I am sharing my experience to warn other GM customers and to document what occurred on February 9, 2026. My vehicle was towed to Vara Chevrolet through GM Roadside Assistance due to a suspected fuel system issue. From the moment the vehicle was dispatched, communication failures and poor service followed. * The tow was delayed for hours with inaccurate status updates * My vehicle was initially dropped at the wrong dealership * Vara Chevrolet did not notify me when the vehicle arrived * Calls to the service department repeatedly went unanswered * Text messages were ignored or minimally acknowledged Once at the dealership, I was told diagnostic timelines ranging from 3-5 days to 7-10 business days within the same afternoon. I was denied a loaner with no clear explanation, despite the vehicle being towed for a potential fuel safety concern. When I asked to speak with management, I was met with dismissive behavior, interruptions, and a lack of accountability. The General Manager, David Vara, was openly hostile, repeatedly interrupted me, made assumptions, and threatened to call the police simply because I advocated for myself. At no point did he apologize for the service failures or attempt to resolve the issue. I was also incorrectly told that because I did not purchase my vehicle from Vara Chevrolet, they were not obligated to service it. This contradicts standard GM service practices. I ultimately removed my vehicle and took it to Ancira Chevrolet, where I immediately received respectful treatment, a same-day diagnostic scan, and genuine concern for my safety and situation. This experience was unprofessional, demeaning, and unacceptable. Vara Chevrolet should not represent the GM brand in its current state. I took my truck in for hail damage repair. I was told that there was a lifetime warranty on the repair.After a few years the paint started to bubble up and peel. Took the truck back to Vara for the warranty to be used for the repairs. Instead of honoring the warranty aI was told they would not honor the warranty. Vara's paint and body workers were supposed to replace the hood with new one What they did was keep the old hood and paint over the old paint. That is why the paint bubble up and peeled off. I was lied to and it was dishonest way of doing repairs. read more

I will not go back there due to the lack of attention to detail. Service Department did an amazing job. I am from Wisconsin and had a 19 Hour Rd. trip that caused my brakes to start squeaking. I did the brakes myself but forgot to put the truck in service mode. I brought my truck to another shop in San Antonio and after two weeks they finally gave my truck back and after turning it off and on again, the issue persisted I told them to tow it to Vara Chevrolet, which they agreed to. I met with Richard, who is my service advisor for the week that my truck was there. I dropped it off on Friday and was told on Tuesday. That there was a leak on the passenger rear caliper that the other shop installed. They called me to make sure that they could investigate further and after doing so discovered that the pressure washer that seals the brake line to the caliper was bent from being over tightened. I had to call them on Wednesday to get an update and on Thursday they told me it would be done on Friday on Friday. I went and picked up my truck and everything worked amazing. We dropped off our truck in May and it's now August... they have had my truck with NO UPDATE! We call, we text. And almost never get a response. Our truck has just been sitting there for now a little over TWO MONTHS. We've been told "we'll get an update tomorrow".. tomorrow was 3 days ago. A month ago. And it clearly looks like our truck hasn't been touched at all. And then we can't even get a loaner car!!! We now have had THREE different excuses for a loaner car. So obviously they're just not wanting to give us one.. for no reason because why am I hearing 3 different reasons why we can't? The least they can do is offer to pay for a rental since we had no idea our truck would take over two months to even be looked at!! We're just hoping our truck will be done by this month, or actually by next week. LASTLY we were told that it would take 5 days. Worst experience ever! Will be taking our business elsewhere! Went in Saturday afternoon to purchase a vehicle, got approved BUT, we noticed some scratches on the vehicle so decided not to purchase it. Mr. Kon(not sure if that's how you spell it.), I guess runs the whole place, he said he would let us purchase a newer model for the same price as the other one with no money down. He also asked what payment I would like to stay at. I said $600. He said okay and that he would talk to his person at the bank. After that, we had to wait until today, Monday. My husband was supposed to have left for work on Sunday but, stayed to see this thing out. We waited while also getting an oil change on our other vehicle. Then our salesman came out with some other BS that I know came from Mr. Kon Which pissed me off. So I just told him not to bother anymore bc I was tired of waiting and hearing anymore bs. So we left. Moved to San Antonio from out of state and came to this dealership for my regular maintenance. 3 out of my 4 visits have been unpleasant. In one visit I waited for over 2 hours because they never called on me. Gave it the benefit of the doubt and came again which then they tell me my vehicle is next in line. 1 hour later and nothing as I'm not showing on the system. Check again and they tell me I have 5 more cars in front of me. Took a total of 5 hours for an oil change. Last time coming here. What is it with attempting to get service at Vara Chevrolet! I've sent letters to Mr. Vara himself. I did receive one phone indicating that my 2022 Silverado will be looked at. I was told that my truck will be looked at on Monday, Nope! I did not receive a phone call, a text or email after that! When I purchased my Silverado from Vara Chevrolet, so many promises were spoken! I believe that it was just talk! It seems that when something goes wrong, Vara is not there to provide service (like "they" promised). Now my goal is to pay off this truck as fast as I can, and get rid of it. It's not worth the headache to fight with Vara Chevrolet, it's not! I believe Vara Chevrolet is waiting for my warranty to run out! I purchased my Silverado in Jan 2023, months later, the computer went out. Vara kept my Silverado for almost two months! I had to fight for a loaner! Now the rear camera is not working! There I was greeted and asked what I was there for. I told the Service Advisor the oil change appointment for Malibu. Everything went well from the time I checked in to the time I checked out. I am from out of town (2 hours) and I called the dealership, they took my application over the phone and gave me a quote on my trade in. I was told to come in and I did, early morning and I was able to close on a deal by lunch time. They were good to me and my salesman Francisco Zepeda was honest and treated me good. I met his dad Rick who also works there and he was a