When it came closer to needing daycare (August) and not hearing from them, I called to confirm arrangements. They said they didn't have availability and to check back next year! I told them I was on the waitlist list since last summer. Their excuse was other moms who have children there take precedence. What really likely happened is they lost the list in their relocation and never admitted to it. Fast forward, I follow up in the fall, the new year, and again I called back in the summer and I asked what place I was in line and the gave me a number that was way further down then what I started with. Never did hear from them. Disorganized, irresponsible and unprofessional.

In addition, they are the base level of a church, so they have a big basketball court for the kids to play in every day, regardless of weather-- they can run all over and play with ride-on toys. Their curriculum is fun for the kids and they've had wonderful, creative enrichment activities the whole time he has been there-- musicians come and play instruments, field trips, a week focused on camping where they set up a camp site in the gym with like 12 giant tents, a picnic table, and a fake fire. My son has gotten excited about letters and numbers, and he's a pretty rascally guy, one that's hard to get to stay focused. They've done a wonderful job with him, and they have a very relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The teachers are so positive, patient, kind, and consistent. I keep taking him there because he's so happy, even though I have to drive way out of my way. Highly recommended :).

To start off I have never known that kids could be dripped off at daycare and not cry when they go. My 2 year old granddaughter has never cried and willingly goes in on her own. I love getting photos or videos during the day through the app as well. Such a neat feature! They show what things they are working on so I can continue to ask and with her at home. They check the kids in at the door taking temperature and wearing a mask to keep things as safe as possible. All the teachers and leaders there seem happy and are so loving to the kids. I randomly came upon The Cottage one day while driving, I stopped in and was greeted by Dana, the then owner, she was more than happy to give me a tour and introduce me to the teachers each of my children would have. I was instantly in love with the place, it is a school atmosphere, they don't just stick 20 kids in a room and let them go buckwild. Since then The Cottage has been taken over by new owners, Elle and Dustin, who are amazing and very diligent in dealing with any needs or concerns you have. The school has been recently renamed to The Cottage Education and Learning Acadamy, because it is more than just a daycare. Each class has curriculum type schedules, which include Science and Spanish, and parents are always informed of what is being worked on that particular week to keep it going at home. The teachers are amazing and always have the child's best interest at heart. If you are looking for the best school in the area, The Cottage is worth your time to stop and tour. Of course it costs a little more than your average day care, but isn't that the point, it isn't your average daycare! Children remember and learn the most in their youngest years and will carry their experiences with them forever, why not give them the best you can and you will find that at The Cottage!

Our 3 year olds were in this daycare until we were told to basically find another- one of our twins…read morewas having some issues communicating with the staff (speech therapy was recommended and we were working with our pediatrician), learning routines, sitting and paying attention during lessons and story time, and sharing toys with other children. No- not biting, hitting, any other behaviors you would expect would get your kid kicked out. Most frustrating is that there were never any formal meetings to even discuss the possibility that if these things weren't fixed, we'd be kicked out. We didn't see it coming and had to scramble to find new childcare. The behaviors she exhibited are normal 3-year-old behaviors that might take some kids longer than others to work through. I feel the staff is either stretched too thin or doesn't have the patience or energy needed to work with little learners of all levels. We felt extremely blind-sighted by this decision and heart-broken for our kids who now have to start somewhere else, leave their friends and learn new routines. It was already hard enough leaving our only kids in the hands of someone else, and now I'm facing a ton of anxiety all over again hoping this doesn't happen to us again and our kids won't be given up on as easily as Meadow Wood gave up on them. Before this happened, I did appreciate many things about this daycare. The Brightwheel app is convenient and they update you/post pictures of your kids throughout the day. During summer there were a lot of extra activities like field trips and a magic show. Some of the teachers were really nice to us (we saw some be pretty snippy with the kids at times though). We always knew about injuries via an incident report. Payment was easy. Lots for littles to do and different enrichment activities that matched the seasons. Open at 6:00AM for parents who need to get to work early. However, unless your kids are really good at sitting still, following routines, and don't cause a lot of problems for the staff in general, they might tell you to find somewhere else better suited to your child's needs and that they can't offer the 1:1 that your child needs because they have a lot of kids to watch already.

They have made my son feel comfortable and the transition was very easy. My son has attended now for almost 2 years. I don't even consider them a daycare anymore but an extended family. They have been such a blessing. My son loves his teachers. They diligently work with him on colors, numbers and ABCs. They have even gone above and beyond with helping him potty train.
