I highly recommend the papdi chaat and a mango lassi! All the dishes we had were tasty and not as spicy as some other south Indian restaurants so a little better for those (like me) not as good with hot spice. The dosa could have done with a little more taste though but I did really enjoy it. We had two small dishes, two curries, a dosa, two naan breads, a beer and a mango lassi and it came to just over £30. Very good, especially as there was so much food we struggled to walk home! Definitely one of the best restaurants on Green Street and worth a visit for sure.

The staff are all very friendly and helpful when ordering if you are unsure. The menu is extensive and there is lots to choose from. As well as eating in or take away they do have a lot of snacks and sweets to take away too. They are used to catering for hundreds and hundreds of people so they really know what they are doing. If you are ever in the area it is somewhere you should stop in to.

The pillowy bun and the mushy vegetable patty with a fiery hot chutney envelop pomegranate seeds and roasted peanuts, which add a crunch to the textural profile, and tart and tangy flavors that both offset and complement the heat. The falooda is the perfect cold dessert to finish off the sweat-inducing spicy meal.

This is a vegetarian restaurant but if, like me, you're a meat eater don't let this put you off. The dishes are so tasty and filling you won't notice the lack of meat. The restaurant is always busy and is especially popular within the Asian community so that's always a good sign. It's not the smartest restaurant and is more like a cafe in terms of the setting but it really is a gem. I always have to have the aloo papdi chaat. It's definitely my favourite dish there. Then I usually go for a thali to get a mix of everything or a dosa as they're so good. It's all really good though, well cooked, nicely spiced and really good value. The only thing I haven't liked is the mogo. We usually get a few dishes and share them between us which works well but we do come out completely stuffed and have to waddle home. Oh, and always have a mango lassi each. I just wish they did jugs of it!

If you ever have the yen to head to India, but can't quite scrape together the time or the funds…read more.. or maybe you've already been, but are in the mood to reminisce, I suggest you hop on the District Line and head to East Ham. There's a plethora of Indian stores and restaurants on the East Ham High Street (and of course, the requisite population of Asians to patronize them... if you're anything but brown, be prepared to feel like a foreign minority - I've been stopped and asked if I'm "lost"), but after you've poked around a bit, I suggest you take a right out of the East Ham Tube station and head up the street to the vegetarian Saravanaa Bhavan restaurant for a delightfully tasty and authentic Indian meal experience. What's really cool about Saravanaa Bhavan (and what makes it worth the trek) is that they serve dishes that you've never seen anywhere in your run-of-the-mill Indian restaurant... and certainly not anywhere in Central London. Visually, you're in for a surprise. There are incredible inflated pancakes, mammoth tubes of golden crepes-like things three feet long, little tin cups filled with a rainbow of curries and sauces that you've never heard of before. For a lover of Indian food, this is a veritable funhouse of new and fascinating curiosities... you will want to look and stare and ask a thousand questions, and then, order everything! They have a couple of platter options, and for a first-timer, I recommend that you get both (especially since they're unbelievably cheap) - that way you get a good sampling of everything on offer. Plus maybe order a mashed-potato-filled dosa, just for good measure. The service is okay. The atmosphere is better than what you'd expect. But the food is delicious; good quality and exceptionally well-spiced - plus you really can't trump the whole novelty factor of the cuisine. Just be warned, the locals like it too, so on a weekend night you could be in for a bit of a wait... but consider this a fantastic sign - you're dinner will be worth it.

I ordered The All…read moreAmerican (16.75 GBP), which was a typical combo of pancakes, bacon, homestyle potatoes, a sausage, and two fried eggs. It was rather plain/ordinary but certainly not bad. I have to say, the pancakes were a bit on the dry side though. Also, the eggs were sunny side up but didn't actually seem fried at all, as they were super soft without any crispiness. In addition, they didn't even add the slightest amount of seasoning on there - at least a few pepper flakes would have been nice (although there was pepper on the table, but still). The homestyle fries were well-cooked with a good crispiness though. The restaurant has a lower level with some seating as well as a larger upper level. It has a sort of old-timey kind of vibe, with wood panels along the walls and ceiling and a little performance stage in the back. It is conveniently located right next to the Canary Wharf tube station. My waitress was average friendliness and was only moderately attentive, as she never checked up on me during my meal. She also waited until I actually got my food to bring me my water. Overall, The Breakfast Club is a solid option for breakfast/brunch in Canary Wharf with pretty much any of the classics that you could want.

I just kept finding the wrong one, but TBC made it worth the wait. For those seeking "a little more conversation", stop at the bar for the friendly experience you'd expect. Today I headed upstairs to the VIP Section. Unlike my wife who never saw a pancake she wanted to go home with, I like a menu with plenty of pancake choices. And bonus points if not too many are "exotic" such as cake disguised as compote-smothered confectioners-sugar-laced trendy-named items. Just get me some sort of flapjack with or without fruit. Bonus points if you have short and tall (long?) stacks. And double-bonus if you print "flapjack" on the menu. Enough about the pancakes (my wife is saying). She doesn't even like breakfast so don't listen to her (she'd skip if I weren't always dragging her out somewhere for it). Her loss. But just one more pancake point: I got the blueberry short stack. It wasn't epic but it was a solid +6-7. That works, given my earlier frou-frou comments. I couldn't tell and maybe the maple syrup was imported from Canada (eh), but we are spoilt with our Vermont supply. So no points gained/lost there. I didn't get any baked beans (yes because this was breakfast), but my bacon was tasty as were my two Americanos (aka coffees). If I had for some reason wanted pre-noon beans...I'm sure they would have been lovely, along with all the other varied menu choices I didn't have room to sample. Service was fast and efficient, and they endured my lingering into late-morning. By the time I left it had stopped raining. Will wonders never cease.