down to earth gentleman. The sales manager D. Garcia was good to me and I was impressed with the way they handled my transaction. My wife ended up doing business with them and she ended up buying a vehicle herself that same day as well. We were there a bit longer during my wife's transaction but it was worth it since she ended up getting a brand new vehicle herself. Now I've read the other comments here and they all seem to deal with getting service done on your vehicle. Absolutely been the worse experience with a body shop. As others stated promises that are not kept, updates not kept and services not completed properly. They did a good job fixing the parts in the accident, problem they scratched the door and now I have to take it back later. I know there will be no loaner while I'm out my vehicle. I had to call them and my insurance to get supplements and status updates on my own weekly. I would be told it was 90% done then we didn't get the door. We had door but we can't find it, then we didn't order the door, then we don't have the fender, then I get vehicle back and dings everywhere, that they said insurance wouldn't cover, well yeah they caused them, broken latch to my sunroof, that apparently I am being told I broke and not my fault. Having worked in a shop and knowing how important word or mouth and customer service should be valued this does not seem like a priority. It sours my opinion overall of the Vara. Not to mention a coworker had to same issues. It's sad my vehicle in worse condition then before the accident and they won't take ownership of the damages. So many dings and there are more from scratches on the new door they replaced, to fluid or rust stains and the emblem they replaced being black instead of chrome like original. I'm just tired of going back and forth with them. I know they were mad cause I called them out for not calling me for updates but the employee accused me of calling her a liar, when I asked her for the truth and we had conversation in front of body shop Secretary. I asked Secretary if I called her a liar? And she tell Secretary to not talk to me, she has no business in our conversation, so I asked for boss and had to wait and got body shop manager but not higher up. I tried to reach out by chat but couldn't get a reply, how do I reach out? Did finally get chat back but I had to initiate. Update, no repairs yet, after 4 months hard to get a loaner from someone, so my wife is content to just be able to get to work and go out of town to conferences she's held off while repairs were being made. I did fix patch myself, they offered to fix but it's 2 screws and she needed it fixed. Trying to organize date to take back, with promise repairs would be done same day. My wife did ask to share 2 more photos of damage to hatch they just painted over and did not fill, from removal of old emblem and sander marks on glass. We got the insurance there was a minor accident, they started bullying my wife trying to make her pay $1000.00 deductible but it was supposed to only be $250.00 for the portion of the insurance that covered the loaner. They are holding my wife's car hostage at the moment. OK, I was in the market for looking for a new truck, but it seems there is a problem at this dealership. It's reading the customers request. It's not hard. You read what the customer would like and see if you can work with that, but I guess it doesn't work at this dealership. I specifically sent a message to the sales manager, requesting information on vehicles, but not till this time and this date, then I requested to be addressed as Mr. Not on a first name basis. Well, I guess somebody did not read messages or did not understand the English language because I'm getting emails When I request not to be bothered till this time and date they can't get that right then they can't get my name right because they're still calling me by my first name so I thought to myself if they can't get these two simple request now then I'm at the wrong dealership Lesson learned you lost a sale because somebody did not read the customers request and end story you blow it let me find a dealer. They significantly lowballed us for our trade-in (by several thousand dollars) and then when we showed them offer letters from other appraisers basically told us to get lost - after putting a 1000 deposit down for the new truck, going through all these hoops and dealing with their clerical errors the entire time when it came down to brass tacks. Then when I called to see what is going on, I am told by the receptionist, well all the service staff left and they didn't leave any keys up at the front. The lady who received my call was nice and tried to help, she said the service manager would be meeting me at 6:00 am in the morning 10/18/2021, so I could get my car. Well that didn't happen, I had to try three people who gave me the run around and told me wait until we open at 7:00am. Eight months ago I contacted Vara Chevrolet to inquire about buying the soon-to-be-released Corvette Z06. They added me to a list as #1 position. Over the next 6 months I contacted them to see if I need to take further action. On one occasion I spoke to the sales manager, Ralph, who confirmed I was first on the list. I also received an email response stating that I was #1 on the list. Ralph, the sales manager, did not respond to my phone calls over the next several months. I finally decided to call one of their salesmen. The salesman said that they started taking deposits and I'd be #19 if I wanted to put a deposit down for the car. I would have gladly put a deposit on the car if they'd contacted me as expected, but no way would I do business with a dealership that didn't contact me as expected months ago (not to mention they never returned phone calls). Guess it wont matter much since their star rating is a 1.8. Got a recall for my airbags so i take my vehicle in to Vara Chevrolet. Everything went smooth till i go my truck back and the red light was on to service my airbag. I didnt even leave the parking lot and went right back. They took my truck back and eventually they came back saying my light was on when i brought it in, i told them i would have noticed a red light on. I didnt take it in because my airbag light was on but only because i got a recall notice on airbag. So now I'm driving a vehicle that the airbags don't work and puts me and my family in danger if by chance i get into an accident. read more

Total disappointment We fell in love with a truck at Vara Chevrolet. It was out of our price range so we asked the sales person Mr. Young if the price was deformable and he said yes! I brought my ten year old vehicle here to get a diag check in the AC due to it not blowing cold air, along with a clicking noise. I was told that the diagnosis would take 3-4+ days, the potential repair being 1-2 days. I did not hear from the dealership for days and when I called they mentioned that they repaired something to do with a recall. They explained that it was required of them, which is fine and all, but they failed to inform me of this beforehand.
