sauce. It wasn't bad for a quick meal and especially at that price. I wouldn't go out my way to visit this restaurant but it is a good place to stop if you're hungry and in the area.
