Went here with coworkers for a business lunch. The place was really booming at lunch. First, they brought out a basket of bread, different kinds including pizza dough that was buttered and delicious. Additionally, there were greek olives which, lucky for me, no one else at the table wanted. Two of the corworkers had the chicken parm platter for lunch. If that was the lunch portion I can't even imagine seeing the dinner portion. It was huge! I had the Arugula salad. The salad had arugula, red oinions- and I think it was an entire onion and plenty of Gorgonzola cheese. I wouldn't recommend this if you are dieting. The dressing was an orange mandarin and I don't know what it was on the salad but it had a pretty big kick to it. I wish that would have been called out on the menu. Went here again because I saw that they have a weekend specials menu that includes a filet mignon. I really expected it to be excellent knowing how good the food here typically is but I was a bit disappointed. The filet was pretty big but it lacked the tenderness that a good filet should have. It was quite tasty but a bit tough. It's probably best to stick with the Italian food here, that's always very good. I went to Vazzy's for my daughter's graduation dinner, it was suppose to be family style, the waitress was lovely but the wait between courses was far too long. Our reservation was 8:30pm and we e seated around 8:40pm. Dishes were still coming out at the table after 10:15pm and we never received our grilled vegetables that was included in the family style menu. We had to pack up the remaining dinner and leave. We could not stay to enjoy the cupcakes I had brought to celebrate her graduation because it was so late. This was unfortunate because most of the food was not bad. Wow, so that's probably my last visit. I've been going since they opened. I even made out in a van in the parking lot with some weirdo as a teenager. I'm surprised I wasn't killed or kidnapped there on the Bridgeport line - lol! I have always loved the cavatelli and broccoli served sizzling in the pan. When it came in a normal bowl and I inquired about the pan, both the server and manager were utterly perplexed. They literally had to get the menu out and read "served in pan..." Uh ok. They redid for me but it was only ok. When I go out to carb overload, I want to be satiated and pleased. I'm not in the mood for issues. And then you go to an old standby favorite, you want your comfort food without hassle. It wasn't a great experience overall. I don't feel it's my job to pay you and explain your menu to you. Pizza today was ok too. Not awesome but ok. Hey you can't go wrong with huge servings and a great happy hour. Vazzy's will survive with one less carb conscious person frequenting. I'm very easy going and have been in the restaurant business for many years. I travel to Connecticut often and visit the Treeland area of Bridgeport. I have patronized Vazzy's many times all with similar results, today was my last. Here is my review and unsolicited advice. When management allows their employees to provide poor service they believe the business has reached a level of prestige that will ensure success. The team believes they have reached celebrity status as they ride on the coattails of fame; remember how quickly things change. There are many reviews on Yelp about this restaurant and I have often recommend the Broadbridge location to colleagues traveling to the Trumbull area. I only hope their dining experiences have not been as bad as the level of service I consistently experience. My advice to the owners, rethink your core business and retrain/replace your entire staff. read more

A must visit when I am home in CT! Vazzy's serves your traditional Italian fare- which you can never go wrong enjoying! Every meal starts with a basket of fresh baked bread and cheesy pizza sticks. Highlights of Vazzy's offerings include delicious pizza, calzones, grinders and pastas. The grinders in particular are a great value! For about $7 you get a huge grinder, about a footlong size, with a substantial portion of French fries. I always leave with leftovers. The eggplant parm grinder is my personal favorite. Service can be a bit of a mixed bag. On my most recent travels home to CT, we visited Vazzy's twice. The first time, for lunch, service was attentive and efficient. The second time, for dinner, we waited about 20 minutes for our server to stop by for the first time! It honestly seemed like we were forgotten about. Luckily the food made up for it. read more

What's more frustrating is the young lady never once acknowledged us even though she was serving a couple directly in front of us and came to their table multiple times. My sister ordered catering to go for my mother's 80th birthday and asked me to pick it up yesterday. Our pick up time was 1:15 PM. I got to the restaurant went to the back and paid the cashier and she told me to go back out and wait in my vehicle and they will bring it out to me. Our bill came to $275. After waiting for 20 or 25 minutes I went back into the restaurant. This time another cashier was there and said my food was right here on the table. I got home and we opened the food by this time it was cold, so we put it in the oven. I don't normally like to slam restaurants, but this was the worst food that I ever had. The fried calamari was soggy and rubbery, the penne, alla vodka; there must've been about a half a cup of sauce in the entire tray, and it was tasteless. The roast beef was dried out. There was some kind of garlic bread made from pizza crust that had no flavor and was tough and chewy. The only thing that tasted decent was the eggplant Parmesan. I believe it was the responsibility of the first cashier who told me to wait in my vehicle as to why the food was bad. She never followed through. It sat in the restaurant too long. And if I had a choice, I would have put all the food back in my vehicle and brought it back to the restaurant and asked for my money back but we had people that were hungry, so I had no choice but to serve it. It's been many years since I've been to this restaurant and I remember always having good food there. I don't think I would ever go back here ever again. read more

Randomly found his place for lunch on a trip to CT while picking up dry cleaning next door. Another hidden gem! To start off, the bread was out of this world. So......even if the food would have been sub-par, which it definitely was NOT, I'd give his place four stars simply based on the quality of the bread. But........this place is definitely five star worthy. Had spaghetti and meatballs with marinara sauce. Very simple, typical Italian fare, and also out of this world. I loved VAZZYS. We went there after a funeral, and we were served family style. Appetizers and thin crust pizza they were wonderful, vegetables, Penne a la vodka, and the most wonderful loon of pork with stuffing bread stuffing. Drinks were good., nothing watered down, plenty of wine and a fabulous salad. But the stuffed pork will make me remember that meal for awhile. read more

