Sure, most people might not seek out Italian food while in Mexico by the water. But after having tacos and seafood numerous times, I was ready for a change. Spaghetti was calling my name, and Varenna could fulfill that request. The restaurant is tiny-it's more of a patio surrounded by trees. There are a handful of tables and a small bar, which is where we were seated. Like all the other restaurants at Live Aqua, we were asked if we had any allergies or dietary restrictions. We told them no cheese for me, and reiterated that when we placed our order, but it still came out with cheese. Luckily, it was easy enough to eat around. The spaghetti hit the spot, although was probably my least favorite of the meals we had. I think it was just a little bland for my taste. But service was friendly, ambience was superb and, hey, you're still in paradise!

During lunch hours, this restaurant serves italian food. The quality of Italian food is (to me) a better version of Maggiano's. My favorites were the Arrabiata and Spaghetti Matricianna. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here. Stick to the tomato based dishes and you'll be fine. The cream based dishes tend to be too heavy on the cream.

Pretty place

With its all glass walls, the space was elegant and inviting. The kitchen was all glass so you can see the chefs preparing the food. We didn't have reservations, but the hostess found us a great table. Our main server was Alejandro and he was more than helpful in making sure we ordered what we wanted. With Italian food, I also prefer very good Italian wine versus a cocktail. He pointed me to 2 red wines that were bold and heavy as I requested. Both were just OK, but expensive. Wines by the bottle was ridiculously high. Regardless, he was great in steering me to the type of dishes more suited to what I was asking for and not just the most expensive. This restaurant has been highly recommended by my brother and sister in law for years. They had told us it was one of the best Italian food they have had anywhere. But, In its previous location, it just looked a bit stuffy for a CANCÚN vacation meal. At its new location, though it was still upscale, it seemed more approachable to us somehow. We just came back from a 10 day vacation at the Amalfi coast, and Rome, Italy. We found the pastas at Cenacolo to be comparable if not better. We had bruschetta, Ragu spaghetti, lasagna, and their chocolate soufflé. We had read that the soufflé was outstanding so we ordered 2. We were NOT disappointed with any of the food items.

Waiters speak Spanish and English, are very friendly, and absolutely no wait for the waterfront table. The shrimp ceviche had so many shrimp with a tasty sweet sauce and avocado garnish. Guacamole was perfectly prepared, and all meals come with tortilla chips and a variety of salsas on a decorative boat tray. The tuna steak and Salmon with Lime Sauce were prepared perfectly and were both tasty and high quality. Sadly, the food was so delicious and filling we had no room to try the desserts. About a block away from the Isla Mall, but a much more authentic experience than the mall restaurants. A must-try dinner spot for seafood lovers in the Cancun hotel zone.

When it was delivered it was WELL DONE. This was sent back and then 2 male waiters came to deliver same steak and tried to "educate" on cutting a steak (against the grain in middle...no sh!t). They wouldn't let us take picture of it. Steak was still WELL DONE and they proceeded to argue (even though no pink at all on 1st and minimal on next). Finally they took back and refired and it was ok (nothing special). Ruined dinner. Roberto (Mgr) came to see how meal was and wanted to argue that the first one really weren't wrong and we just didn't cut them right...(guess how that went over) They brought out a "celebration desert" which we ate a bit and thanked them for it but damage had been done. That will be last time we go there as it's pricey and this experience wasn't good. Learn temperatures of steak and don't send multiple people to argue if kitchen makes a mistake (it was a mistake). The pros: Lemon palate cleansing sorbet and Stephanie (waitress) was good and if it weren't for her, we would've walked away. That is it.

I'd say the service was amazing, some of the food was amazing and others were a big miss. My favorites were the bread service, duo soup & the tiramisu just might have been the best I've ever had. Now for the rest of the food it was not amazing it was ok, and the worst part was my husband got sick off the mushroom risotto. I wasn't a fan of the lasagna or the chicken parm. I really wanted to be impressed by this place but if I did it again I would just get their soup and dessert and skip the rest.

But now we really love it here, primarily because of the great service, as well as the pastas and meaty dishes. Dining & Atmoshphere: ~ White table cloth dining. Very elegant, not dim and romantic, but comfortable. "Table for two" tables might be fairly close together, but when you stay at this resort, you'll usually recognize who you're sitting next to because you probably met at the pool lol. And we've met a lot of cool people here too. They also set up tables for large groups if needed. Reservations are recommended for dinner. Plus, dressing up appropriately is required! Bellà Antipasti, Secondi, & Primis: ~ They start you off with a freshly baked olive bread loaf, meant for dipping in olive oil / balsamic. Love it when bread comes out hot! We also tried the Beef Carpacci, which were soft beef slices with a peppery saltiness! Good stuff! The Truffle Arancini were crunchy parmesan rice balls that were tasty. As for the Mussels in White Wine, mmm mmm loved the garlic sauce it was in! And we always ordered the Duo Cream Soup, which is simply refreshing! ~ For Secondi, we had tried the Chicken Parmigiana, which was OK. Nothing special imo. Same with the Pork Chop, which was a bit well-done for my pallet. The more flavorful stuff was the Lamb Shank and the Ossobuco with Milanese Risotto; OMG, these two dishes were amazing! Our two favorites of all! What I didn't get to try was the Katafi Shrimp. This popular dish must have gone past our table at least seven times. Gotta order it next time. ~ As for Primi dishes, we've enjoyed the Truffle Risotto! The Lasagna Bolognese was meaty goodness heavily covered in melted mozzarella. The Truffle Fettuccine is always a winning choice. Add some chicken to it. The Pesto Gnocchi is chewy and enjoyable! Pass on the Shrimp Ravioli as well as the Beef Cannelloni. They were good, just not as satisfying as the other Primi dishes. Tl;DR Bellà Restaurant has a variety of Italian dishes from pastas, to seafood, risottos plates, to tender meaty dishes, and they can make my gluten-free friends happy with that option. Dining here is clean and pleasant. Service by the staff and our wine som has been nothing short of excellent! Compliments to the chef! There's just so many good choices on the menu. So you can't go wrong eating here. Some dishes are a good-sized portion, but some are small enough to try if you wanna order another. Overall, we love it here!
