"Great deli-style sandwiches, from rather hidden location on Chapel Hill Rd"…read more Came by here on a Saturday. This place is REALLY hard to find... it's behind the State Farm building, but there's barely any signage from the street. (Note: some photos here in Yelp seem to be from an older location.) We actually came one Saturday, but it was unexpectedly closed, but we caught them the following one, so good to call and confirm before driving over. You walk up to a door on the back, and scan a QR code to see the menu. Then knock on/ open the door and someone will come to take your order. Then you wait outside and they bring you your sandwiches. The lady who took our order was very friendly. The kitchen was rather large, so I suspect it's used for more than just this business. We ordered two turkey subs-- the East New York (which was slightly spicy) and the Dumbo. Wait time was maybe 7-10 minutes or so. Both sandwiches came nicely wrapped, and I think total cost was a little over $20. And conveniently, they take Apple Pay. These were not your Subway or Quiznos sandwiches-- these were DELICIOUS pressed sandwiches (we got them on focaccia. I personally liked the Dumbo the best-- it had a nice mix of flavors that meshed well. The East New York was solid and had a nice spiciness, but not quite as exciting overall. Would I come back? Probably, but since there's no seating, and it's a bit awkward, maybe not the first place I'd think to try, but again, the sandwiches were REALLY good. I do think it may be excellent for catering or for getting picnic sandwiches though.

First of all, the bread is soft and has a nice bite, holds the juices of a sandwich well and was fresh. I got the Cobble Hill sandwich and the turkey was really good. Also the size is amazing for the price. When you get there, it feels like you're in the wrong place or entering in the wrong way, but you're not. I asked if this was the sandwich spot and a young man took my order and made my sandwich within 5 min. And there is enough parking behind the State Farm building to pull up and get your sandwich I can't wait to go back and try the Italian and cheesesteak sandwiches.

I'm not sure why I love Carolina hot dogs like I do, but I do. And I'm on a never ending quest for…read moregreat Carolina-style hot dogs--not all hot dogs here in the Old North State are Carolina dogs. Discussing my passion for great dogs, my aunt mentioned a grill in the back of a convenience store in Butner. I set out around lunch time one Monday to see if her recommendation would make the cut. Her food has always been fabulous, but some time in the 80s, she married a man who preferred canned biscuits to her perfectly made biscuits of love. But I'm digressing again, as I'm apt to do. Anyway, I had to ask her a couple of times to be sure I'd know I was in the right place. The convenience store has gas pumps and apparently a car wash. In fact, the only signage I could find was "Tom's Car Wash" along the side of the building. There is a restaurant attached, but that's not the grill I'm reviewing. Once inside, it's a typical convenience store, circa 1975-80. It's not an old country store, and it's not a bright and shiny Family Fare. It's local and friendly. Lots of folks seemed to know each other, and to be honest, I probably knew at least five or so folks they know, but I decided to be in cognito. The grill is in the back. It's mostly to go, but there are two tables. If you want sweet tea, you can purchase it at the grill, but if you want a Coke or anything else, you have to purchase that at the convenience store check-out and buy your food independently. The grill serves several sandwich-type items and a main dish or two a day. I was there for the hot dogs, though the idea of home-made chicken and dumplings was rather tempting. Their hot dogs are regularly the best priced I've seen in the Triangle in a LONG time. Less than 1.50 per hot dog, including mustard, slaw, chili, and onions. But I hit it just right. On Mondays, hot dogs are just 99 cents! I can't say these were the best hot dogs in the world but they are pretty darn good, and the price just can't be beat. The location is a bit out of the way, but if you find yourself in Butner with a hankering for a darn good Carolina dog, you know where to go.
