Vantage is, by far, the worst credit union ever. I have had nothing but issues with them, and they have allowed my account to get hacked not once, but twice. Then, to correct their mistake for not monitoring my money, they now decline any transaction above $20 when I am more than a mile from my house. I have to call to have them reactivate the card, and every time they tell me they have no idea why it happened. I would never trust these guys with my money, and neither should you. read more

I've had only good experiences with Vantage Credit Union. They offer very good rates, respond quickly and courteously to inquiries and requests, and they function according to clearly publicized policies. You can reach a live person when you need to, and there's always a sense that they care about your questions and issues, even if you are not a net-worth client. I am especially impressed that they adjust their savings interest rates rapidly when the index interest rates increase. Overall, I am very satisfied. read more

You do not want to be a member of this credit union. I needed to replace my debit card and ordered it on November 22. Most banks and credit unions can print them right away. Vantage contracts with another company that has been ridiculously slow in making a new card. Today is December 13th. I called and found out it hasn't even been printed yet. It won't be printed for at least another week. Then I called Vantage to see if they could help. They said there is nothing they can do. It is clear they do not care for customers who started with their original company 40 years ago. So in the new year we will be moving all of our accounts to another financial institution who can actually keep up with the times. So disappointing. read more

Many people probably wonder what the difference between a bank and a credit union is. I know I did! The difference is that with a bank, there is a group of people who own it, and any profits that bank makes goes to the partners. With a credit union, it is owned by the members, so any profits they make goes back into the credit union to benefit the members in areas such as loans, lower rates, etc. I've banked at Vantage since I was a minor and it was for educational employees, because my mom was (and is) one. I'm a teacher now too, but now Vantage is for anyone to join. I highly suggest you do!! A lot of branches are newer and nicely appointed. This one, along with many others, has a phone system inside to conduct business. You don't go face to face with the tellers; instead, it's a video screen. For safety reasons, but I don't mind. There isn't a drive up ATM here, but it isn't a big deal to me because there is a credit union ATM nearer to my house than this branch. Oh, did I mention that using you can use ANY credit union ATM without a fee, plus all the ATMs in 7/11s? Yep. It's cool because there are credit unions everywhere. They are a full service place and have loans, credit cards, mortgages, even arrangements to help you buy a car. I always find people to be really nice and helpful. I give this branch 5 stars because they went above and beyond for me last month when I was in a tough situation. My dog got really sick 2 weeks before I was getting married. He was in the hospital and I spent $1000 on his treatment. Then he got sicker and had to go back. I was in a pinch to pay another $1000+, and I didn't have the cash because I'd spent my savings paying for my wedding. I had a credit card with a really low limit because I didn't use credit cards, just got one to use occasionally to establish credit. I asked VCU to up my limit so I could pay for my dog's treatment. They were really nice and helpful, though I was a wreck, and got me the credit line raised that very day so I could pay. My dog ended up not making it, but he died with me knowing I did EVERYTHING I could to get him better. I'm happy VCU helped me have that peace of mind. read more

I've been a member of this credit union for 13 years and will be closing my account by the end of the week. They have gone downhill over the years and have now resorting to charging fees like a bank if your account doesn't meet their minimum requirements. read more

I was sad to learn that a branch that I was using was closing, and I decided to give this branch a try. The branch is located in a strip mall on Lindbergh at the light at Eddie and Park. I was all sorts of confused when I walk in. I went in looking for the tellers and the ladies told me that they do a face to face interaction via computer screen. It was kind of cool. It was drive-thru for walk up. The staff is really nice and helps out when you need it. Great location and convenient when I am in SOCO. Credit Union is the way to go! read more

Vantage flagged my last review and yelp said that it provide enough context so let me explain further: I was sitting there talking to one of the employees about my concerns about being charged erroneously and as I'm sitting there the bank assistant manager is sending messages about how I am being hostile. Now the employee and I are not noticing those messages because neither one of us are engaging in a hostile way so she comes up to his desk and asks him to read the messages that she was writing to him at that time. he responds saying oh everything's fine I'm taking care of this. At that time Karen (literally name Karen) said I needed to go in her office because I was being hostile even though I was sitting there and discussing the issue calmly. I started taking a video as they proceeded to not only yell at me but say that I was being hostile and threatening and proceeded to continue to yell at me and throw my stuff as I was leaving the store. I am waiting to hear back from the corporate office before I begin to pick it that place until all of the people that did that to me are fired. read more

If I'd written this review a year ago it would have been a five star rating but Vantage has shown me they really don't care at all about their clients. I have banked with this organization since 1973. Between my wife and I we probably run through the credit union around $100,000 a year. I keep an average balance in aa personal account of around $7000 and our joint account of about the same. But because one day out of a month the balance dropped below $3000 we were charged a $5.00 fee! Is a $5.00 fee worth losing a long time client, for Vantage I guess the answer is yes! Hidden monthly fees for minimum balance on checking and savings accounts. I wouldn't recommend any of the Vantage locations since that all have the same hidden fees. On their website it states that there is a $0 minimum balance on both their checking and savings accounts. It even has a full paragraph dedicated to not having fees. The truth is, they hide the fees in what's called an aggregate balance now. Meaning, if you don't have more than $3,000 in their system, you get fees. It's a bait and switch as well as illegal. They also say they have fees for people in certain age groups. I would stay far away from this credit union. They are just as bad as banks. read more

