The scope of the work was to remediate a mold problem that had been discovered by a plumber. Sky personnel spent about two weeks drying out the house, running dehumidifiers and fans. Although the workers' struggled with a lack of leadership, in the end, the work was completed to my parents' satisfaction. However, in the process of removing cabinets from the kitchen to gain access to dry out the house, they destroyed two cabinets (one of which houses the oven and microwave). Because the cabinets were disposed of, the cabinets were unavailable to be used as a pattern to construct replacement cabinets. My parents received a verbal quote from Sky to complete the second phase of the project, which involved reinstalling the cabinets and appliances, repairing the walls and replacing the flooring. However, after receiving the quote, they didn't hear from Sky for almost a month. During that time, they had no hot water, no air conditioner, no stove and no oven, making it very difficult to carry out the activities of normal, everyday living. When Sky finally did get back to my parents, they provided an estimate of $32,000 to replace flooring, walls and the damaged cabinets and reinstall the microwave and oven. In desperation, my parents called a local contractor who completed the work (except for the replacing the cabinetry and reinstalling the stove and microwave) for less than half of the Sky quote. Over three months later, the cabinets are not finished as my parents had to contract with a local cabinet maker to reconstruct them. While I think that Sky is competent to remediate damage, I think I feel potential customers should consider using a different contractor for reconstruction work.

Great customer service experience from the first call to the team that came out…read more After heavy rain that led to LOTS of flooded basements in our area (Central Ohio), ServPro was quickest to respond to my call and to schedule a damage assessment -- even though they were coming from another state! They underpromised and overdelivered, showing up early (!) for the assessment and getting a sanitizing crew out to us half a day earlier than expected (!!!). In a very stressful time, it was great to work with people who were uniformly friendly, sympathetic, and professional. Additional info: our problem was combined storm/sanitary sewer backup that covered about two thirds of our cinderblock-and-concrete basement up to about 3 inches in some places. We removed some of the water and damaged items (a rug, cardboard boxes) ourselves within a day; contacting ServPro, getting an assessment, and getting a sanitizing team out took about six days total from the time I called. That sounds like a long time (and it felt like it), but it was significantly faster than other companies that serve our area were offering. One thing I'd like to note that was really helpful: since spam calls are common lately, I don't always answer my phone. When ServPro called and left a message, they said I could text back OR call. Since I didn't listen to the message until after normal business hours, I felt more comfortable texting, and to my (pleased) surprise, someone was available to text back immediately to set up the assessment meeting. I really appreciate that the staff at ServPro of Warren County were ready to communicate with me through the medium I was more comfortable with at the time.