The servers are always quick to attend to your requests and the Vazzy's cheesy bread is the best. I hate leaving bad reviews..BUT they screwed up my takeout order twice in one night. I ordered a gluten free lobster pizza. The crust was gluten free but the lobster was breaded..why?? I called and let them know and they offered a new pizza. I went to pick up the new pizza and they also brought me a gift card, which I thought was nice. However, when I got home I noticed the new pizza also had breaded lobster. I can only assume they gave the gift card as a consolation because they knew the new pizza was also wrong. Not to mention the appearance of the pizza was a disgrace. Sorry, but the Stratford location runs rings around the Bridgeport one. I will have to stick with Stratford from now on. Edit to add: the wait time was also horrible. They were super busy and I had to wait in my car for about an hour each time. I have had dinner at two different locations and have enjoyed all the meals I have had. The service can be inconsistent but the food has been consistently delicious. Everything seems fresh and hot when it arrives to your table. One of my pet peeves is warm/cold food. This has never been the case at Vazzy's. They are very good at moving food from the kitchen to the table quickly even during busy times. My daughter goes to school in the area. On one family trip to visit her, we arranged a large dinner party at a new to us restaurant called Vazzy's. We had an excellent meal and have always looked forward to our meals since the first visit . The broad range of experiences that people have had surprises me. If I had to choose one area where Vazzy's could improve it would be service. While the service has always been friendly and welcoming, and I haven't had terrible service yet, and don't expect to, there have been a few times where we had to flag down wait staff for minor things like drink refills or Parmesan cheese. I am a new comer to the area, so I do not claim knowledge of Vazzy's past. Their current reputation to me is favorable and reliable. The food is great! I recommend it. I hope whoever reads this has as good experiences as I have had. I will continue to eat a all locations. read more

Doing business with them eased my stress level by 100%..."this is what we do" is what they told me. The event was a total success, the food got raves, the servers were hard-working and certainly knew what they were doing from start up to tear down. The price was very fair. I haven't been to this Vazzys in over 10 years. Went today with my client and her mother. There was an issue when I first got there. I wasn't happy with the conversation I had with the manager and she made my experience uncomfortable. The waitress was amazing, she was a sweetheart and I can't even lie the food was amazing! Our last visit was the tomato that ripped the crust (as in straw breaking the camel's back), we sat in the bar area and neither of the Gotti boys (must have had to get jobs since mom was losing the house) noticed us nor came up to us; we had to ask for service. We ordered two sandwiches, both were blah and lack luster. I ordered the Eggplant Parm, but what came was a few pieces of eggplant (questionable to whether it was fresh or fresh from freezer) with tons of mozzarella and LITTLE sauce. It was dry and tasteless. My wife ordered the Vazzy ( I believe that is what it was called) and it was just as lack luster as mine. It lacked flavor and was very dry. I tried to return to Vazzy's time and time again for the great pizza, but this time they ruined it. Between the NOT BRICK OVEN pizza (maybe they should take that out of their name), the sub par food, the Gotti Boys more interested in doing shots with the patrons at the bar than serving the whole bar area, and the lack luster service Vazzy's is no longer on my must go list. First time around I waited in the car for an hour after the 50 min passed since I placed my order. My friend waited 2 hours and got a gift card from them as an apology. So we decided to use up the card and give them another chance. I asked how long the wait was before even placing an order. Was told 30 mins. I arrived 30 mins later and was sitting in the car for another 20, seeing cars come and go with their order. Probably would have waited longer if I didn't call and complain. Ordered two dinners for take out. Very busy but can't blame them for that but one of the meals was spaghetti and meatballs. Had to ask for bread separately and came without butter. No cheese or anything else for the pasta either. Usually when you drop close to a twenty on a plate of spaghetti you get bread and Parmesan with it. The other meal was a chicken and veggies. Chicken was good but veggies only so so. Again when you drop a $20 you could expect bread, butter and more than a small pack of salt/pepper. I have never had a bad meal here. Sometimes the service is spotty but usually it is very good. For an appetizer we got The Sampler and that was delicious. It includes calamari which is always crispy, clams casino which are delicious, and fried mozz which you can't go wrong with. I usually have the Rustica and it is always a delicious combo between tons of garlic sauce (which I love) and huge chunks of chicken and sausage. I get it without mushrooms and onions because I don't care for either. My boyfriend got the Pink Pasta which he didn't end up loving but he wanted to try something new. He said the prosciutto was overly cooked and a little burned. It was also a little salty--- but it's all in the name of trying new things. Now we know to steer clear of this dish but they have so many other dishes that are great. I've never had a problem with the service. Some servers are friendlier than others but overall-- i've never had an issue. I am usually so full after my appetizers and meal that I have never ordered dessert but maybe I should. My parents live right around the corner and we love it here. Up for the Pink Pasta, the serving is so large that besides eating some at dinner, I take the rest home and spend the next 2 days trying to finish it, no lie. Calzones are delicious. Their Caesar salad with grilled chicken? Yes, please. Got their eggplant parm dinner once, came with side of broccoli and a side of ziti.....all three on the same plate, not a fan of that personally. Other than that and the fact that the dining room (apart from the bar) can get a bit loud for comfort, I'd say this place is great! read more