Never before have I enjoyed banking as much as I do with vantage & especially this branch. Teller Mary & I have had many wonderful conversations. In fact when I found out we were moving, while I was in the drive through working with deb (another wonderful person!), I asked if I could speak to Mary to tell her. So while deb worked on my deposit, I broke the news to Mary. No, I didn't slow down progress, no one was behind me anyway, my point is the customer service is personal & all my banking needs have meet. We have a car loan, home equity loan, checking & three savings accounts. They have numerous incentives for kids to save!! It's a fun place. read more

I love Vantage and have had the best experiences with this branch! I am considering switching my checking account over from my bank to Vantage, and I would recommend them to anyone. They are infinitely more human, understanding, and helpful...and they give me lower interest rates on credit cards and loans than I get at banks. Amber is the assistant branch manager at Sunset Hills, and she offered to help me out in a major way today by doing something that I didn't even think to ask her to do. Started charging for having an account. When one can get free checking, why pay a fee?

They took my membership fee as an account charge that did not exist. There was no e mail warning nor contact made they just closed my account. I had just deposited $ 100. 00. I was glad to get my money back and be done with this lame outfit. read more

AVOID THID CREDIT UNION AT ALL COST. Their business model is completely unethical. Vantage Credit Union (VCU) charges $30 fees up to 3 even 4 days after depositing a check. I deposited a $750.55 on 1/10, the statement shows a positive balance on my statement but VCU withdrew $90 (3 times $30) in NFS fees on 1/12. I deposited $663.14 on 2/6 on 2/9 VCU charged $120 (4 times $30) in NFS fees. I have never been to a bank where funds were not available close to immediately. Their response when I went to talk to them. "Well you deposited in the ATM inside our lobby; funds are available faster if you use the deposit lock box in the same lobby". Really??? It's 2015??? This is completely unacceptable, no financial institution I have ever been to takes this long to process a check. I am a single parent with 2 jobs, I live paycheck to paycheck, and I work longer hours than anyone at that bank. For some reason even though I have a positive balance on my statement, they took out a total of $210 in fees. Their only response was "it's not our fault and the only thing we can do is reimburse you one of the $30 fees". My friend who had introduced me to this credit union said she loved them, and has been with them since 1999 (15 years). She came with me to talk to them because recently she had had a similar issue happen to her. She told the banker she would be closing the two accounts she has had with them for 15 years. She was furious. For being a credit union, we both came to the conclusion that VCU does a disservice to the community by charging these enormous fees due to the fact they arbitrarily decide to withhold funds in your account for up to 2 business day, meaning that it can be up to 4 days if you happen to deposit around a weekend!!!! Again it's 2015, these are unethical business practices and do not provide the service to the community they claim to service. Look online at reviews on Credit Karma, Ripoff report and you will see that I am far from being the first person this happened to. Not only that but they are up to 18 complaints now on the BBB (including mine). Read each and everyone of them before you decide for yourself. My advice, if you are middle class avoid at all cost because it WILL cost you! Check USAA - they are incredible and up to date with all of the technology you would expect from 2015 like processing your check from home and making the funds available IMMEDIATELY, AMAZING!!!! They won't let me pay my freaking bill until it's past due. So annoying. Never had a company pull that before.

If there was a way to give a negative rating, I would. We are long time customers and are transferring every loan and account to another bank. The fees charged by VCU are ridiculous. Did you know they charge you $2.00 when money is automatically transferred from one of your accounts to another to cover checks? Did you know you are charged .75 cents every time you use your debit card at a register? Did you know you get charged an ATM fee to use your card at ATM's that are not credit union ATM's in addition to the charges the ATM already charges? On top of that...VCU charges a $30.00 NSF fee BEFORE THE TRANSACTION CLEARS. That's right. If your transaction is PENDING..and you transfer money to your account because you notice if that PENDING TRANSACTION is presented you will get a negative balance, they charge you the $30.00 fee anyway! YES THEY DO!!! TRUST ME. I had several pending transactions when I noticed my account was going to fall negative when those pending transactions cleared. So I transferred $400 dollars from one account to another. When I went online again to look that all was ok...I got charged 2 $30.00 fees. When I called, they said it is because the money was PROMISED when I didn't have the money to promise...so they charge a fee. I tried to explain that with technology as it is...and using online banking...that is unfair. Since the transactions were pending...and I put money in on time for the transactions to clear that is not fair. That is why technology is helpful so people can avoid this. You know what her answer was...use a paper ledger to keep track. Really? A paper ledger? This is 2013...I would think using technology is more exact and more helpful. You know what her comment was again? Yep...technology is helpful. That is how we knew you were promising money and could charge you the $30.00 charges. THAT'S IT! We are done! To make matters worse...the account I used to transfer money has over $10,000 in it! Why would I let myself be charged $60. I figured pending meant just that..pending. What would have happened if one of those PENDING fees was never presented but they had already charged me the $30.00 fees. I doubt they would have refunded it! read more
